Chapter 261

"I don't love you anymore. Loving you was a mistake, one I'm happy to be saved from. So, take your stinky self out of this expensive apartment. Fuck off, Andre. Go date your own size, I don't know... Tony?" Cross scoffed and stepped away from Andre, smiling in satisfaction when he saw the disbelief in his eyes.

"I love you, Cross. That's all I came here to you," Andre smiled sadly, "and, I'm begging you never to forget me, I know you hate me, but years later, when your anger leaves, please, love me again and never forget our time together," Andre spoke with a very heavy heart, feeling the pain seeping right into his bones.

He looked at Cross's unfeeling face and sighed, "I guess this is really our breakup. I'm never going to forget you, Cross, you should know you lit up my boring world when you came into it..." Slowly, he moved closer and wrapped his arms around Cross in a warm hug.

"Just let me hug you for the last time, Cross. I'm no longer asking to get back together, just let me hug as someone you used to know," Andre whispered beside Cross's neck.

"I hope you crash and die on your way back," Cross pushed Andre off him and turned away from him.

Andre sighed, "I'll stop working for your cousin by the end of the year. I'll wait for him to return from his honeymoon... I love my job, but I love you more, and if my relationship with your family bothers you so much, I'll leave." He said, looking at Cross's back.

"I don't care," Cross said kicking his door open, slamming it shut as he entered the apartment.

In his living room, he stood there and watched Andre through the camera. Andre stood there for quite a long time before he raised his head as if he knew exactly where the security camera was hidden.

Cross stared into Andre's eyes without blinking, allowing his tears to fall freely as he saw the longing in those familiar eyes.

Slowly, Andre turned away from Cross's floor and walked away.

A sob tore from Cross's lips as he let himself fall on his sofa. He cried again, just like every other night, wishing everything was a nightmare and he'd wake up the next morning.

His sorrow was doubled, Andre was quoting the job in a few months, he was leaving, and Cross would no longer have an idea which part of the world Andre would be in.

They'd be separated forever, as if they hadn't held each other's naked bodies as they writhed in pleasure.

Cross cried like a baby, wondering why the world had to be so cruel.

He lay with his face buried on his sofa, staying like that until his pain lulled him into a restless sleep.

He suddenly woke up from the knock on his door.

He scrambled up, rubbing his swollen eyes with the back of his hand.

"Shit," He checked the time and saw that it was 8: a.m., he had slept off while crying.

'Could Andre have returned?' He thought as he got up from the sofa and walked toward the door.

His heart was pounding in excitement and dread as he got closer to the door.

He knew he shouldn't be excited to see Andre, but at the same time, he was. He wondered what else Andre had to say that morning.

He suddenly paused, deciding to peek at Andre before he opened the door. However, his face fell when he saw a chubby deliveryman standing in front of his door.

"Of course... why would he return after I said all those things to him," he murmured, feeling disappointed.

Sighing, he pulled his door open with a frown, "You've got the wrong apartment." He said, staring at the small box in the deliveryman's hand.

The chubby man shook his head, "No, kiddo," He turned the box around and showed Cross his passport-sized picture that was glued to the side of the box.

"This is you, right?" The chubby man asked with a smile.

Cross's frown deepened, he stared at the picture of himself sitting in the beach bar and smiling so beautifully... he knew who took that picture of him, it was only one person.

Why would he send him a gift?

"Yes. That's me," he agreed.

"Alright, take it, then," The chubby man extended the small box to Cross.

Reluctantly, Cross took the box from the deliveryman, "Thank you." He said quietly and was about to close the door when the man raised his hand and stopped him.

"I was given something to read to you, too, just wait a second," He said as he searched his pocket.

Cross watched as the man pulled out a neat, white paper from his pocket.

"Ah, sorry, I almost forgot that," The man chuckled.

Cross raised a questioning brow, "What's that?"

The chubby man cleared his throat and read out, "Happy 22nd birthday, Papito. You're officially an adult. I wish I could be with you on your special day, but I know that's not our reality anymore. But I'm holding onto every memory, every touch, every laugh. Your happiness comes first, even if it has to be without me. Go be crazy, my love. Just know that I love you more than words can say." The man smiled and suddenly shook his head.

"No, no, I don't love you, I meant, the writer loves you, I'm married with kids -"

"I understand. Can I have it?" Cross stretched his hand to the man.

"Ah, sure, it's yours, Papito -"

"That's not my name," Cross glared at the man and snatched the letter from him, slamming his door shut.

Once alone, he stared at Andre's handwriting and felt his heart melt. His entire body melted, not just his heart.

He had forgotten about his own birthday, but Andre remembered.

"Happy 22nd birthday, Papito. You're officially an adult. I wish I could be with you on your special day, but I know that's not our reality anymore. But I'm holding onto every memory, every touch, every laugh. Your happiness comes first, even if it has to be without me. Go be crazy, my love. Just know that I love you more than words can say," He read the words all over again in a slow whisper, gritting his teeth to quench that strong longing that brewed within him.
