Chapter 252
"Trust me, if I were, it'd be alcohol in front of me, not water. You know better, twinnie," he replied.
"Don't call me that. I don't like being your twin," Thomas made a disgusted face.
"You should be proud you have me, the better-looking one as your twin. Some people have to hide their twin because they look as bad as you. But you see, I take you everywhere I go without shame because my awesomeness protects you," Jeremiah smirked.
Thomas laughed, "You wish... well, I gotta go now, Mr. Awesome. Seems like Mr. Meanie wants to have a word. Bye." He stood and took his drink with him.
"Hey, where are you going? You promised to..." he trailed off as a tall figure emerged beside him, the presence too familiar.
He didn't look, he knew who I was already. Gripping his fingers around his glass of water, he waited for Jasper to leave his side so he could quickly escape.
It's been two weeks without speaking to each other and pretending the other didn't exist. He knew Jasper hated him now, so he didn't want to stay and cause trouble.
"Anyone sitting there?" Jasper asked calmly beside Jeremiah.
Jeremiah gulped, feeling tingles just by hearing Jasper's voice.
He shook his head, not trusting his voice to speak.
Slowly, Jasper walked over to where Thomas had been sitting across Jeremiah, lowering himself on the sofa.
"Excuse me," Jeremiah muttered and stood, ready to run off and lick his wounds in the corner.
"Don't," Jeremiah stopped him in a firm, yet gentle voice.
Slowly, Jeremiah sat back on the sofa, gulping his water as his throat suddenly felt dry.
Why did Jasper ask him to stay?
To make him realise how much he's fucked up?
"Not hiding tonight?" Jasper questioned.
"Yes, I - huh? You saw me all those times?" Jeremiah asked in disbelief.
Jasper simply stared at Jeremiah's face, sipping his drink.
He wanted to stare for as long as he could.
This wasn't sneaking around, it wasn't an imagination.
It was the real person, right in front of him.
Jeremiah felt awkward as Jasper only stared at him without speaking, "I'm sorry for sneaking around. I just..." he sighed and looked into Jeremiah's eyes, "I miss you and I needed to find a way to get close to you without disturbing you with my presence. I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable." He apologised sincerely.
Jeremiah bit his lower lip, he needed to get a hold of himself, stalking someone was borderline crazy behaviour.
Jasper still didn't speak, making Jeremiah feel more awkward.
There was no point in staying with someone who won't speak to you.
Jeremiah cleared his throat, standing, "I'll leave, first. I need to sleep early, I've got a few tasks tomorrow. Goodnight." He said, sounding as casual as he could and slid out of the booth.
"We'll leave," Jasper said, abandoning his drink on the table.
Jeremiah froze as he felt Jasper walk up behind him, his heart pounding loudly. This was the closest they'd gotten for the past two weeks.
"I'll move out of your way, then. You can go ahead," Jeremiah stepped aside.
"No use to walk separately. We'll go together, our rooms are not far apart, and... I need to wake up early, too. Come on," Jasper said and placed his hand briefly on Jeremiah's lower.
As if he was electrified, Jeremiah hopped out of Jasper's touch, his nerves jumping all over the place. Just a touch from Jasper made his knees go weak.
Slowly, he walked out of the club, Jasper trailing behind him.
The elevator ride was awkward for Jeremiah; he could feel Jasper's gaze on him all through until the elevator doors slid open.
Not wasting a second, he hurried out of the elevator, heading over to his door.
Jasper wasn't in a hurry, he simply followed Jeremiah, standing beside him as he fumbled to unlock his.
"For someone who misses me, you're quite in a hurry to get away from me," Jeremiah said, voice low.
"Shit," Jeremiah muttered as his key card fell from his hand.
Jasper's voice startled him, and his words shocked him.
He stepped back as Jeremiah stepped forward and picked up the key, handing it to Jeremiah.
"Thank you," Jeremiah said quietly as he took the key card from him, but he froze as Jeremiah held his hand instead of releasing the card for him.
"Um, the, key card..." Jeremiah murmured.
"You really are running away from someone who misses someone," Jasper said, drawing Jeremiah closer.
Jeremiah blinked slowly, "I don't want to -"
"Do you really miss me?" Jasper asked quietly.
Jeremiah looked into Jasper's eyes, his pulse racing, "Like crazy." He murmured.
Jasper slowly nodded, "Then you shouldn't be trying to get away from me..." He paused and roamed his eyes over Jeremiah's face.
"Sleep with me?" Jasper whispered softly.
Jeremiah drew in a shaky breath, "Sleep with you?" He asked cautiously.
Jasper nodded, "Sleep with me." He said more firmly.
Jeremiah's heart bubbled with butterflies, he nibbled on his lower lip, feeling happy but unsure.
"Come on," Jasper gently led Jeremiah toward his room, his hand a warm wrap around Jeremiah's wrist.
Jeremiah couldn't believe it. He was stepping into Jasper's room after so long.
Everything looked the same, clean and organised, the air smelling of fresh linen and a light cologne that was so uniquely Jasper.
Jasper closed the door, walking over to Jeremiah in the middle of the room.
"You should get changed. Something comfy." Jasper's voice was a low murmur from behind him, his hands gently holding Jeremiah's waist and guiding him toward the wardrobe.
"Um, your clothes?" Jeremiah questioned, the words catching in his throat.
"My clothes," Jasper replied, his tone final and certain.
Jeremiah turned to face him, his eyes scanning Jasper's face, searching for some hint of what was happening.
Jasper's expression was unreadable, but his eyes held a softness that made Jeremiah's heart ache. The silence between them was thick with a past they'd tried to bury and a future they hadn't dared to imagine.
Jeremiah's hand trembled as he reached for the doorknob of the wardrobe. It was a simple action, but it felt monumental, a choice that could rewrite everything between them.
He looked back at Jasper, whose eyes were fixed on his, a silent plea hanging in the air.
