Chapter 96
Zeno marched out of the hall and toward the silver elevator.
He saw Sakura's brother by the side, staring at him as if he wanted to kidnap him or something, but he ignored him and went into the elevator.
He didn't like him just like he didn't like his sister. Anyone who loved or related to the person who loved Sebastian was his enemy. He wasn't going to pull his fake face on and pretend anymore.
He was going to stake his claim unless the person he wanted to claim rejected him.
He held the envelope tightly in his hands as he wondered what was inside it, but that was the least of his problems, he was more concerned about how Sebastian would receive him in his room when it was clear that he was avoiding him.
The elevator opened, letting Zeno walk into the last floor of the tall hotel building.
"421..." Zeno murmured as he stared at one door after the other.
He suddenly paused, his heart racing.
He found the door.
He stared at it for a long time, before he raised his hand and knocked three times, softly but firmly.
He waited for a few seconds to give Sebastian time to answer the door. When he didn't hear any response, he raised his hand to knock again but paused when he suddenly heard Sebastian's low voice.
"The door's open, Ida," Sebastian replied.
Zeno bit his lips and placed his hand on the door handle. He wondered how Sebastian would react when he found out that it wasn't Ida.
He took a deep breath and gently pushed the door open, stepping into the room and shutting the door behind him.
Zeno was surprised to feel the cool night air on his skin the moment he went into the room.
He turned and realized the glass door that led to the balcony was slightly open, allowing the soft wind to slowly lift the white transparent curtains as it entered the room.
With the aid of the moonlight, he could make out Sebastian's tall figure in the dark, and he could also smell the smoke in the air.
Sebastian was smoking again, he'd come to realize that he did that whenever he was stressing about something.
He really wished he could just take away everything that was bothering Sebastian, he was carrying a lot of things on his shoulder.
Zeno was startled when Sebastian's voice once again rang out from the balcony. "Drop it on the table and leave," He ordered.
Sebastian noticed that the person in his room had just entered and went quiet; he wasn't in the mood to entertain any drama, so he just asked him to drop it and leave; however, the voice he heard made his whole body ache with longing he was fighting hard to suppress.
"It's me, Zeno..." Zeno replied in a quiet voice.
He kept his eyes locked on Sebastian's figure, not wanting to miss any reaction from him.
Sebastian's hand that was taking the cigarette to his lips paused midair as he slowly turned to see the person who had spoken inside the room.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw Zeno standing at the center of his room, looking so scared yet beautiful.
This was why he'd been avoiding him all day; he knew he couldn't resist him if he let himself get close to Zeno; he no longer had control over how much he wanted Zeno.
"What are you doing here, Zeno," He asked, puffing his smoke.
Zeno gripped the envelope, "I brought you the envelope," He replied, not removing his eyes from Sebastian's figure.
Sebastian nodded, "You have. Drop it on the table and leave," He said coldly as he turned away from Zeno and returned to watching the beautiful City below the building.
He gritted his teeth, hoping Zeno would obey him, and left. He didn't know how to face him after ignoring him the whole day.
Zeno scoffed very quietly. He walked over to the white table at the corner of the room and dropped the envelope on it, then he slowly turned and walked closer to the balcony.
Sebastian heard Zeno's footsteps getting closer and sighed. "Stop, Zeno, I ordered you to leave," His words were commanding but his voice was as soft as the wind.
Zeno paused just two feet from the balcony door, "So, you've been really avoiding me all day," He stated.
Even if he already knew that the confirmation made it more painful.
"Just go, Zeno, that's an order," Sebastian said in an emotionless tone.
Zeno shook his head, "No."
Sebastian heard his stubborn reply and turned to face him. "Are you-"
"Yes, Sebastian, I'm questioning your order...this night, I'll question a lot of things," Zeno interrupted fearlessly.
Sebastian closed his eyes for a second before he finally walked out from the balcony.
He pushed the curtains aside and walked toward Zeno.
Zeno thought he was tough enough to face Sebastian, but when he saw him in the black silk robe and low-hanging pants, he felt all his resolve wearing away. Sebastian's 'out of the shower' hair was calling to him to run his fingers through them.
But he forced himself to focus on Sebastian's face, even though it would be hard to focus on such a devilishly handsome face, he'd try, he had to.
Sebastian stared at Zeno's face, feeling speechless for a while before he suddenly cleared his throat; he moved closer and stopped right in front of him, "I'll ask one last time, Zeno, what are you doing here?" He locked his eyes with Zeno's, internally fighting his hands that were trying to reach out and draw Zeno into his arms.
Tension was high between them; the pheromones were rising higher and higher in the room, and if it were to be flammable, it'd burn the whole hotel down with the slightest scratch of a matchstick.
Zeno knew that Sebastian was trying to send him away, but he didn't flinch; he slowly covered the space between them and raised his hand to Sebastian's face, gently cupping the side of his face and staring deeper into his grey orbs.
"I've missed you," Zeno confessed.
That was the last response Sebastian was expecting from Zeno. His breath hitched in his lungs, and he shut his eyes, allowing himself to feel Zeno's soft hand on his skin.
However, he quickly opened his eyes and stepped away from Zeno. He was done entertaining himself with someone who hated him, with someone who had someone he already loved.
"You're doing it again, Sebastian. Why are you avoiding me?" Zeno asked with a frown.
Sebastian scoffed, "And how's that supposed to bother you, Zeno? We're nothing," He shrugged and walked over to the table, pulling out a drawer and sliding the envelope into the drawer.
Zeno frowned, he refused to be pushed away by Sebastian's hurtful words tonight.
He moved closer to him and stood behind him. "Stop trying to be strong all the time; allow someone to heal you. I know you're hurting inside, I might not know your story, but I know you need to let someone in; you need to let someone heal you," Zeno was about to hug Sebastian from behind, but he stepped aside, moving away from him.
"And you think you're the one to heal me?" Sebastian asked with a scoff.
He knew his words were about to hurt Zeno, but he said them anyway; he just wanted to get Zeno out of his side; he didn't want to be the type of person forcing himself on someone.
"Seb-"
