Chapter 249
The door opened quietly and Andre walked into the room.
He furrowed his brows as he couldn't make out anything from the darkness.
His head was banging, causing his eyes to hurt. Slowly, he raised his hand to the wall and switched on the light.
The first thing he saw was Cross, curled up on the bed, sleeping. His face lit up instantly, his headache forgotten for one second there.
But, as he moved over to the bed, he almost stumbled and fell from an object he collided with. He paused and looked down, that's when he realised that the floor was messed up.
Everywhere was littered with clothes and backpacks, and by the side of the wardrobe, he saw Cross's luggage sitting there.
Andre frowned, something was definitely wrong somewhere.
Was Cross trying to leave?
Whatever the case was, he sensed that Cross was troubled and he had to tread with caution.
Slowly, he moved over to the bed and climbed on it, moving closer to Cross. He leaned down and stared at Cross's face, frowning when he saw the dried tear stains on his cheeks.
Now he was worried.
What could have happened in his absence?
He was still trying to figure out how he had ended up sleeping almost the whole day, and now, he needed to figure out what had happened to Cross.
He felt bad, how had he left Cross to face whatever upset him alone, Cross would definitely be mad at him when he woke up.
He gently touched Cross's face, trailing his finger over his tear stains. Slowly, he leaned down and pressed his lips on Cross's forehead.
Cross stirred, frowning slightly as he woke up. He had cried himself to sleep, tormenting himself by playing the voices he had in the restroom on repeat, even adding salt to the injury by imagining it in his head.
He opened his swollen eyes, staring right at the very main source of his misery.
"Hi, baby," Andre whispered, smiling at Cross.
Cross clenched his fists. He so wanted to drive a punch right at Andre's perfect face, but he held back.
He would wait, pathetic, but he would wait for Andre to give him some kind of explanation for what happened.
A small part of him prayed for Andre to tell him something, anything, he needed what he heard to be a lie.
He was ready to risk his dignity and beg Andre to tell him that it was all a lie.
"Hey," Cross muttered and lifted himself to a sitting position, staring right into Andre's eyes.
Andre felt it, the withdrawal was palpable in Cross's voice and posture.
Cautiously, he moved closer to Cross, "I missed you..." Andre whispered, raising his hand to hold Cross.
His hand hung mid-air as Cross shifted away from him and left the bed.
Andre's heart sank. Now he was sure that something was wrong.
He got down from the bed, meeting Cross by the side of the window as he gazed at the quiet, night.
"Cross, I know something is wrong, can you tell me what it is? Is it me?" Andre asked quietly, standing behind Cross.
Cross balled his fists, biting down hard on his bottom lip as he kept himself from crying... not yet. He wasn't done giving Andre his last chances.
Andre sighed behind Cross, "Okay... I'm sorry for being away for the whole day. Come on, love, can we kiss and make up now?" He tried to lighten up the mood.
Cross shut his eyes for a few seconds and turned around to face Andre; his silver eyes locked onto Andre's brown ones, feeling his heart shatter harder when he recalled how this same man had cheated on him.
But, he remained calm, surprising even himself. He thought he'd have Andre by the neck by now, choking him to death.
"Where have you been?" Cross asked, his eyes unblinking.
Andre cleared his throat, "I took Tony to see a doctor. You wouldn't believe it, the poor guy is afraid of shots." He joked, trying to get Cross to talk about ugly Tony like he always did.
Cross's eyes were slowly hardening, his patience was wearing off and his anger was taking over.
"Yeah, the poor guy is afraid of shots but you gave him quite a few back shots. He even begged you to go faster," He shoved past Andre, walking over to the bed to pick up the few clothes he had left scattered over it.
Andre froze, his mind shutting down as the information he received was too heavy to process.
Him? Gave back shots to ugly Tony?
The math wasn't mathing.
He heard a bag zipping behind him and snapped his head around to see Cross forcing his clothes into the backpack.
Andre's mind reeled with thoughts, his body felt slowed, making it hard for him to respond immediately.
He forced himself to function and walked over to Cross, holding his hand and pausing his action.
"Look at me, Cross," Andre turned Cross's body around, looking at his face.
"I don't quite understand what you said earlier. I -"
"I said, you must have enjoyed fucking Tony. I mean, I should have suspected it when he didn't seem to be able to stay away from you," Cross's eyes were charged, "I should have left you the fuck alone when you plainly stated that you didn't want me, I shouldn't have gotten myself hurt." Cross glared at Andre's shocked face, chuckling humorlessly.
He slapped Andre's hand away from his body and turned to grab his bag, but Andre was faster to grab the bag and place it behind him.
"Okay, I understand what's going on. I spent the day away from you, and now you think that I cheated on you with ugly Tony. But, come on, baby, you said it yourself, I'm never falling for anyone else, I already have you," He moved to touch Cross but a hard hit met his face.
Cross hit Andre's face hard with a pillow and pushed him roughly, "You're such a devil," Cross heaved, glaring at Andre with hatred.
He moved toward the wardrobe and grabbed his bag; he'd had enough with a selfish, useless man like Andre. He never knew that Andre was the kind of man who had zero shame and conscience. He should never have met Andre.
Andre muttered a curse and hurried over to Cross, who was almost at the door, his heart beating loudly in worry and fear.
"Alright, Cross. Enough!" he slammed Cross's back against the door and caged him on the door, heaving in anger.
"Leave me alone!" Cross pushed against Andre's chest.
"Stay!" Andre pushed Cross back on the door, pinning his hand on his shoulder.
