Chapter 262
Andre's simple writing had evoked a certain kind of need that Cross knew he couldn't fight. The writing was so simple, yet it felt like a command to his heart, a command to sweep everything under the rug and go running into Andre's arms.
Andre wasn't there with him, but Cross could imagine Andre whispering those words into his ear as he pinned him to the bed.
Cross gulped, he was messed up.
He stared at the box and wondered what could be inside it.
Curious, he opened the box.
It was a thin gold chain necklace.
Cross's heart hammered as he took the necklace out of the box. It had a small rectangular pendant, and an engraving caught Cross's eyes.
He moved closer to the light and stared at the engraving.
The letters "A&C" were clearly engraved, an initial to their names, and beneath the letters was a date, a date Cross knew so well.
It was Sebastian's and Zeno's wedding date, signifying the day Andre had first met him.
Cross closed his hand around the necklace and closed his eyes for a while, recalling how they had met on that day.
He had been an ass, and Andre couldn't tolerate him at first, but as they spent time together, Andre became the only person who understood and tolerated him.
"What a dumb gift," he murmured dropping the necklace back into the box.
He placed the box on his table and walked away... hating the way he missed the sender of those dumb gifts.
Andre stared at his phone without blinking, expecting a message from Cross.
He knew it would never happen, but he just couldn't stop hoping.
It was afternoon already, and he knew that Cross received the gift in the morning yet he hadn't heard from him.
He sighed and placed his phone before him on the bed.
He stood up and winced, his hand going straight to hold his plastered forehead.
He walked over to the mirror and stared at his face, gently tapping on the small plaster and sighing.
He lowered his eyes to the table, smiling sadly as he recalled the first and last time he had sex with Cross. It had been on that table, and it was the best sex of his life.
'How could someone be this obsessed with another?' He wondered, feeling pity for himself.
He should be angry at Cross for all the insults he threw his way, but he felt no single atom of anger toward him. He just wanted his baby back.
He turned away from the mirror and grabbed his shirt from his bed. He couldn't keep staying indoors for the rest of the day; he should go keep Pole company.
He grabbed his phone and pulled his door open, "Oh, shit," He jumped in shock as he stared at a pissed-looking Cross in front of his door.
"Cross?" Andre called in utter shock, slowly stepping back into his room and leaving the door open for Cross.
Without speaking, Cross entered and shut the door behind him.
"Cross-oh!" Andre sharply caught the box Cross threw at his chest, frowning slightly.
He stared at the gift he had sent to Cross in the morning and felt the raw rejection in his bones.
"You're returning my gift?" Andre asked quietly.
Cross glanced his eyes around the room, looking a few seconds longer at the dresser table before turning his face back to Andre.
"What does it look like I'm doing, Andre? Gifting you?" Cross questioned.
Andre sighed, "You don't have to return it to me, Cross. You knew that would hurt me deeply but you still did," He strode over to Cross and placed the box in his hand, "I already gave it to you, it's yours now. If you don't want it, trash it, do whatever you want with it, it's yours." He said and stepped away from Cross.
Cross marched over to the table and placed the box there, "I don't want your gift, Mr. Andre. Also, if you're sending a parting gift, you should give it yourself. Not send some annoying chubby man." He said nonchalantly.
Andre stared at Cross in confusion, "I'm sorry for bot delivering it myself. I didn't think you'd want to see me again after last night... would you accept the gift if I came myself?" He asked tenderly.
"What happened to your face?" Cross questioned with a frown.
Andre chucked, "Your wish almost came through, but it wasn't as serious as you'd wished it. I did crash, but I didn't die. Sorry for disappointing you." He replied, smiling sadly.
Cross frowned, "You're stupid." He murmured, feeling guilty for Andre's wound.
Andre sighed, "As much as I want to stay here with you, I can't. I have to leave, I can't stay when you're eyes don't stare at me as they used to. You can leave the gift there if you want. I'm heading out to Pole's." He informed quietly and slowly proceeded toward the door.
"Before you go," Cross blocked his path, folding his arms.
"Cross please, no more insults. Hearing them from the person I love is like a bullet to my heart," Andre pleaded, raking his fingers through his hair.
Cross bit his lower lip, avoiding eye contact with Andre. He indeed has insulted Andre a lot, which might not have been entirely necessary. It was a breakup, not an enmity.
However, when he recalled another purpose why he was here, he was resolved in his decision and didn't feel remorseful for his insults.
"Well, it's obvious this is our last meeting. You don't have to quit your job; I'm leaving the country tonight. But, before I leave, I just wanted to put it in your face that it was your cheating that separated us, Andre," Cross said, raising his phone to Andre's face.
"Here's a video Nicholas sent me this morning, just after your gift arrived." Cross's voice cracked.
"There you are with your stupid, ugly Tony, kissing after fucking in the restroom. And there's the Nicholas you claimed not to have met; he was speaking to you, but, as you can see, you ignored him and left the club with your boyfriend," Cross didn't try to hide his tears this time when he saw the mortified look in Andre's face.
He had nothing to deny anymore.
Andre felt like he'd been kicked in the balls. His body felt a ghostly kind of chill run down his spine as he thought about the video he'd just seen.
He held Cross's shaky hands, and drew him closer while shaking his head, "Baby... that's not me." He whispered.
Cross placed his forehead on Andre's chest and cried, "Stop already, Andre. How much more do you want to hurt me?" Cross lifted his teary face to Andre.
Andre cursed under his breath, "I'm telling you the truth, Cross, that's not me. That's Andrew... my twin." He whispered.
