Chapter 105
Claire woke up the next morning to find herself all alone in bed, and this time, it wasn’t because her mate was out on a business trip but because she had overslept. A look at the time told her that it was already past noon, bright sunlight streaming into the bedroom.
She stretched and got out of bed, feeling refreshed after resting for so long. She first cleaned up before checking her phone as she made her way to the dining room. The maids were nice enough to give her a hearty brunch to make up for her missing breakfast and while Claire ate, she went through her texts and emails.
Sabrina had texted her the night before to check in on her if she had gotten back home safely and also thanked her for the umpteenth time for all her help, Claire quickly replied to her text before moving on.
The next message was from Rosie who was already on her way back, and she had a few emails from her college professors. This was her personal phone which very few people knew so she didn’t get a lot of interaction on it, but she knew that her other number which Rosie managed must be going off with calls and emails at the moment, she hoped that her hardworking assistant would ignore them for the meantime.
There was always more than enough time to deal with the swarm of appointments that would surely come in after her participation at the dinner party that happened the night before but for the rest of this week, she just wanted to concentrate on her wedding and her soon to be husband, and also on her parents who would be coming to share such an important moment with her.
Her parents would be coming the next day, and the mansion was about to be full and bustling again. Rachel had returned to college so there was no reason to invite her friend, she had sent her an email though, telling her about the wedding and Rachel had been quick to congratulate her.
Claire didn’t like to think about the acquaintances she made in college, the people she liked to think of as friends. After the news got out that she would be getting engaged to Lukas, they all stopped talking to her. While they weren’t exactly chatty before, now they took it a step further and blocked her on all social media. It didn’t bother her much because she had a lot on her plate at the time, besides, she wasn’t going to keep being friends with people who were clearly racist.
After having her brunch, she made her way over to Lukas’ office to say hi to him, he was all alone this time, she had expected to see Alec in his office. The Viceroy always seemed to have some report that he needed to give to Lukas at all times.
Rosie still wouldn’t be back till well into the afternoon, and Claire pretty much had the day off, so she had been planning to say hi to Lukas and go catch up on the TV shows that she had been missing out on recently.
Lukas nipped her plans in the bud and replaced her schedule with something else, something that was more enticing than hours of binge watching television shows all by herself.
Claire let herself be spread out on Lukas’ desk and ate out till her legs were quivering and she was sobbing out his name. She arched deeply when he drove into her, his hands tight around her bare waist as he pushed in to the hilt. She would choose this anytime over TV shows.
She did get to watch shows, hours later, after Rosie had returned and Lukas had to go out for a function. They got comfortable in the sitting room, snacking and watching television although it was less than an hour to dinner.
After dinner, they returned to the sitting room to pick up where they left off, only to get distracted by conversation.
Rosie was all too eager to get first-hand details of what had happened during the dinner party from Claire herself, especially how Alina had been put in her place, and Claire was all too eager to humor her.
As they chatted enthusiastically, Claire realized that without asking or going out of her way to find them, friends had come to her, really good friends too.
They only separated when Lukas returned, Claire eagerly going to spend time with her mate. She sat with him and watched him eat dinner, her heart in her leaf-green eyes, this was the kind of routine she could get used to. In moments like this, it was easy to forget that they were two important figures and not two simple people who were in love.
The next day was the start of a new week and not just any week, the ‘wedding week’. And almost like the maids could feel it, they talked with more excitement amongst themselves, smiling more like they were to be the ones getting married.
Lola had decided to wait for Claire’s parents to arrive before starting the decorations, she had already made purchases though, and hired the necessary help to put the wedding venue together. Although it was her job to take care of the celebrations, she knew how important it was to Julia and Senite.
Claire didn’t need to give directions to her parents this time, they already knew the way to Lukas's mansion, neither did the bodyguards at the high gate need clearance because they were already well acquainted with the parents of their Luna Queen.
“Mom! Dad!” Claire was at the door to receive them as always, the brightest smile on her face.
“Sunshine! You look so well,” Her mother gushed, pulling her into a tight hug while her father ruffled her hair.
“Don’t sound so surprised, Mom,” She said wryly, stepping back.
Julia just beamed, the smile lighting up her face, “I’m sure it’s all Lukas’ doing, where is he by the way? I want to say hi.”
“He’s out at the moment and he said to apologize on his behalf that he wasn’t here to welcome you,” She said perfunctorily.
“That’s unimportant- oh, Senite!” Julia cut herself off, hurrying forward to meet the other lady. “How lovely to see you again,” She smiled, hugging her.
Claire looked up at her Dad who just proudly watched his wife immediately get drawn into the wedding preparations. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say that she’s happier to see everyone else than me.” She pouted.
Her Dad just gave her a little side hug, “We’ll be here for a full week, I’m sure that you’ll get your turn soon.”
Although Claire tried to get her Mom to rest a bit after her long drive from Lockwood, Julia insisted on being shown the sunroom, and then launched into titillating conversation with Senite and Lola. Claire had no other choice but to give up on her Mom, going with Rosie to help her dad settle in instead.
Dinner was a very lively affair, the dining table holding more people than it had ever done at any given time. Even Alec was invited to have dinner as well as Rosie and Lola who had stayed behind because she still had a lot to discuss.
Although the mansion was bustling, Claire and Lukas found the time to steal away some private time to themselves. It helped that Julia was too busy discussing the nuances of interior decorating with two other fans, and Matt had found that Rosie was a very good scrabble player so they were both kept busy.
Claire would never get enough of getting filled by Lukas, she didn’t need to keep her sounds in because everyone else was on the ground floor and after dinner, the maids on the second floor all vacated the floor.
She dragged her fingernails down his back as pounded into her, the pleasure making her toes curl. She felt like she would pass out every time that Lukas bit down on her mating mark as he spilled his seed into her, it felt too good.
After they came down from their highs, they decided to take a shower to clean up with was a dangerous idea because she couldn’t possibly be in a confined space with Lukas without her mate putting his hands on her. This time she clawed at the wall as he took her from behind, the outline of his firm torso pressed against her slippery wet back.
She was already half asleep by the time they came out of the steaming shower. They got into bed and she fell asleep in Lukas’ arms like she did every other night.
