Chapter Twenty-four
Claire bit the inside of her cheek, flustered but unwilling to back down. Her eyes gleamed as she taunted Lukas. "You can't do that." It was probably the worst possible thing to say but she couldn't take back her words now.
Lukas was amused by this. "Haven't you learnt yet?" He asked, letting her go. "We'll have lunch now, let's go."
Claire couldn't work up the nerve to make a fuss about lunch, she had already used up all of her moxie and was currently shaking from the thought of being cuffed to Lukas' bed.
He really meant what he said about her being just a toy to him. She was like a hamster in a little metal cage for him to prod and push around. So she grudgingly accepted the offer of his hand and followed him across the bedroom, letting him lead her to lunch.
The mansion was more enchanting than Claire could have ever dreamed up, it was like being in a modern castle, she didn't feel like she belonged here.
Lukas walked with purpose, authority rolling off him in waves and although the servants were scared of him, it was evident that they revered him. Murmurs of 'Your Highness' floated around them as bowing servants hurried by.
Halfway down a gold hued hallway, they were approached by two people. Claire hadn't seen anyone other than the maids that had done the arranging of their luggage. She had woken up on a strange bed, in a strange room, very confused.
The last thing she remembered was falling asleep in the car, Lukas must have had her brought in. Claire quickly cleaned up, feeling icky and was surprised when the maids gingerly approached her, offering to dress her up.
It was very strange for someone like Claire who grew up in a lower-middle class home but they were too nice for her to turn them down plus the dress they picked out was gorgeous, Claire didn't even know she had that outfit.
The bodice was fitted, framing her slender upper body perfectly and the skirt was flowy, the beautiful silk material gleaming. It stopped above her knees, black sandal heels on her feet. For someone who didn't even wear heels to begin with, she had worn more heels in the span of a week than she had done in her entire life.
One of the people approaching was a tall man, he had blond slicked back hair and wore glasses. An older, slender woman was by his side. She had beautiful black hair and judgmental brown eyes. She wore a formal burgundy dress, black pearls winking from her ears and neck.
"Lukas?" She called authoritatively, eyeing up Claire. "Why didn't you tell me you were back?"
"Hi to you too, Senite." Lukas dryly replied, still holding tightly to Claire. "I just returned and I did ask after you but Alec said you were out shopping." He tried to placate her.
It was clear that that wasn't what was on Senite's mind at the moment, she stared irritably at Claire again. "And who is that?"
Lukas was certain that his aunt had already nagged that information out of Alec but he humored her nonetheless. "Senite, meet my Fated mate, Claire." He introduced smoothly. "Claire, my aunt, Senite."
Claire was tense, neither the man nor the woman that Lukas introduced as his aunt surprised by this announcement. The man who Claire guessed to be Alec remained impassive while Senite looked like she would pop a nerve, neither of them seemed shocked.
Senite looked from the human woman to her nephew in disbelief. When Alec had told her about this, she couldn't believe it because she knew how much bad blood there was between Lukas and humans but the image in front of her told a different story.
Lukas held the human woman tightly and he had that steel determination in his eyes again, the kind he got whenever his mind was set on something. It made her despair because she knew that she couldn't change his mind but she had to try anyway.
"You can't possibly want to mate a human?" Senite said with heavy amounts of disbelief and disgust. "She's a human, it simply cannot happen!"
Alec was calm beside a raging Senite. "I usually can't stand her but I have to agree with her, you can't mate a human." He supported her words.
Claire remained quiet this entire time, hope blossoming in her middle. She expected there to be strong opposition to Lukas' decision, it was all going in her favor.
Lukas let go of her hand in favor of her arm and pulled her closer to him. "Oh I assure you I can." He replied to their visible disapproval with a calm amused voice. "I'll mate her, ruin her, and then get rid of her." He said decisively.
"B-But..." Senite stuttered, unable to say more.
Even Alec was at a loss for words.
Claire just closed her eyes in misery, of course she was never going to escape Lukas, not till he had about killed her.
She had stopped begging since they were at the resort because she knew that even if she begged till her throat was hoarse, Lukas would remain unmoved.
"So if you'll excuse us, my Fated mate and I will be having lunch together." He smiled reassuringly, pulling Claire with him.
Senite and Alec stared blankly after them, noting that Claire, the human woman seemed resigned to her fate. This was the least possible outcome in what was already an impossible situation.
"What just happened?" Senite mumbled, her hand over her chest.
Alec remained quiet but it wasn't on purpose, he just didn't know what to say. He had literally grown up with Lukas, he would have never predicted that Lukas would do something like this.
"You know what, let's just give it a couple days." Senite gasped, struggling to take deep breaths. "He's probably not in the right state of mind right now."
Alec sighed, a sound of resignation. "He already spent a week at the resort for her sake and he's planning to hold an engagement ball in a week, I don't think a couple days is going to fix this or him for that matter."
Senite whipped around, her eyes wide in horror. "He's what?!"
