Chapter 109
The next morning was surprisingly quiet, especially after the night that was had before. Before noon, the mansion had already gone back to normal.
Claire’s parents had to leave that morning seeing as they had spent the entire week at the mansion in preparation for the wedding. Meanwhile, Alec and Rosie had their work cut out for them as the information had gotten to the media.
Amidst this chaos, Claire laid in Lukas’ arms in their shared bed, softly talking as the bright noon sun spilled into the expensively decorated room.
Lukas rested his head on her middle, something he had never done before, it made Claire smile. She knew that he would be a wonderful father regardless of if their child turned out to be a werewolf or not.
“Where do you want to go for our honeymoon?” Lukas asked, they had both taken weeks off work for that very reason.
Claire hadn’t put much thought into it so she said the first thing that came to mind. “Moonlight?”
Lukas’ expression soured, “Absolutely not,” He immediately refused.
Claire laughed, carding her hands through his dark hair, “The resort is not so bad,” She said lightly.
She could understand why Lukas would refuse the suggestion, their relationship had been up in flames while they were at the resort. Personally, Claire didn’t mind where they went for their honeymoon, she would be happy as long as Lukas was with her.
“Maybe,” He said vaguely, not sounding convinced…
If they were looking for privacy though, the resort wouldn’t be a very wise choice, seeing as it would be swarmed with citizens after finding out that the Alpha King and Luna Queen were there.
Claire had never gotten the chance to travel around the world and Lukas was happy to oblige her. Their honeymoon could only last so long and soon they had to return to take care of their responsibilities.

***3 Months later***
“You don’t have to do this,” Lukas said softly to Claire, wrapping his hands around her slightly distended middle from behind.
Claire turned slightly to the side with a big smile, “But I want to,” She responded, placing her hands over his.
“I don’t want you stressed,” Lukas remained unconvinced, the maids around them continuing to pack up suitcases.
“I’m hardly doing anything,” She said in amusement, turning around in Lukas's arms.
She was just in the early stages of pregnancy, yet her husband was always keeping a sharp eye on her. He hardly let her do anything by herself and she had to fight to still be able to do college work as well as attend to her duties as the Luna Queen.
She had to constantly remind him that she was just pregnant and not terribly sick. “The maids are doing all the work… by the way, don’t you have to deal with a report?”
Lukas held her close, “I’m done,” He answered shortly, stepping back so he could guide her to the rocking chair he had made for her. “Why don’t you get off your feet?”
Claire followed him even while protesting, “Don’t we have to start our journey now? It’s a long trip to New York.”
Lukas halted in his tracks, “We do, although I’d much rather prefer if you stay behind.”
She moved closer to him again, “I’ll be fine, Lukas, besides you’ll be with me the entire time.” To the maids who were standing quietly, she smiled. “Thank you.”
“We’ll help you take the suitcases down to the cars, Luna Claire.” A maid was quick to offer, stars in her eyes.
Claire was about to protest that they didn’t need to do all that heavy lifting because the bodyguards would do it but the girls were already happily heading for the door, chattering amongst themselves.
She sighed and turned to Lukas, “That’s our cue to leave.”
They were about to leave for an annual conference where all the Alpha Kings and Luna Queens around the world met with the Heads of the Ministry of Human-Were Inter-relations and other important world government figures.
It was a meeting of high importance which required secrecy so it would just be the two of them traveling to attend it. There would be a dinner the night before the conference which would be attended by just werewolf royalty.
They would have to drive down to the airport so they could catch a flight to the location, much like most werewolf royalty would also be doing. Although the details of the conference were a secret, the fact that it would be held wasn’t, thus there was a large turnout of people at the airport to send off their Alpha King and his pregnant mate.
Without lifting a single finger, Claire had become wildly popular amongst Lukas’ citizens as well as other werewolf countries, even humans weren’t left out of the fad. As the only human Luna Queen who also happened to be pregnant, it came as a shock to other humans when they saw how welcoming werewolves were of her.
Claire had expected the airport to be crowded but she didn’t expect there to be this many people, and even more surprising, they didn’t all come for Lukas. Many werewolves were holding up signs congratulating her on her pregnancy although that was already old news.
She would have liked to interact with them a bit and maybe even sign some autographs but Lukas didn’t let go of her hand, so she had to settle for waving and smiling which was more than enough for the people who had come to see them off.
Claire understood Lukas’ trepidation, after the news that she was pregnant was released to the media, Lukas was careful not to let her out of his sight. She knew firsthand just how easy it was to get enemies, especially someone like her.
Fortunately, three months had gone by without any ‘incidents’ but she could tell that Lukas was particularly antsy about the annual conference. He had told her his fears and Claire tried not to let it consume her, as much as she would like to remain in the safety of the mansion, she needed to be at the annual conference to make a positive change.
There was a possibility that certain humans in powerful positions who didn’t want the current structure of things to change would try to go for her because she was the ace up the werewolves’ sleeves.
