Prologue

The sound of my mother screaming shakes me up from my sleep. In a daze I search my room and nothing seems unusual, but another scream hits me and I stand rushing toward the door. I step out of my room and I see red. Blood lines the floor and walls as if someone injured had been dragged by.

I realize that everything has grown silent, which makes me shiver in fear. I try to run but the floor slips beneath me and I tumble down being covered in the red liquid that covers the hallway. I try to hold back my cries and get to my feet, but my legs are trembling. When I finally get my footing I stumble down the hall and burst through my parent's room.

Looking over my mother's body is a man in a black mask. I look down and see she isn't moving and I let out a shocked cry falling to my knees. I know when the man turns to me that I am next, and there is no use fighting. I cry and pray to the moon goddess that I can join my parents in her warm arms, but then nothing.

I open my eyes to see I am completely alone, the man was gone. I let out a shaky breath of relief until I remember what is right in front of me. The smell of blood penetrated in the air.

My parents were dead, and I am now completely alone.
