Chapter 111

Tommy POV...

“Dad what are you talking about? How could Isaiah be my son?” I ask forgetting for a moment that Maya is still on speakerphone.

“It’s complicated son and I honestly don’t understand everything. The Fae did something that should be impossible.” My father was obviously uncomfortable telling me everything, but I was done with him keeping things from me.

If what he is saying is true, he kept the fact that I had a son for all this time. That was unforgivable.

“Dad, what the hell did you do? How did this happen?” I growled through my clenched teeth.

“Son you have to understand...” I cut him off.

“Just tell me! I am sick of you lying and keeping things from me! You lied about this and about how the pack is dying off! What kind of Alpha are you?” I couldn't hold back my anger any longer.

I had been separated from my mate too long and there was nothing to tether me, and my anger was sparking like a live wire.

“Tommy! Hey, it’s okay. I am right here.” Maya’s voice rang out in the room and it immediately made me gasping for breath.

“Maya is listening?” My father asked, his eyes blown wide.

“I am. It’s time for you to tell us what you have been hiding. What did the Fae do? How is Isaiah Tommy’s son?” I could barely speak and I was happy to let Maya take over while I tried to reign in my anger.

My father ran a hand down his face and sighed. “I don’t know the specifics of how they did it, but the Fae had taken samples of all of your DNA when you were connected. I wasn't aware of this, nor were the other parents as far as I know. Then one day an emissary from the Fae world showed up with a pup and asked me to care for him. Things were too hectic in the pack so we couldn’t take care of the pup ourselves, so I found a mated pair who had not yet had a pup and asked for their help. Isaiah appeared to be like any other pup and grew up and with no sign that he was different from other pups. So I had no reason to bring it up, and you were away at college. I wanted you to live your life without worrying about all this.”

“That doesn’t explain how he is my son! The Fae used our DNA meaning Maya is his mother, right?" I ask him desperately.

My dad gives me a look like it should be obvious. “Of course, Maya is his mother but...”

“What dad?” I ask him, my anger simmering close to exploding again.

“He is also Eli, Noah, and Thomas’s son.” He finally says.

It felt like the wind was knocked out of me.

“How is that possible?” Maya asks.

“I don’t know. The Fae have access to magic we can’t even imagine. All that he said was that the pup was born using the DNA of the four of you but he was born completely normal. So they brought him to us. What's happened? Why are you asking about this?” My father looked at me in confusion.

“Isaiah does have abilities. He channeled and absorbed electric energy when the Fae world was destroyed.” Maya explains.

“What?” My father asked in shock.

“The Fae world was attacked and its magic was released in the form of electric energy. It must have sought me out and created a intense electric cloud that I absorbed but Isaiah ran to me the moment it happened and he was hit with the same energy and he survived. His eyes looked just like mine when my electric energy power manifests itself.” Maya explains further.

“Goddess. Is he alright?” My father asks.

“He is but he could have died. We should have been told the truth about this!” Maya’s voice was firm and the sound of her authority sent a shiver down my spine.

“I had no idea. I...” My father seemed taken aback by everything but I was too angry to have sympathy for him.

“Dad I’m sorry but I need to speak with Maya alone,” I said firmly and my dad looked at me with wide eyes.

He went still for a moment and gaped at me like I had slapped him across the face. After a few moments, he nodded and stood. Once he left I picked up my phone and took it off the speaker.

“Maya?” My voice was shaky now.

“Tommy. I can’t believe this. Isaiah is our son? I...I still don't understand how. He has all our DNA...it makes no sense. Why would they do this? We can’t even ask them now. The whole council...is dead.” The last words she says are a breathless whisper.

“Maya, this isn't your fault. The Fae experimented with our DNA and we had no idea. We will figure all this out, but I'm coming there today. I don't want to wait any longer." As I said the words I started to stand and collect my stuff.

Everything here was a mess and my head was even worse. I needed to see my mate, and our....son, now.

“Are you sure Tommy? What about the pack?” She asks.

“We need to come up with a plan to work together. I can’t do that with where my head is, not until I see you. I will let my father handle things for a few days and once we have a plan I'll come back. I..I just need you.” My whole body was aching to be near my mate.

“Okay, hurry.” She says softly.

“I will. I’ll leave right away. I’ll see you soon. I love you.” I clenched my eyes shut and tightened my grip on my phone.

As soon as I ended the call with Maya I headed toward our house to pack. I was angry with my father beyond belief and I definitely didn’t trust him with the pack anymore but I needed to see Maya and my mate brothers. I called my father the moment I was finished packing and I made sure he knew that when I returned I expected him to step down as Alpha right away. I didn't care for a ceremony, it didn't matter now.

I rushed to my car and took off as quickly as I could. I was going crazy here, and I couldn't get away fast enough. If my pack didn’t need me so badly I would never come back here, but as much as I wished I could run away, I needed to come back. There was a bigger problem with the packs, and we needed all the help we could get to fix things.

As I drove I ran through everything in my head. Our pack had dwindled in size over the years, enough that our lands were massive compared to our numbers. Maya’s pack lands were large as well, we needed to bring our packs together and I needed to be with my mate. It made sense for us to just join the packs together, right? It was something that we could consider. I expect that many in our pack would object to this idea, but I didn’t care. Those who objected would be kicked out of the pack.

I was done playing nice. This had to happen, and anyone unwilling to put the pack before their pride wouldn’t have a pack to call home. A wolf without a pack never lived long, and they wouldn't find refuge anywhere else. Maybe it was an extreme thing to consider, but it had to be done. We had a bigger threat, and that needed to be our concern now. We needed the numbers as well if we were going to have to face an enemy like the blood demons. They may have fewer numbers than us, but they were stronger. They had speed and power that surpassed a wolf any day. They didn't need numbers with how deadly they are.

There had to be a reason why they had attacked now, and that was something else we needed to figure out. They had kept to themselves for the last hundred years, staying far into the mountains. How had they found a way into the Fae world? Why did they attack if they couldn't use the power there? None of this made any sense. Blood Demons wouldn't feed on other supernatural creatures, so it couldn't be because they needed to feed. Our blood was poisonous to them as far as we knew. They had attacked the Fae, but were we next? Maybe their feud was with only the Fae.

With the way the Fae council had handled things, it wouldn’t surprise me. This was a mess, one we were running out of time to figure out.
