Chapter 99

(Tommy POV)

When I found her, she was in the kitchen cooking with the window wide open and the breeze brushed through her hair. A small layer of sweat coted her forehead and she quickly brushed it away, whipping flour along with it leaving a streak of the white powder on her face. My senses were in overdrive as I watched her, every part of me burning to touch her and I wondered how the others had managed to not pick up on the change in her scent.

She turned and noticed me a moment later and a big smile grew on her face as she walked over to greet me. I wanted to touch her so bad, but I was forcing myself to remain still until she reached me. We had not really spoken much about what would happen when she was to go into heat, and for a moment I wondered why she had never really displayed symptoms of a heat before now. She seemed oblivious to her condition and wrapped her arms around my neck, and without much effort my fangs grew at the closeness to her. My wolf was pushing his way out and I was fighting him hard for control so as not to scare or mate.

As long as I have been with her, she had never been in heat, and I was pretty sure no one explained it to her. It would make sense that she hasn’t noticed the change since she was never taught how to look out for the signs. She pulled away slightly and a warning growl rumbled from deep within me and my arms tightened around her. I closed my eyes tight trying to stay in control, but her scent was all around me now and I was drowning in it. Before we could pull apart the front door slammed open, and we turned to see Eli standing in the doorway breathing hard with an intense look in his eyes.

He wasn’t as in control as me, and he was already partly shifted.

“Eli? Are you alright?” Maya asks moving away from me and taking a step toward him.

She didn’t make it far before he stalked over to her and immediately buried his head into the crook of her neck. There was no hesitation as she wrapped her arms around him now and he almost made a whining sound at the touch. A small chuckle escaped her lips as she rubbed up and down his back. I felt a bit jealous at the action but nowhere near the amount I would feel is Eli and I were not sharing the same mate. It was more like I wanted a piece of her too and wasn’t interested in waiting my turn. It was as if everything in us was pulling us toward her and she had no idea why but didn’t seem bothered at all.

I walked toward them and rested my head on her free shoulder and nuzzled into the other side of her neck taking in a deep breath of her scent. She hummed at the action and even leaned back so her head rested on my shoulder opening up more of her neck to us. Soon we heard footsteps heading toward us and Noah appeared, his eyes growing wide as he takes in the scene of the three of us.

“Maya?” He says softly catching her attention.

She lifts her head to look at him with a questioning expression. “Yes?”

“Are you okay love?” He asks her softly, moving a slow step at a time and glancing at Eli and I to be sure we were not viewing him as a threat.

We must have really lost control for him to sound so concerned, but I didn’t care.

“Yes, I’m fine. Why?” Maya asks innocently.

“Because love you are going into heat.” Noah says simply. “Your scent is changing and that is why Eli and Tommy are acting like this.”

Her eyes glance at Eli and I the best she can in this position, and I look up at her as she takes it all in.

“I’m sorry, I don’t really understand. Is something wrong with me? I feel fine.” She says with a slight shrug that Eli growls at.

She freezes and looks at him to see his eyes glowing a golden yellow.

“No love you’re fine, but your scent is telling your mates that you are ready to carry pups. You will be very uncomfortable for a few days and will need to me with us several times during that time. It only happens every three months and in that short time your body tries it’s best to conceive.” Noah explains.

I could feel Maya’s breaths getting shallow and her heart beginning to race. She seemed frightened, and it snapped me back to reality and I stepped away from her. I looked over to see Eli doing the same, but he kept his head low as if he felt guilty for how he had acted. Maya let out a shaky breath that sounded close to her wanting to cry, and Noah quickly stepped forward and took her in his arms. Once he was holding her, she began to cry, and soft whimpers left her mouth as she buried her head into Noah’s shoulder.

My wolf whimpered at the sound of our mate crying and he so badly wanted to comfort her but was worried that he had frightened her. Eli’s wolf, however, did let out a sad sound and he took another step back and tried to get ahold of himself again. She turned to look at him and without hesitation she released Noah and made her way to Eli.
“I’m sorry Eli, I wasn’t afraid of you. I was just surprised by this. I have never experienced this, and I don’t know anything about it.” She moved slowly to make sure Eli was okay with her touching him, and when he looked up at her with sad eyes, she didn’t wait another second.

She held him and Noah let out a breath of relief. We really must have not looked friendly for him to be so worried, and I hated myself for letting myself get lost in Maya’s scent that way. She wasn’t even in full heat and my wolf had gone crazy. It made me think more about what I had planned for this evening. I had thought maybe it would be safe to still have the ceremony since Maya was not too far into her heat yet, but with how I reacted to her, I was worried. Would other males react the same way to her? Her scent seemed to even be getting stronger the longer we stood here.

I needed to call my mom right away and tell her to stop preparing for the ceremony, there was no way now that Maya could be around the pack. As much as I wanted this night to happen and had been so excited about it on the way here, Maya needed to have this time to rest and learn about what was to come. I took out my phone and stepped out to call my mom.

(Noah POV)
I had not seen Tommy or Eli lose control like the had the moment I arrived back home, and because of this I was afraid for Maya. Unfortunately, I also seemed to have scared her by the way I reacted and told her everything like I had. Not the smartest thing I had ever done, and as much as I appeared unaffected by her scent, it was making my head foggy. I closed my eyes and took in a few deep breaths trying to clear my head, but I was only it more y Maya’s scent that seemed to only grow stronger now that she was holding on to Eli. One of us needed to keep our heads through all this and I had hoped it would be me, but even I was falling into my instincts.

“Where is Thomas?” I ask Maya suddenly.

She turns to me but is still trapped by Eli’s arms around her waist.

“He went upstairs about a half hour ago.” She said.

I didn’t waste any time making my way to the stairs and made my way to Thomas and Maya’s room. I quickly opened the door finding a slightly stunned Thomas looking back at me.

“You need to come downstairs now!” I tell him through gritted teeth.

“What’s happened?” He asks calmly.

“Maya is going into heat and we are having a hard time keeping in control. I need you to take care of Maya! She doesn’t understand what is happening and we are falling to our wolves’ instincts and she isn’t ready for all that needs to happen.” I try to explain.

He stands instantly and nods. “I’ll take care of her. What do you need me to do?”

“Keep us away from her, at least for now. There is not telling what we may do.” I reply taking a few more breaths.

Being so close to Maya, and her emotions all over making her scent stonger, was making it hard for me to keep my wolf from overwhelming my thoughts.

"You guys wouldnt hurt her." Thomas says as we make our way downstairs.

"No, but she is scared. i didnt eaxctly lay it on her easy and we are all a little too effected to think clearly and not ravish her. We need you to keep us away so she can take everything in and let us know when she is ready for us to touch her. I just dont know how reliable we will be to do so on our own." I explain to him.

He nods in undertanding.

Knowing he undertadn s allowed me to let my control slip for a second and I let out a small growl when he arrived down stairs. This was going to be the hardest thing i have ever had to fight, and that's saying something.
