Chapter 129

**Maya**

I knew Freddie would never let my pack live. I was counting on it. Guys like him were so predictable, and I have seen enough movies and read enough books to know how a villain thinks. They never want to give up power or show weakness. Giving in to demands would make him look weak, and there is no way he would agree to what I have asked.

The thing is, I am exactly where I need to be. Freddie is leading me toward the center of his army now and I am waiting for the right moment. Freddie seemed wary when he first saw me and rightfully so. I am not the same girl I was, and I am far more powerful than he knows now. There is no way I will show my cards yet, not until the time is right.

"Why did you poison them?" I ask him as we pass more and more of his servants who look wild and unstable.

"When I first went to them they were happy to live quiet lives far away from everyone. They had come up with a system of blood sharing that made it possible for them to be self-sustained. That was until I offered them something they had not tasted before. My blood became like a drug to them and soon they would do anything to have a taste of it." He explains as I let him lead me away.

"They had no idea that your blood was slowly killing them." I continue his story.

"No, they didn't. By the time they realized it was too late. Most of them had turned feral and lost. They looked to me for direction which I was more than happy to provide." He glances at me with a wide proud smile. "Now sister. Well, I guess I don't need to call you that now seeing as my identity as your brother is no longer needed. Care to tell them what is different about you? There is something beyond the obvious makeover I can feel it."

"You're right. There is something different about me. Would you like to see?" I ask sweetly.

He crooks a brow at me for a moment. "I prefer to wait until we are away from here to see all your new toys. I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt." His words sound more like a threat than a warning for me.

"Actually..." I stop suddenly making him stumble a little. "I think now is as good a time as any."

I was right where I wanted, smack in the center of everything.

"You see brother, I have transformed," I say letting the crackle of my power escape through the pores of my skin burning him enough that he instantly drops his hold on me.

He pulls his hand back with a hiss and cradles it against his chest. his eyes shoot up to me with confusion and a bit of uncertainty.

"What the hell?" He asks glancing down at his injured hand and I watch as his expression goes from confusion to anger. "You shouldn't have done that."

He turns toward the direction we had come from and begins to shout out orders. I hear the sound of painful screams and the motion of several lines of the Blood Demons rushing forward.

"I would have spared you having to see your pack die, but you have forced my hand. Besides maybe seeing their blood soaking into the ground of your land will be motivation enough to show you I am not to be tested. you will go with me and you will stand beside me when I take my place in this world. I will be King of the supernatural world and you will sit beside me." He spits out before nodding to one of his henchmen to pull me along.

The screams behind us only grow louder and even though I was expecting this it doesn't make the idea of my people getting hurt any less worrying. I know my people can fight any of these people without my help, but they still need to get the upper hand one I learned exactly how to give them. I just need to go through the first part of my plan which needed to happen right now. I could already see Freddie making the hand motions to open the portal he planned on jumping us through. If he gets away this time, there is no knowing what other resources he has that he can turn on us.

This needs to end here and now.

I shut my eyes and pull on the cord of my strongest power. The pure light energy crackles and sparks inside me but as soon, as I get a handle on it, it becomes calm and lowers to a soft vibration waiting for me to release it. When I open my eyes Freddie is watching me and his eyes widen when he takes me in. No doubt he can see the way my eyes have glazed over to pure white and the slight glow that is starting to surround my body.

"What are you doing?" He chokes out letting the fear he was trying to hold in escape as he staggers back.

"Finishing this," I say and with the flick of a switch, all the light energy inside me is released in a forceful pulse that takes out every single body within fifteen feet of me.

My eyes are locked on Freddie as the light energy hits him and burns him into dust instantly along. He is dead now but his army is very much primed and ready to take out my people.

I am standing in the center of a scorched patch of land with blast shadows surrounding me. My chest rises and falls and the sparks of my power dance off my fingertips as I turn to the remainder of Freddie's army whose attention is focused solely on me now.

I didn't want to kill any more of them than needed so I needed to come up with a solution fast.

During my coma, I had come into my full range of powers, and thankfully that included the powers I share with Thomas. The power of the Fae world deep within me has amplified the mind powers I possess. So as soon as the first wave of Blood Demons is almost close enough to me that they only needed to reach out and grab me, I let out a pulse of my mind power and freeze them in place.

The bodies stiffen instantly and with one more tap of my power, they drop unconscious to the ground. I step past them and focus on small groups of Blood Demons until more of them fall at my feet. They aren't dead though, not until we know for sure that they pose a threat to us. They are sick, but there may be a way to help them.

There is no way I will kill an entire race until I know for sure there is no way to save them. I make my way toward the border of our lands and see that many of the Blood Demons had been able to break through the barrier and my pack are fighting hand to hand with them using small weapons and not much else. They clearly hadn't had the chance to plan a full attack before Freddie had arrived.

"Lower the barrier!" I call out as I quickly make my way to the barrier.

I see the Mage woman standing off to the side and with a swipe of her hand the barrier falls just in time and I pass the threshold into our pack lands. I shoot out my mind power to stun as many Blood Demons as I can until I am close enough to my pack. Within a breath, I shift into my wolf and let out a howl that causes the ground beneath me to shake. My eyes whip around and I watch as the people of our pack start to whimper and fall to their knees. A ripple of motion spreads through the crowd as my pack members are forced to shift into wolf form. I realized in my coma that the ability to shift was never lost. I felt the link to my pack growing by the minute and I could sense their wolves waiting and fighting to break out.

They had lost the ability to reach their wolves, and as their Alpha, I could bring their wolves out. As soon as my pack had shifted, their instincts took over and they fought against the remaining Blood Demons.

I feel a tug inside me and I turn to see three wolves running toward me and Thomas right behind them. My mates surround me and whine and nuzzle into my fur and I do the same. I had never been shifted with them like this, and with the silence of the fight surrounding us begin to die down, I take the moment to soak everything in.

The scent of blood is unmistakable but above it is the smell of my mates and our pack. It doesn't take long for the shifted wolves and those from the other packs who had not shifted to surround us.

"You did well Maya," Thomas says kneeling down in front of me and lowering his head to me.

I yip at him happily and watch as the crowd around me lower their head and bow before me. I want to back away from their reverence but I feel a nose poke into my side and turn to see all of my wolf mates do the very same thing.

We had won, but our journey is far from over.
