Chapter 112

Maya POV...

Knowing that Tommy was on his way made a part of my heart ease. I had felt a slight ache since we were apart, but now that I knew he was coming I felt how much the distance had been hurting me. I had tried to be strong for my pack and my other mates and...our son, but I could only pretend for so long. So much had happened in such a short time that I was starting to feel exhausted. I took my time rejoining the others, and when I entered the room all eyes turned to me.

Eli stood and rushed to me and I guessed he must have noticed how tired I was feeling. Before I could say anything my legs wobbled a little and he held me up a little more.

“Hey, what is it?” He asked me softly as he lowered me to the couch.

I let out a shaky breath and let my eyes lift to the small body curled up in Noah’s lap. Maybe it was more than exhaustion and a lot like shock that had my legs feeling like jelly.

“Tommy is coming.” I managed to get out, and I heard the breaths of relief the others made.

I guess I hadn’t been the only one who had felt the gravity of our separation.

“About Isaiah...” I didn't know how to tell them that somehow this little boy was our’s in a very real sense.

He shared our DNA, all our DNA. Something that should be impossible and yet the proof was a few feet from me. I let my eyes examine him for a minute and it hit me like a punch to the gut that he shared features of each of us. It was crazy to notice what had been right in front of my eyes this whole time.

“What?” Eli asked running his hands gently up and down my back.

“Tommy spoke to his father, trying to find out more about Isaiah when I told him what happened. God, this is so crazy...” It was so hard to just come out and tell them the truth but they needed to know. “He said that the Fae had brought Isaiah to the pack after he was born. He gave Isaiah to a mated couple who had no pup of their own and they raised him until they died.”

“Isaiah came from the Fae world?” Thomas asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “He doesn’t look like a Fae child.”

“How do you mean?” Noah asked looking at Thomas.

The next moment Thomas went from being the stunning mate I had come to know and changed in appearance almost instantly. My eyes widened at the sight of him, and the others fell into a wide-eyed stunned silence.

“Fae have the ability to hide their true form from others. Fae wear a layer of magic to give the illusion that we look more human especially to other races. I had been sent to the human world so often it was easier to keep my human form all of the time, and I didn’t want to scare you guys.” He explained but we just gawked at him.

“This talent though is not taught until puberty, since the magic is too complex for children to master. So if Isaiah is Fae he shouldn’t be able to hide what he is.” He explained.

I glanced over his new form over and over in disbelief. He was beautiful, and a small smile crept up on me when I saw the cute little points of his ears. How could he hide this from me? I mean he was right, I would have been in total shock to see his true form. His skin sparkled slightly like little pearls coated his skin and his eyes were brighter and a stunning golden color. His hair was pure white and braided along his head and its length ran down past his shoulders. I couldn’t have imagined such a form even if I tried. Even his clothes were different, they now were a soft silky powder blue color with golden accents.

I stood then and walked over to him, and his eyes followed my motions until I stood right in front of him. He looked up at me and I could see a spark of guilt and fear in his eyes but I just smiled down at him. I slowly moved my hand from my side and brushed my fingers along the points of his ears. He shuddered under my touch and I let out a small laugh at his reaction. That was a cool trick!

“You are beautiful Thomas,” I tell him softly.

He let out a sigh of relief and leaned forward to rest his head against my stomach and I met his action by wrapping my arms around him. His arms wrapped around my waist and we stayed like that for a few calming moments before he pulled me down into his lap. I loved this new side of him that was more human. Once he let himself show affection and emotion it was like all his control had fallen away, and he was showering me with a lifetime of love. He nuzzled his nose into my neck and a tingling sensation traveled down my neck and arm and I gasped.

“What was that?” I asked him.

“Fae mates send magical signals through touch as a way of sharing our emotions sometimes. That’s why we don’t always show it by actions and words. We don’t need to. But with my human layer in place, I couldn’t use the full extent of my magic.” He demonstrated the action again and it earned another gasp from me.

He was right, I felt an intense flood of emotion that was too much to work through. Like every emotion he had felt over the last few months rushed over me all at once. I laughed softly and just let myself feel it all, and completely forgetting that we were not alone. That was until Eli cleared his throat behind me.

“Not to interrupt this interesting moment, can we continue with what Tommy told you?” I could hear a small bit of jealousy in those words so I agreed.

I turned in Thomas’s lap so that I leaned against his chest and faced the others.

“Tommy was able to get only a little information from his dad because he didn’t seem to actually know much. He said that the Fae told him they were experimenting with creating a bond similar to ours without the need to connect five people together. They claimed that Isaiah ended up not having any abilities and they brought him to the pack to be raised in the human world.” I was so scared to continue so I paused for a moment.

“How did they connect all that energy without connecting a group as they did with us?” Noah asked holding on to Isaiah a little tighter.

“They used our DNA.” I blurted out.

The room fell completely silent for a few long moments and my heart began to race in panic.

“So you're saying that Isaiah is your son? And who else’s...Tommy?” Eli asked.

“No. I mean he is all of ours. He carries all of our DNA.” I say again.

“That isn’t possible. How can one child carry the DNA markers of five people?” Noah asks in disbelief.

“It has not been possible, but I had heard of some Fae scientists trying to breed children in a way to make them stronger. Combining certain magical abilities and seeing how much a child could contain. The results varied greatly. Some of the children displayed one or two abilities at the most, and others didn’t show any differences. I had not heard of this ever happening though.” Thomas admitted.

“So that was why Isaiah was able to channel the electric current like you?” Eli asked me.

I nodded. “I don’t know why the Fae thought he didn't have any abilities, but he clearly does. Maybe they hadn’t activated yet, like how they did with me.”

“This is crazy. Does he have all your powers then?” Noah asked looking from me to Thomas as if the question was to him as well.

“It is hard to say. We will have to wait and see, but it’s possible. Maya’s powers presented themselves in stressful situations, it may happen the same way with Isaiah. He saw Maya absorbing the pure power of the Fae world and must have been scared.” Thomas theorized.

“Wow. So what do now?” Eli asks nervously.

I shake my head. “ I honestly don’t know. I guess we need to wait and see if anything more happens with Isaiah.”

“Do we tell him?” Eli asks, his expression sad.

He wanted to tell him because having a pup with your own blood meant a lot to them, or so I was told. Eli wanted Isaiah to know that he was his true son, that much was clear by the look in his eyes.

“He is young but he might understand. I think it would be okay to tell him.” Thomas offers and a glint of excitement flickers across Eli’s face.

“I wonder though. Since Maya holds a piece of all of us, and she may eventually carry pups, will they be like Isaiah?” Noah asks.

“In our case, I think anything is possible. I guess we will have to test that theory.” Thomas says teasingly and I elbow him in the ribs causing him to let out a grunt.

“There will be no pups just yet. One kid with crazy abilities is about as much as I can handle right now.” I say back.

“Just a thought,” Thomas says, and we all laugh.

Trust me I was curious too but this so was not the time to find out, not with a war brewing.
