Chapter 115

*Thomas* *POV*

The room falls silent as Maya’s eyes flash with the electricity that flows through her. The eyes of everyone in the room grow wide as they take her in. They don't know that I can see the pulses of blinding light that pump through her veins like blood. As a Fae, my eyes can see more than most and I can see every aspect of Maya’s powers when it rests under the thin layer of her skin.

Most creatures can not see it for the simple fact that their brain can not accept something unfamiliar. They don't notice that Maya always has a glow about her because all they see is a woman who is a threat to their traditions.

“What are you?” The dick alpha asked my mate.

“I am...” I knew she would sell herself short so I cut in and made the truth known.

“She is the queen of the supernatural,” I say and Maya turns to me with fear in her eyes but her face stone cold.

She was trying hard not to let these Alphas see her fear but I knew, I always knew.

“You mean to say she wishes to rule over all of us?” The alpha asks and I am close to locking his mind in a wave of pain he has never felt if he did not show my mate some respect.

I could feel my mate brothers bristling as well. We could step in for Maya to defend her but this was her stage. She needed to prove that she was the queen these men needed, and we needed to let her.

“I was born as half-wolf half-Fae and bonded to four males. In doing this, the Fae insured I would be the most powerful supernatural to ever be born,” she explains.

I feel a sense of pride listening to her true self even in words alone.

“You are an abomination!” The first Alpha says. The only one who seems to not know how to shut his damn mouth.

I have changed a lot being around my mate brothers it seemed, and holding back my emotions seemed to get harder every day.

“She is your queen,” Tommy growled out, and the others shuttered at the power of his Alpha tone.

“We do not need a queen to rule us. We are Alphas! No woman will take what is ours’s!” One of the other Alphas says.

Maya sighed and stood. “You all assume I wish to hold the power of your packs and make you bow to me, but that is not the case. I do not wish to take your packs for myself. I would not have the time to clean up each and every pack in this world. You all will remain Alphas under my orders. I hoped to handle this in a more diplomatic way, but it seems that you only respond to direct threats. You have seen only a small amount of the power that lies within me and I do not wish to rule with fear, so listen carefully.”

The four of us watched Maya with newfound fondness. She had been battling to accept her place in all this but before this crowd of haughty alphas, she is giving no sign at all that she does not wish to lead as a queen to them. Maybe after all this is over she will retreat to her old beliefs but right now in this room, she isn’t showing a sliver of doubt.

“If you do not stand with us in the fight against the blood demons, you will be removed from your positions as Alphas and the role will be handed down to the Beta of your pack. I can see the looks in their eyes even now. They would love to be given the chance to take your place if you should be removed. So think carefully on what we are discussing here because none of you are safe from my direct command.” Maya said, her voice echoing in the complete silence of the room.

I can see her chest rising and falling as the adrenaline rushes through her making her heart beat hard and quick.

“My pack will fight.” One alpha says and stands tall.

“Ours as well.” Several others say as well and join the others by standing firm.

Maya nods to each one in thanks and her attention turns to the alpha who suddenly has fallen very quiet.

“And you?” She asks him.

He glances around the room and scoffs. “I do not stand with you nor will any of my pack. I do not believe our pack is in any danger and we will not join a fight that has nothing to do with us.”

I sigh and shake my head. He had just made a big mistake.

Maya’s eyes focus intensely on him. “Is that your final decision? And do all with you agree with this decision?”

The others in the pack glance at one another but seem too afraid to speak up against their leader so they say nothing.

She looks past the Alpha to the man standing behind and to the left of him. “You are the Beta of this pack, yes?”

The man steps forward and lowers his head. “Yes ma’am.”

“Good, you are now alpha of this pack. Does anyone object?” She asks looking to the others who had accompanied the alpha. No one speaks up.

The Beta keeps his head lowered. “Thank you, ma’am.”

He stands and looks down at his alpha who still remained seated. The alpha scoffs and looks up at the man.

“You intend to take my place boy? You will have to kill me.” He says with a deep threatening growl and jumping from his seat.

The Beta steps back and falls into a defensive stance and waits for his alpha to attack. Even with the amount of anger the alpha is showing I wonder if he will be able to shift. From what I have been learning many of the wolves have been having trouble shifting. Most packs are unable to, and only a small number still can. It seems that the urge to shift has begun to die out as the packs dwindle in numbers. Yet another problem we needed to address at some point.

“Stand down!” Maya’s voice boomed and she stepped back in shock at how loud her voice became.

The alpha stumbled to one knee and whimpered in pain along with everyone else in the room, except me. Maya looked at me with eyes wide. Her alpha voice was present and very powerful it would seem. She shook her head and turned her attention back to the alpha in question, trying to keep her confident facade intact.

“You have humiliated yourself enough. Your Beta has been appointed alpha and you will yield to him or you will face the penalty your new alpha will enforce.” She warns the man.

He looks at her with hate in his eyes but nods subtly. The beta stands tall and walks over to the seat where his Alpha once sat and everyone else takes a seat once again. Maya waited for a moment before taking her seat and then she smiled politely.

“Good. Now let’s figure out what we're going to do to save our people.” She says and leaps right into the strategies she had been working over.

The alphas listened intently and I could see that many were clearly finding Maya rather fascinating. She had captured their attention for sure, and now she would have their help. All in all, I would say our meeting of the Alphas passed as I had expected. A bit of drama, but successful in the end. At least for now.
