Chapter 100

(Thomas POV)
I hadn’t seen the guys this put out in a way that they seemed utterly out of control. I followed Noah downstairs and took in the scene of Maya trembling slightly and Tommy’s head low gripping tightly to his seat. I immediately made my way to Maya who was currently holding on to Eli and tried to pull her from his grip. He released a low and rather violent growl the moment I touch her, and I quickly pull my hands away. I wasn’t afraid of the wolf, but I didn’t want to have to hurt them to get Maya away.
Although I found expressing emotions difficult, I had grown attacked to these guys like they were my own family. So, I wanted to go through this without having to hurt them, but if it came to hurting them or protecting Maya, I would choose her. She and I had a different bond than the one she shared with the others. One where our energy mingled and embraced each other as if we were one soul thanks to our Fae blood.

As Fae, we did not participate in much outer displays of affection, but we felt deeply for our mates. Fae energy was incorporated in every part of our world, and when we bonded with a mate our souls join in a special way. She could feel exactly how much I cared for her without me needing to say it in words. She was everything to me, and I loved her completely. Now I would need to depend on our bond to ease the pain she was feeling and protect her in this vulnerable time.

The others hadn’t spoken to her about this phase of her wolf side most likely because her wolf side had been dormant in way of her Fae abilities. They perhaps were not expecting her to ever go through this, but here we were, and we needed to think of something quick. Firstly, I needed to be sure Maya was ok, and her shaking wasn’t because of fear for her safety.

“Maya, are you alright?” I ask her softly.

She shakes her head. “Yes. I just feel too hot, and my skin feels like a million ants are crawling all over them.”

I looked to Noah now. “Is this normal for a female in her condition?”

He was a bit unstable on his feet and he needed to take a few deep breaths before answering me. “Yes, her body is crying for her to be touched. Her scent is growing stronger too.”

I took in that information and tried to think of the best way to deal with this. Eli already had a tight hold on her, and although he had growled at me, he seemed the calmest.
“Maya, I know you are scared because this is something you have never experienced before, but will you let Eli help you? He is doing well now, and you seem to be comfortable with his touch.”

She glanced down at Eli for a moment before her face became distorted and she let out a cry of pain.

“It’s moving too quickly! We need to do something now or she will be in an intense amount of pain!” Noah calls out over Maya’s cries.

I nodded, acknowledging hos warning. “Maya, I need you to tell me if you feel comfortable with Eli taking you to his room and helping with your pain. I will remain right outside the door if you need me. Is that okay?”

She still seems to be feeling an intense wave of pain, but she manages to nod in agreement. I took this chance to rest my hand slowly on Eli’s shoulder.

“Eli take Maya upstairs.” His eyes met mine and I was slightly taken aback to see the eyes looking back at me.

His wolf was just below the surface if his eyes were any clue.

“Go!” Tommy yells.

Eli moves quickly lifting Maya into his arms and walking toward the stairs. She gripped on to him and let out whimpers as they climbed the stairs. They arrived at Eli’s room before I did, and Eli immediately closed the door behind them. I took a place next to the door, close enough to hear Maya if she seems to be in any distress. She was in a sense a new wolf, and this area of mating may be too intense for her. I would be ready to pull her out if needed, even taking down Eli if I had to.

I could hear Tommy and Noah talking downstairs, a few growls of annoyance and frustration as they waited. They would all need a turn with Maya to calm their wolves I assumed; I admit the subject was new to me too. I had down some casual reading in the pack library about their specific customs but had not studied this area of pack mentality too thoroughly. Hopefully the knowledge I did have would be enough to get everyone through this ordeal peacefully.

When Maya and I had first bonded I had attempted to give her the same attention as the others worried that she would not feel close to me if I didn’t. Now she is happy with the bond we share and even finds peace in it, but at times I wished I could share everything with her. It had nothing to do with not being attracted to her in a physical way, she was beautiful in more ways than one. Our Fae physiology was simply different. We did not possess the sexual drive like other creatures, and such an act wasn’t necessary to bear offspring.

In the Fae world a paring would visit a special chamber where a piece of their bonded soul would be extracted and combined with the energy of our world. The process was more magic than anything else, and in our world a far less risk way of procreating. It also allowed the Fae to be bonded to our world from the moment we are created, allowing us to draw power form our world and go on to use that power when our gifts emerged. Wolves on the other hand were driven by a primal desire for their mates and an urge to expand their pack. A bit of a more archaic practice but understandable given the world they existed in.

That was another thing I had to take into consideration given the dynamics of our group. Maya would go on to bare at least one child with each of her wolf mates, but would we also be able to bare a child. She was not fully Fae, so the process of creating a child in the Fae tradition may not be possible. I didn’t specifically have an urge to produce a child, but Maya could possibly wish for it, and I would not deny her anything. This was something I would need to look into when this period of Maya’s heat was over.

I was deep in these thoughts when the door to Eli’s room opened and he emerged with her limp body in his hands.

“What is wrong with her?” I quickly ask him, taking her from his arms.

“She fell asleep after we finished. She may need to rest before her time with the others. Her scent is mixed with my own now and that should help the others calm enough to wait until she wakes up.” Eli explains.

He seems to wear a look of sadness or guilt, but I don’t quite understand why. “Did something happen?”

“She just seemed scared, and I hate that we were too in our own heads that we didn’t take care of her more.” Eli admits.

“You did what you were able in the condition you were in. You did not do anything against her will even though your wolf may have wished to. You let her choose to be with you and you are letting her rest now. You did well.” I rest a hand on his shoulder as a sign of sympathy. “I will take her to her room.”

“I will let the others know she is resting.” Eli says.

I nod my head slightly before turning and heading in the direction of the room Maya and I share. When we are behind closed doors, I attempt to gently lay her down, but she lets out a whine and grips onto me.

“Please Thomas, don’t let me go.” She begs.

“You need to rest.” I tell her softly.

“I need you. Please stay with me.” She asks eyes briming with tears.

“Of course, I will stay. Are you alright?” I ask her, lowering myself on the bed and keeping her in my lap.

“I just don’t like the feeling of my body being out of my control. It’s like something else is taking over me.” She explains.

“Eli was good to you, though right?” I was admittedly a bit worried about this.

“He was yes. I could tell he was holding back so as not to scare me. I feel bad for him, but I’m glad he did. I have to be with three wolves during this time and I was worried it would be too much. I hope the other are doing ok.” She lets out a sigh.

“Eli said that they should be ok for a short time now that his scent is mixed with yours. I’m guessing I is muting your scent enough to relieve the others from being drawn to you.” At least that was the theory I inferred from his comment.

“That’s good.” She says letting her body relax into mine.

She turned slightly nuzzling her face into my neck and I felt the shock of her energy reaching for mine. She wanted to feel my presence around her, so I focused and let my warm energy surround her.

“Thomas?” She says suddenly.

“Yes?”

“I wish I could share this time with you too.” She says a small whimper following her words.

“What is it?” I ask her.

“It’s starting again.” She says her breathing labored.

“I will take you to Tommy.” I tell her, moving to stand once more.

“No. Please Thomas…I want you.” She says looking up at me with her desperate eyes.

Why was she asking this of me? Wouldn’t one of the others be better suited for this? What could I possibly do the relieve an urge only another of her kind could fullfill?
