Chapter 82
(Tommy POV)
“Dad look I know you want us to try and push my alpha ceremony sooner, but I don’t think I can do that until we have Maya back. She needs to be there; she will be Luna and we should be doing this together.” Tommy says with a sigh of exhaustion.
I had been stuck in my office since I was cleared by the pack doctor to return home, but I dint go back to the home I had built. I ended up spending the night in my old room in the pack house. There was no way I was stepping foot in our house until we were all together again! Not that I actually got much sleep though, I was tossing and turning all night being away from Maya yet again. I knew Thomas would take care of her, but I wanted to be with her. I was tired of us being separated! Eli had stopped by to talk to me after he left the pack hospital and tried to explain himself.
I didn’t open the door to him, but the next day when I met my father in his office, he told me the doctor’s found something in Eli’s examination that didn’t belong there.
“It looks like he was injected with some kind of truth serum, and it would normally not work on a wolf, but they had altered it. The dose was extremely strong, and it made him susceptible to suggestion. He said Maya’s father talked kind to him and convinced him that giving Maya to him would help her. But now that the drug is out of his system, he is beating himself up for giving in.” My dad explained.
After he finished going over both of our medical exams it was also found that I was injected with adrenaline to make me more aggressive, I think they had hoped I would kill Eli after I found out what he did. Then they probably would have killed me after, but the injection made me agitated nothing more.
“You both should be fine, and the drugs will leave out of your systems by the end of the day. Now that you are feeling better, I think it is vital that we move to have you announced as Alpha sooner. As I have told you, my health has been weak lately and a weak alpha means a weak pack. We need to show others that there is a strong Alpha leading our pack!” My dad says.
How could our pack or anyone else think we are strong without a Luna? It was worse because I had a mate and she would not be made Luna the same day I am made Alpha, that was unheard of. It would cause rumors to spread that our pack is unstable. I couldn’t go forward until Maya was beside me, and not just her. I planned on all five of us leading the pack together. So, I would not become Alpha until our little family was all together again!
“I understand that it does not seem like the right time, but we need to do something. Something to help the pack feel safe and secure again after what we have been through. I love Maya as if she were my own, but we just don’t know what will happen and we need to do something soon.” My father looked tired.
He needed me to take over, but I just couldn’t. Before I could deny him again there came a knock at the door.
“Come in.” my father called.
One of the men who patrol the border walks in with eyes alarmed.
“What is it? What has happened?” My father stood and walked around his desk.
“I was doing my patrol and I discovered what looks like a very bad car accident.” The man says quickly.
“Humans?” my father asks.
The man shakes his head quickly. “No Alpha. They were the cars I saw the young Luna leave in, but there were only bodies of some of Alpha Kace’s men. The young Luna and her companion were not there!”
My heart stopped when he said Maya was in an accident, but I relaxed slightly when he said she was not among the dead.
“Was Alpha Kace among the dead?” My father asked.
“No, Alpha. We tracked the Luna’s scent, but it led to an open field and then it was gone.” The man said.
“Thank you. You and the others keep an eye out in case Alpha Kace tries to get in again.” My father says.
The man turns and leaves.
“At least Maya wasn’t among the dead.” My father says as he sits.
I can’t help the scoffing sound I make. “No, she isn’t dead, but she is missing!”
My father sighed and dragged his hand down his face. “I know. I just don’t know what more to do at this point Tommy. All I can do is hope our men can pick up her scent again, but there is no way of knowing where she is right now.”
I sat back in my seat; he was right. We had nothing more to go on, and I wanted to run out and search for her myself, but I was needed here. My father needed me, and the pack needed me.
(Maya POV)
“This is the same place we stayed in, before right?” I ask Thomas.
“Yes, it is. Truthfully, it’s the place I chose for when I was to be bonded to someone. But once I realized what you were, I was happy to stay in the human world.” He says walking further inside.
This time there was a more abundance of fruit and other foods on the counters which added a bright color to the room. It really was beautiful here, and I think I would have been happy here if I could stay.
“So, what is the plan now? Is it even safe for me to go home again?” I ask sitting on the bed and watching Thomas cut one of the fruits.
“I am not sure. I think the council should let us know soon. I am a bit out of the loop now.” Thomas says with a short breathy laugh.
“If my father was killed in the accident, I should be able to go back though right?” I ask him.
“We also have the dark Fae now to worry about love.” Thomas reminded me.
Great someone else I need to run from, but what did they want from me? Since they caused the accident, I assumed they just wanted to kill me, but I wasn’t sure of that. Maybe they too wanted my powers.
“Here eat this and try and rest a bit. There is nothing more we can do until the council explains what they want to do.” Thomas handed me a plate and took a seat beside me.
He picked up a piece of the fruit and lifted it to my mouth, letting the soft skin brush against my lip. I opened my mouth and accepted the food happily, and it was delicious. Juicy and sweet, a lot like a peach but softer. It had to be one of the best fruits I had ever tasted!
“Oh my gosh this is so good!” I say with a moan of happiness.
Thomas laughs and feeds me another. I was aware of the fact that I could feed myself but I kind of liked that he was feeding me. We enjoyed the fruit together for a few moments until someone called out a greeting from the other side of the door. Thomas walks over and opens the door and stepping back to let the person in. His mother steps inside and turns to me.
“Hello.” She says simply before turning again to Thomas.
“Mother, what can I do for you?” Thomas asks coldly.
“The council has sent me to relay their decision on Maya’s situation.” She says.
“And what decision have they made?” Thomas said curtly.
“She is to remain here until such a time that her safety is no longer threatened.” She says with out explanation.
“I can’t stay here! I have to get back to Tommy and Eli and Noah! They will suffer if we are not together.” I say standing and looking to Thomas.
“She can’t stay here mother; she needs to have all of her mates together and the council knows that.” Thomas adds.
“The council told you what you are! You are an important piece to a bigger problem. One only you can solve, but you are unbalanced and untrained. You must be prepared and taught correctly before taking on the role you were born to fulfill. You will bring peace to all supernatural kind, and that is more important than the mating rituals of the werewolves.” I hated that woman so much.
She acted as if I could simply abandon my other mates as if they mean nothing to me. I would never and I was not agreeing to be this person they spoke of if it meant giving up on my other mates for so long. They needed me and I needed them.
“I will not agree to anything! Not until I know I can be with my other mates. I will not let them suffer more because of me. And I may be new to what my powers can do, but I am happy to give a demonstration on how serious I am about us being together.” I say trying to stand tall and confident.
“The council has decided…” She begins but Thomas interrupts her.
“She has given you her conditions. She needs the others, and the council will find a way, or she will not help you.” Thomas says walking over and standing beside me.
His mother’s jaw clenches for a moment. “Very well. I will speak to the council once more.”
“I also want to speak to them. I know you have a way to reach the human world and a way to contact Tommy’s father. I want to speak to them, so they know I am ok!” I add.
“As you wish.”
I had been quite and scared long enough. It was time to stand up for my own life and what I wanted!
