Chapter 60

(Maya POV)

I couldn’t wait to see the home Tommy had bult for us, and I would be glad to see Noah out of the hospital too. As we were leaving the doctor pulled me aside and asked the boys to wait for me outside.

“Is something wrong doctor?” I ask him.

“Nothing too serious yet but I looked over the tests we did. There is intense amount of molecular activity in your body, more than we usually see in our kind. Do you know why?” He asks.

I didn’t want everyone in the pack to know what I was yet, not when there was not much to tell. I had powers but they were random, and I had only been able to bring them forward when I felt threatened. Tommy had assured me that the pack members who had witnessed what I had done when they came to rescue me, would keep quiet until I was ready for the pack to know. But this was my doctor, and it made sense that he should know that my body was a little different.

“I am part Fae.” I tell him straight out. “The alpha who took me said I have powers that have been dormant until now. That may explain the test results.”

He nods. “It would yes. I admit I am not very familiar with Fae biology, but it seems that your DNA is in a state of flux, changing and adapting to what I am guess is the powers presenting themselves. We may need to consult with the Fae about any health issues you face in the future, or when the time comes for you to carry pups.”

My eyes grow wide at the thought of carrying pups one day. I hadn’t thought that far ahead yet, with everything going on but I wasn’t against the idea. I still felt a little young to think about such things and I had barely spent any time with my mates. I wasn’t sure where they stood on the subject or how we would plan on conceiving. My mind began to race over the logistics of having three mates and finding a way to keep them happy when it came to children. Like who’s pup would need to be conceived first? Tommy’s I would guess, since he would need an heir.

“Do not stress over such things just yet, we will cross that road when the time comes. However, since we are unsure if it would be safe for you to carry a pup, it may be best to use protection until we can be sure it is possible for you.” The doctor said pulling me from my mental debate.

“I understand. Thank you, doctor! Also, could we keep the fact that I am part Fae private for now, i am just not ready for everyone to know just yet.” I say standing.

“Of course, anything we talk about will be private unless you give me permission to share the information. I want you to let me know if you are feeling unwell at any time! We want to keep a close eye on things as they progress.” He asks opening the door for me. “Be sure to keep a close eye on Noah as well, he still needs rest.”

“I will.” I wave goodbye to him and head for the exit.

When I walk out the sliding doors, my three mates are all leaning against the car waiting for me. I smiled and shook my head; they were scanning the area I am guessing to be sure I was safe here.

“You guys could have waited in the car you know.” I say walking past them and opening the door to the back seat.

They scrambled to their feet and followed me into the car. They were on edge still and it was making me feel a little uneasy too.

“Guys relax ok? Your nervousness is overwhelming me here.” I tease.

A look of concern flashes across all their faces as they look to me.

“What did the doctor say?” Eli asks.

Is that why they were so on edge?

“He said that it looks like my Fae side is changing my DNA, and to keep him updated if I feel any changes.” I say calmly.

They all watched and waited for more news. I had explained everything to them this morning, everything I knew so far. I was glad that Noah took the news so well, or at least he hide his concern well. In any case, all my mates knew everything I could tell them about what was going on with me and still promised to stick with me through it all. I could only hope that was true.

“He also said that we may have to wait a little longer before we try to have any pups.” I said trying not to laugh as soon as they all became awkward and shifting in their seats.

“I guess it’s a good thing I have my own room then! It will be easier to behave without me sharing a room with one of you.” I push the teasing a little further.

They glance at each other first and then to me with flashes of discomfort and disappointment.

“So, we can’t…you know…BE together? Until we are sure it is safe for you to carry pups?” Eli asks shyly.

They looked so sad and I could not hold in my laughter any longer seeing how disappointed they looked. So, I stopped holding it in and broke out in laughter and they all gave me confused looks.

“I’m sorry! You guys look totally devastated and it is so cute.” I say giggling to myself.

“So, you were just joking because I think that has to be the worst joke you could ever play! I was about to cry.” Tommy whined.

“Oh god, men.” I say rolling my eyes. “Don’t worry, he didn’t say we couldn’t BE together. He did say we need to wait on trying to have pups though since we don’t know how my body will react. So, we have to be careful that’s all.”

They let out a collective sigh of relief that makes me roll my eyes once again. Seriously, men! Tommy starts the car and pulls away from the hospital.
It’s a short drive down a small path along the far side of the pack land along one of the hills that is south of the territory. The hill is covered in soft green grass and specks of yellow pop up here and there, it was beautiful. So, when we pulled up to a large house just beside the hill my heart jumped happily.

“That’s our house?” I ask excitedly.

“Yep! What do you think?” Tommy asks.

“It’s perfect and the view is going to be amazing!” I say with a huge smile.

“That is why I asked for your room to be built looking out over the hill, I figured you would like the view!” He says proudly. “Your room is also the biggest.”

I couldn’t hide my excitement and as soon as the car stopped, I jumped out and ran toward the front door. I didn’t even bother to wait for the others! I opened the door and stepped inside and gasped at the sight of how big it was. There was definitely plenty of room for all of us.

“Should I give you the tour?” Tommy asks walking in and wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Yes!” I say quickly.

“Alright well, this is as you see, the living room! The kitchen is through here, and it has every possible cooking item I could find. That in there is the dining room!” He says as we walk through the rooms one by one until we reach a door next to the stairs.

“What’s through there?” I ask pointing at it.

Tommy laughs slightly awkwardly and scratches the back of his neck. “It’s uh….a game room.”

I raise an eyebrow at him. “A game room? Really?”

A guilty look appears on his face when he sees I am less than impressed. “It’s just that there are three guys going to be living here, so I thought we would need a room for like guy stuff.”

I didn’t really care about the room, but it was funny that Tommy though I would be upset, and I liked seeing how he got so nervous.

“So, is it like no girls allowed?” I ask opening the door and looking in but not actually walking inside.

“What?! No of course not! You can come in!” Tommy says opening the door wider to let me in.

The room is actually pretty cool, and I recognize many of the games he has collected. My dad and I used to always play video games together and I was actually a really good player. I hinted at this when I started talking about a time I had passed a particularly difficult level of one of the games I had picked up. When I turned to look at my three mates, their mouths had dropped open in surprise.

“What?” I ask.

“That was…” Eli began.

“…kind of hot!” Tommy said finishing his thought.

Noah and Eli nod in agreement.

“It’s not like I lived under a rock growing up. My dad loved all these games, so I may have played a few times.” I say with a shrug returning the game to where I had found it.

I wouldn’t admit how well I knew all these games just yet; I would let them figure that out on their own. I turned to them and smiled.

“So how about the rest of that tour?” I ask walking past them and out of the room.

It took a few seconds for them to follow, so I waited for them just outside the door. I was kind of glad there were things about me that actually surprised them in a good way. I hoped there were many more things about me that they would like that much. I wanted to be worthy of them of course, but I wanted them to be happy with me too. So, having an interest we shared really made me happy, because it could be used to help us bond as we got to know each other better. At least I hoped it could.
I followed Tommy up the stairs and he pointed out each of the boys’ rooms before stopping in front of a door at the end of the hallway.

“This is your room.” He says with a smile.

It had double doors unlike the others, and once he opened them, I could see what he meant by giving me the bigger room. It was huge! I was stunned. It was almost as big as my apartment and against the far wall was a king size bed covered in pillows. It looks so soft I couldn’t help but fall on it and sigh contently. It was so soft and comfortable I was sure I would never want to leave it.

“So, what do you think? My mom kind of took over decorating when I asked her to help. She picked out everything.” Tommy said looking a little annoyed.

“It’s amazing!” I say closing my eyes and melting into the bed.

“I’m glad! You also have your own bathroom and a walk-in closet.” He says pointing to the two doors across from me.

“You didn’t have to do all this Tommy; I would have been fine with something smaller!” I say pouting a little.

I felt bad that they all had smaller rooms and I was basically given an apartment sized room all to myself.

“I wanted you to have the biggest room. You are going to have to put up with a lot having the three of us around, the least I could do is make sure you have a nice space of your own.” Tommy said replied.

“Thank you!” I say standing and rushing over to him and jumping into his arms. “I love it!”

“Good!” He says happily hugging me. “We will leave you alone to settle in!”

He sets me down on my feet again, and the three of them offer to give me some time to myself, closing the door behind them as they left.

(Tommy POV)

“So, what was the real reason you got her such a big bed?” Eli asks giving me an unconvinced look.

“I have no idea what you mean.” I say walking past my two friends.

“I think we need to get a lock and key for her room too, what do you think Noah?” Eli asks.

“I agree, it may be the only way to keep Tommy from sneaking into her bed every night.” Noah says playing along.

“Say what you want, but don’t forget I was here first, so I have dibs.” I yell over my shoulder.

“That so does not count!” Eli and Noah said together.

It counted in my book.
