Chapter 125

**TOMMY**

Everything happens so quickly that the last few hours are like a blur. My mind has been racing for the last few hours from the news of our pack. My family is dead. Everyone I knew my whole life is dead. Maybe I'm in shock and that's why I don't feel the immense amount of despair that comes with losing someone important to me.

Suddenly I am standing in the very meeting hall we all gathered only a couple of days ago. The packs have gathered outside of the meeting hall with as many as we can fit squeezed inside.

"The Alpha has not woken?" One of the other Alphas asks.

I am suddenly snapped back into reality and moe my gaze to look at him.

"No, she is not awake yet. There is so much we don't know about Maya's abilities but her mate Thomas believes she is going through a transformation. We don't know how long it will last so we need to move forward with the assumption that it won't be for a while. I know you all had hoped she would be the strongest weapon in this fight, but I do not doubt that all of us fighting together can push through if we need to." I say moving my eyes around the room and locking eyes with each alpha.

"What do you need from us? None of us plan to leave until this war is over." Another ALpha says and I nod at him in thanks.

"I appreciate any help you all can offer and we are happy to welcome you here as long as needed. We have more than enough room for all our packs to live together. We have to find a way to house everyone one but with all the help we have here we will be able to get it done in no time. Firstly, my mate brother Eli will help ready those who will take guard of the border as soon as possible. Noah and he will also help all those able to fight train so that our people can fight side by side in familiarity with each other. We need a army working together and not without direction. We will break into groups. Those who will guard, those who will train, and those who will help prepare to lodge. Let's get started." I say and instantly the Alphas turn to their Betas and begin to give them instructions.

I turn to Noah. "Where is Thomas?" I ask.

"I'm not sure. I assumed he would meet us here but I haven't heard from him." I say, his brows furrow, and mine soon follow.

It isn't like Thomas to just disappear like that. I take out my phone and shoot him a quick text. A few seconds pass and I feel myself get anxious waiting for a reply. After almost a minute a one-word reply comes through.

Thomas: Hospital

My eyes shoot to Noah's and see him look from his phone.

"Go. I'll stay here." He says and I nod before rushing past the crowd and out the door.

His message does not provide much help so my mind is going to dark places while I run toward the hospital. Did something happen to Maya? Was she...

No. I can't think like that. We won't lose her, not now, not ever.

It takes only a couple of minutes for me to reach the hospital and make my way to Maya's room. I step in and see her lying in the bed exactly the way she had been when I left her. Where is Thomas?

I glance around me and stop the first nurse that passes me.

"Sorry, have you seen Thomas?" I ask her.

Her eyes light up. "Of course Alpha. He and another gentleman went up to the top floor."

"Oh okay, thank you," I say accepting her small bow of the head and rushing toward the elevator.

I hit the button for the top floor and wait anxiously trying to come up with an idea of what I'm walking into. The ride is far too quiet but as soon as the elevator dings to let me know I have reached my floor and the doors start to open I hear the sounds of shouting and running. The doors open all the way and people are running and yelling. I step off and glance around trying to find what has everyone in a panic, but it's hard to see anything with everyone rushing back and forth.

A doctor passes me holding a patient up as best he can and I stop him.

"What's going on doctor?" I ask.

"A man came up with the Alpha's mate Thomas and they looked like they came to see someone. The guy was furious and attacked Thomas and turned on some of the nurses. The screaming scared some of the patients and then chaos. We cant get anyone calm enough to evacuate properly." He says with an exasperated sigh.

"Okay. Can you tell me where the guy went?" I ask him.

"He was there and then he was gone. No one saw where he went or how he left so fast." He explains and when the patients he is holding groans I let them go.

I start heading toward the emptier section of the hall. As I pass a few nurses I tell them to try and get everyone to the first floor. I keep walking until I reach the very end of the hallway and I turn into the last room to check and see if anyone is inside before continuing my search for Thomas. What I find has me stopping in my tracks and my feet planted firmly in place.

I see Thomas standing in front of a closing portal holding on to Freddie.

"Thomas!" I call out and Freddie's eyes raise to meet mine. "Freddie, what are you doing?"

A smirk forms on the corner of his mouth before he moves his free hand in an odd motion and pushes his palm forward in the air. The action sends Thomas flying back into the wall and allows the portal to close taking Freddie with it.

What the hell?

Thomas stands and brushes off his pants before turning to me.

"We need to talk." He says and I nod silently.

We decide to talk in Maya's room instead of going to meet the others. I need to know what is going on before I let the others know and hopefully ill have a plan on how to move forward.

"Freddie is responsible for all of this. He's a mage. I don't know how or why he is involved with the Blood Demons, but he is somehow connected to all of this." Thomas tells me. "He has a way of creating and traveling through portals, so we need to find a way to ward our lands against it. Mages are usually the ones to go to for this kind of protection, but finding them is beyond difficult."

"There is nothing you can do?" I ask him.

"My abilities are limited now that the Fae world has been destroyed. I have not shown the full extent of my powers, but my mental powers are more advanced than I have shown before. I would be able to create an illusion that our pack lands are nothing more than an empty field if anyone came near, but all Fae draw power from the magic pulsing through the Fae world. Our bond to our world runs deep. With my world destroyed I am too weak to use the kind of power we would need. Only one person could."

We both look to our mate.

"Can you draw power through her?" I ask him.

He sighs and watches her for a few more moments before answering.

"Theoretically yes, but I don't know how it will affect her if try. She could lose her own power, or she could be trapped in this state longer to recover from what I take," he explains and I realize that any choice we make will mean our people will be in danger.

We need Maya but we don't know if or when she will wake up. If we agree to let Thomas stiffen power from Maya she could be trapped this way for who knows how long. No matter what we choose Maya is the key.

"I don't know what to do. I thought I was ready to become an ALpha, but we are facing so many unknowns and almost impossible decisions that I never expected." I admit dropping into the nearest chair.

"You do not have to make these choices alone. We are here to help make the job easier." Thomas assures me and I know he is right, but I know when it comes to Maya we are all scared to make the wrong decision.

I lean closer to Maya's bed and reach for her hand oldish it gently in my own. I look at how small it is compared to mine and I allow myself a small smile.

"Come back to us baby. We need you more than you know. None of us can do this without you." I say softly to her.

"This is happening for a reason, I just do not understand it yet. There are so many missing pieces of the puzzle." Thomas says taking the seat on the other side of Maya's bed.

"That is because you are only looking with your eyes. There is far more to see when you stop looking and allow yourself to feel her." The sudden voice has both of us jumping to our feet.

A woman in a dark dress stands in the doorway of Maya's room.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"I have come to help you. Maya asked me to come." She says with a smile that sends a shiver down my spine.

"Maya asked for you how?" Thomas asks.

The woman points to Maya. "With her mind. There is much to discuss, but first, we need to fortify the land belonging to your pack. The Blood Demons are very close now. Show me to the border."

We stand looking at her with a mixture of disbelief and confusion.

Who is this woman?

"You are a mage," Thomas says.

The woman smiles and nods.

"Yes. I am a mage, and Freddie is my son."

Well shit.
