Chapter 113

Maya POV....

I was too jittery and anxious to see Tommy to sleep. Noah had carried Isaiah up to his room and the rest of the guys seemed to have gone to sleep as well. I shuffled into the kitchen to make some tea. Soon Freddie came walking in and took the spot beside me and nudging me with his shoulder.

“Hey! You feeling more rested?” He had gone off to rest once he told us everything he knew about what had happened in the Fae world.

My brother had been out for hours and the rest had clearly done him some good.

“Thomas told me about Isaiah. It’s crazy,” he says leaning against the counter.

“Yeah, it is. I still don’t know what all this means. What were the Fae planning all this time? I just don’t understand any of this.” I said with a sigh feeling my body deflate in exhaustion.

“I don’t know either sis, but our Uncle was too busy building his place in the Fae world to bother looking into any of that stuff. I don’t think he cared about anything but making sure the people were loyal to him.” He says shaking his head.

“What did uncle do when the blood demons came?” I ask.

“He mobilized the warriors, but we were outnumbered by a lot. It was pretty clear that someone had betrayed us. The demons knew exactly where to go and had planned everything perfectly. They knew exactly where to hit. Seeing everything...I even wondered if maybe it was uncle who helped them.” He said the last part just above a whisper.

“Why would you think that? Why would he want to destroy the Fae world? He wouldn’t get anything out of it.” I replied in confusion.

“I can’t say for sure, but there was a small group of Fae who were resisting uncle’s declaration of leadership. If I had to guess he thought it would help clear out those who wanted to resist his rule. There were rumors of a small group who had plans to go up against him.” Freddie explained.

“Did anyone make it out?” I ask him.

“I am sure some did, but I ran as soon as I could. I knew I needed to get to you as soon as possible. It’s up to you to decide what should be done about all of this. You know being the chosen one and all.” He said with a teasing smile.

I bumped my shoulder with his and rolled my eyes.

“But seriously sis, we have a crapload of stuff to figure out, and I want to help you. There is no way we expect you to do this alone. We are your family, and we will stand by you.” He says in a more serious tone and my heart clenches at his words.

“Thank you. I don’t know Freddie. The world seems to be crashing around us, how can we fight all this? This pack is barely recovering and even though I hoped we could bring the other packs together to fight with us, I'm not sure if that will be possible. Things have been messed up way too long, and as far as I can tell the pack Alphas don’t trust each other. Pride keeps people from doing the right thing, and seeing as I am a female alpha I can almost guarantee that they will refuse my request.” I say with a sigh.

“Maybe, but we have to try. If we explain what happened to the Fae world, maybe that will be enough to pull them to our side.” He offers but I shrug.

“There is no proof of what happened. The proof lies within me now, and I don’t know if it’s possible to access it. I also don’t know what would happen if I tried. That amount of power could kill everyone.” I remind him.

“You had been training your abilities though, so shouldn’t it be the same?” He asks.

“My powers are like heartbeats in my body. They ripple through me and I have to latch onto them and focus only on that one fleeting beat to be able to call on that specific power. The amount of magic that the Fae world produced made my electric energy magic act as a beacon, and I had no control over it. My other abilities are milder and are easier to control. The electric energy ability is the most unstable and the hardest to keep my grasps on. Now with the extra energy in me, I have no idea what would happen if I tapped into it.” I explain.

“Maya, I know that you are scared of how powerful you are, but we have no other choice. I don’t want to pressure you, not ever, but we need you.” He says almost begging me.

“I know. I know everyone needs me to accept my place, I just have no idea what that means. Yes I have powers, yes I have the urge to stand and fight for my people but how? How can I make the world believe that I am meant to be their so-called savior? What happens if we succeed? What will be left of us?” My heart starts to race and I start to pace as these questions flood through me.

“We need to face one thing at a time. We need to build an army. Right now our obvious enemy is the vampires, but there could be others we don’t know about yet. Witches...mages...and so on. We need to understand who our enemies are. Is it wolves against the world? We just don't know yet." He says and I look at him. “Just tell me what you need me to do sis and I will gladly help.”

“Thanks. I think it would be a good idea for each of us to take on a role in bringing the Alphas together. I think that needs to be our sole focus right now. Like you said, we need an army and that means we need to make things right with the other packs.” I said.

“I agree. That should be the first thing we do. Have you decided on a location for the meeting?” He asked me.

“I hoped that we could find a neutral location, but maybe it would be better if we had the Alpha’s come here. Maybe the fact that our pack is recovering would be enough to show them that we are not a threat.” I offered.

Freddie nodded. “We can begin planning accommodations tomorrow.”

I nodded in agreement. It would be great to have Freddie’s help with all of this.

Before we could say anything more the front door banged open and I rushed from the kitchen to see Tommy standing in the doorway. My heart nearly burst at the sight of him, and I ran into his waiting arms.

“God baby I missed you so much.” He said into the curve of my neck as he nuzzled into me.

“I missed you too,” I said softly hiding my face into his shoulder and taking in a deep breath of his scent.

Fatigue set in now that Tommy was in my arms. He pulled back from me and dropped a desperate kiss to my lips. I was lost in the sensation and forgot all about Freddie. He cleared his throat behind us and we turned to look at him.

“Hey, brother-in-law! You two kids have fun!" Freddie said with a smirk before he headed back upstairs.

I looked to Tommy and we smiled at each other like giddy kids.

“Tired?” He asked.

I was but I needed some time alone with him. Our bond had been strained for too long and we badly needed to reconnect. Saving the world could wait until tomorrow.

“I could stay up,” I told him with a smile.

His smile grew and he lifted me and threw me over his shoulder. “To the bedroom.”

I laughed as he carried me up the stairs taking them two at a time. Yeah, the world could wait until tomorrow. Besides the world couldn’t burn in a day.
