I can't lose you
RENEE'S POV
I didn't have much to offer him. With limited information to give, I was only allowed to give him the information that I knew. My mother was taken. No reason. No ransom. Gone without a trace or reason as to why or even a bargain in return. Just gone.
It was difficult to explain the story to someone outside of the home but I also found it relieving.
"Why are you a Hunter?" I questioned.
"When the lifestyle run through your family, it doesn't really seem like a choice." He admitted. "My stepfather, my mother, my step sister, my stepbrother. All hunters."
"A family business?" I asked in wonder.
"Somewhat." He looked distant now. "I'm nothing like the rest of my family. I hunt for different purposes."
"Your purpose?" "For protection. For balance. I don't hunt what don't need to be hunted."
"What do you mean?"
He sighed as if he had explained this story too many times."There are supernatural beings that live their lives as humans. Businesses. Families. A life. Like your family. The Halls. The halls construction site has practically built this town. This building. This building was built by the Hall's company." He admitted. "Then there are some who could care less about playing by the rules. They are the ones I look for."
"The bad ones."
"My family is different. They don't believe in the possibility of harmony between different creatures. To them, humans are superior. So they hunt them without reason.
"I just...never was one to picture this." She claimed.
"An engagement ring?"
"The ring. The proposal. Marriage. A werewolf." She cut her eyes at me before reaching into my dresser for a large t-shirt. "Speaking of marriage." I grabbed her shirt, pulling her along with the material until she was resting on my lap.
"When will that wedding be an option?"
Her smile expanded right before it faded away. It seemed as though the topic was an extreme one and I had a feeling I knew why.
"I'm sorry, I know this not even the time-"
"No." She repositioned herself; our bodies now facing one another as she looked at me. Her fingers cut through my hair before she leaned down and kissed me. "It's definitely a topic we have been too distracted to talk about."
The topic was important; however her mother was definitely much more essential here. Her return was our focus.
I ran my hand up her back, watching as her body tensed up beneath my touch. Chill bumps flourished as her eyes closed in the moment.
I looked at her, wondering if what lurked on my mind was the right thing to say to her. I couldn't. I inhaled; my canines now nipping at my bottom lip in hunger for her body. Her scent, her presences was definitely enough to get me excited. I kissed her neck; my lips now drawing across the mark I had imprinted on her.
"I'm lost." I heard her say.
"What do you mean?" I whispered.
"Everything...everything seems to be eating me up."
Her forehead pressed up against my own before she closed her eyes. She sighed as she pulled me closer to her. "I feel like.." she shook her head, refusing to believe her own thoughts. "You are all I got left."
I looked at her; it was always difficult to watch her become so emotional. With tears rolling down her discolored cheeks, it was hard to sit back and do nothing to stop this.
"You have a family here. You know this." I corrected. The people that walked in this home loved her as their own family however we knew we could never compete or replace the blood she had lost.
I had previously taken the blame for the events. I was sure the disappearance of her mother was my fault. I felt as though she was caught up in someone's needed revenge towards me. "I know." She whispered; her grip on me tightened before she greeted me with a kiss. "I love you."
I have seen the slaughtering. The manipulations. The evil deeds. The greed that came with them."
I always found it funny that they called supernatural beings monsters but what they did, nothing could compare. "Even your mother?" I thought that woman to be peaceful. Someone who thought otherwise.
"She used to be that monster. Many years ago, she found another path. My way. She always said my step father had changed. He had become greedy and malicious. It took her some time to see how she looked as well."
"So...why was this gym created? A smoke screen?"
"I wanted this gym to be a peaceful place for other hunters to train and also others to workout. We prefer to hide in sight." Carl nodded. He reached into his pocket before he pulled his phone. Guessing it was a notification, Bane stood from the chair. "We have to get back upstairs. I believe Renee is looking for you."
"Ah shit, Renee."
He opened the door for me.
"Question?" I turned to him. "The night after prom, if you knew he was a werewolf, why did you attempt to fight him?"
"Come on, I had to go down as the best Hunter for fighting a werewolf hand to hand." He shrugged.
"So you knew that kiss would set him off? Is that why you did it?" My eyebrow curved up. "Yeah I knew it would trigger him. And also I just really wanted to kiss you." He toyed which was followed with a playful wink. "Dumbass." I hollered over my shoulder as I walked ahead of him...
She was wearing almost nothing.
Her body flourishing beneath her bra and boy cut underwear as she stepped out of the bathroom. She tied up her hair before she added her favorite perfume to her inner wrist and neck. She snatched my attention; capturing my thoughts, distracting me from thinking about what had happened just earlier today.
"Hello." She snapped her fingers to awake me from my day dream. "You look beautiful." I exhaled. Her once questioning look quickly turned soft when I complimented to her.
"You tell me that alot when I'm half naked." She shrugged; turning away as she began to tend to her body, lotioning it with her favorite cream.
"I say it no matter what." My head tilted, watching as her lower half jiggled when she moved. "Even when you wake up looking crazy."
"Shut up." She chuckled.
Reaching onto the nightstand, she pulled her ring from the surface before she slipped it onto her hand. She looked at it; frozen in the moment as her eyes scanned over the diamond.
"What's wrong?" I questioned her. She shrugged.
