Still like him
BANE'S POV
I closed the door and walked to our room. Relax? That shouldn't have been my choice of word since I cant use it myself. THREE TO FOUR HUNDRED PEOPLE?! Not just people, wolves. All there to welcome ME, making me the center of attention. The human.
I flopped down in to my bed and stared up at the ceiling, thoughts of how things may go at this ceremony flooded my mind. Would they like me? Will they look at me differently since Im their human Luna?
I wanted to only think happy thoughts and be hopeful but my nervousness was pushing me toward doubts and concerns.
"Come in." I yelled at the sound of someone knocking on the door.
"Hey?" Renee walked in. "Is there anymore cheesesteaks?"
"No." I laughed. "Where is all the damn food going?"
"Dont know." He laughed.
He walked in and took a seat in one of the lounge chairs we had positioned across from our bed. He sunk into, relaxing before he spoke to me.
"Whats up?" He asked.
"Well, Renee told me its a ceremony coming up...in honor of me being Luna." I answered. "But....I dont know."
"But you're nervous of it."
"Maybe."
"Why? These people would probably worship you. You're their Luna."
"But I'm only human to them. Meat and weak flesh."
"Look. That does not mean much to them. I doubt they would look at you any differently then we do." He said.
"I dont know." Even with his attempts to ease me, doubts were still on my mind.
"Renee. If it really scares you, I will stand next to you as much as you like. You would probably look the perfect angel standing next to the filthy rouge."
I cracked a smile at his offer. I hated that he considered himself a rouge because I didn't. I considered him a part of this pack and so did the others, probably except Maya.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
He lowered his head a little as he began fiddling with his fingers.
"Now, whats wrong with you?" I asked, hoping to help him just as he helped me.
"Well, I have this....thing."
"Thing?"
"Well. This person."
"Go on." I eased in closer. "I..I sort of like this girl."
"Oooo did you ask her out?" I asked.
"No, I like her but Im not sure if she's interested in me the same way." He ran his fingers through his hair.
"What is your suggestion to what I should do?" "Just ask her. If you continue to wait around, you will never know. Then soon, it would probably be to late."
"Just ask her?" His annoyed tone made it seem as though my answer was stupid.
"Look, she could only say yes or no. Who knows, maybe she's feeling the same way but is only waiting on you."
He slowly nodded his head, letting my answer flow into his head. "Ill give it a try." He shot up. "Thanks."
"No problem." I smiled as he walked to the door.
"But really, theres no more cheesesteaks?" "NO." I laughed.
RENEE'S POV
After hearing the news about the welcoming ceremony his mother was throwing in my honor, it was the only thing that was on my mind.
I was on my way to see my mother at work today. Maybe having a mother and daughter lunch with my mom would clear my head.
I greeted the front office receptionist Lilian.
"Goodmorning."
"Ohh Hey Renee." She looked up with a delightful smile on her face. "How are you darling?"
"I'm great. Is my mother busy?" "Nope, just go right in." She smiled.
"Thanks Lillian."
"No problem."
I walked passed her desk and into my mom's office.
"Hey?"
Her eyes shot up at me and narrowed once she notice my unannounced entrance.
"Whats wrong, are you okay?" She looked a little worried, I guess its been a while since I've been here.
"Im fine."
I held up the plastic bag filled with small containers of various food items. Hey, I need options.
"Lunch?" I asked.
"Oh." she smiled as let out a breath of relaxation.
"Sure."
"Remember when we went to Sea world and I warned you not to sit in the front of the whale show?"
"Yeah." My mother frowned at my comment. "That damn whale helped create a bad hair day."
I sat on the window seal of my mom's office, enjoying the fried rice and chicken I picked up from the local food store as I laughed at my mother's unhappy look at the topics.
"Dad constantly reminded you that your hair was fine, even though you looked like a troll doll the entire day."
"Your father and his way of keeping the peace." She smirked.
I took in another fork full of rice, laughing and crying tears of joy at the thoughts of the past. Suddenly something caught my eye out the window.
I looked down from her fourth story office window, catching a faint glimpse of a man standing in the thick tree brush.
It was no coincidence if his appearance, nor was he just some wandering man. Out of all the windows associated with this building, he was looking directly at me without a doubt.
Was he from the pack?
No. I knew of the pack members who watched me when I was away from the pack house and the pack rarely ever made their appearance known, especially in human form.
"HEY?!" I turned and looked at my mother. "Whats your problem?"
I looked back out the window, completely bewildered by his sudden disappearance from the spot he once stood.
"Hello?"
"Huh? Yeah, Im good. Just..was looking at a..deer."
"Deer are not that fascinating hun." She toyed.
"Well this one was....weird."
"Mhm whatever." She cleaned off her desk and picked up her jacket. "Lets go mother nature, lets get going."
"Sure."
After a cool yet awkward lunch with my mother, we headed back home. I decided to pack up a few things and head back over to the pack house.
"Hey Renee, are you coming?" I yelled across the hall to Renee who decided to stay in today.
