Find her way out
RENEE'S POV
"Leave me alone", l screamed out as soon as the bodyguards held up my hands. Yes this time I screamed. I didn’t do anything wrong and he ordered the guards to take me.
"Take her to the cells", I heard Kade groan out again. "Fuck you son of a bitch", l shouted as the guards dragged me towards the hallways. Just like a criminal, they dragged me mercilessly then threw me into a dark room.
This time the cell was different not the one, I was in before.
It was a round room with chains hanging on the wall. With angry growls, they quickly chained my wrists . They walked out after and closed the door behind their backs. A few minutes went by before l heard keys turning into the lock. Shockingly that was accompanied by whines and cries from a girl on the other side .
The door flew open and someone threw a tiny figure in the room. She landed on the floor and l gasped in disbelief.
The girl whimpered as she pushed herself up on trembling arms. Even in the dim light, I could see bruises forming on her pale skin. Her dark hair was a tangled mess, and when she turned her head, I caught a glimpse of swollen, tear-filled eyes.
My heart clenched. Who was she? And why was she here?
She let out another soft cry, cradling her arm as she tried to sit up. "P-please..." she whispered, barely audible.
I struggled against my chains, fury burning inside me. "What the hell are you doing to her?" I shouted toward the door, but the guards were already gone. The lock clicked into place, sealing us both in.
The girl flinched at my voice, shrinking away as if expecting another blow. My anger softened. Whoever she was, she was terrified.
"Hey," I said, gentler this time. "I'm not going to hurt you."
She sniffled and slowly lifted her gaze to meet mine. There was something familiar about her—something that sent a chill down my spine.
"Who are you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Her lip trembled before she spoke.
"My name is Lilah," she said, her voice hoarse. "And I... I'm .... supposed to be a luna of Adamant pack, I ran away from the Alpha ... and Kade's men captured me as a rogue."
Her words sent a wave of shock through me. A Luna? A runaway Luna? That explained the bruises, the fear in her eyes. But why was she running? And why the hell would Kade care enough to lock her up?
I tugged at my restraints, frustration boiling in my veins. "Why did you run?" I asked, my voice softer now.
Lilah hesitated, biting her swollen lip as fresh tears welled in her eyes. "Because…" she whispered, her body trembling. "Because if I stayed, I would have died."
A cold shiver crawled up my spine.
"Did he hurt you?" I pressed.
She nodded, a choked sob escaping her lips. "He wanted an obedient Luna. One who wouldn't question him. One who wouldn't defy him. But I couldn't—I couldn't just stand there while I watch him kill....." She broke off, her breath hitching. "Kade's men found me before I could get far. They told me he might trade me back to my mate… or use me himself."
My stomach twisted in revulsion. Kade was always a bastard, but this? This was something else entirely.
"Don't worry I'm gonna get you out of this cell", I murmured.
"How ? I don't want to......"
Before she could complete the sentence, the door out of blue flew open and the warriors entered.
Before I could react, one of the warriors strode towards Lilah and grabbed her by the arm, yanking her to her feet. She let out a cry of pain, her already weak body unable to fight back.
"Let her go!" I shouted, my chains rattling as I jerked forward.
The warrior ignored me and started dragging her toward the door. Lilah struggled, but she was no match for his strength.
"Please!" she sobbed, kicking and thrashing, but he only tightened his grip.
"Where are you taking her?" I demanded, my heart pounding.
The warrior stopped at the doorway and turned to me with a twisted grin. "To your mate."
Panic surged through me. "No! You can't!"
But they didn’t listen.
The door slammed shut, leaving me alone in the dark.
I stayed lost in my thoughts for some pretty good time not until when I heard the door being opened.
The warrior were back.
"Where did you take her you bastards?', I snapped immediately.
"Language", One of them replied in a harsh voice. "Have you heard what he said", When l continued to glare at the bastard , one of guards made his way to us.
When he leaned down to my level , l punched him with all my strength on his nose. He fell back from the impact , holding onto his nose and staring at me in disbelief , alarmed and maybe shocked. He didn't see that coming . My knuckles were burning from the impact . I felt like l broke my own hand. I have taken a pretty good time without punching anyone.
The other warriors stood in stunned silence for a moment, and then the one I hit let out a furious snarl. His hand was still clutching his bleeding nose, his eyes dark with rage.
"You little bitch," he spat, wiping at the blood dripping down his face.
I smirked, despite the throbbing in my knuckles. "Didn't see that coming, did you?"
His eyes flickered with pure anger before he lunged at me. I braced myself, but I was still chained, unable to defend myself properly. He grabbed my jaw, squeezing hard enough to make my bones ache.
"You think you're tough?" he growled, his breath hot against my face. "Let's see how tough you are when Alpha Kade is done with you."
I didn't flinch. I met his gaze with defiance, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me scared.
