Just a mistress
BANE'S POV
My footsteps are near silent as I stride through the corridor.
"Where do you think you're going?"
I halted, grimacing before turning. My father emerged from his office, dark brows raised expectantly.
"Nowhere, I was coming to speak to you," I lied. I had done such a good job avoiding him ever since I disappeared from the ceremony then went to look for Renee.
"This Pack needs a Luna. Other Packs are sensing weakness here," He spoke his , worry burying between his furrowed brows.
I rubbed a hand over my eyes, sighing.
"I'm already going to marry Carlo, she will be the luna", I retorted.
"I want you to announce Renee as your mistress or else you will never see her breath again", His words shocked me.
"What do you mean? Where did this come from?", I asked.
"I'm too old to be fooled, she is your mate but you will never have rule with you. I want Carlo to be the luna", He spoke angrily then walked away.
I shook my head in disbelief. He didn't know how badly I hated Renee. I didn't even want her as my mistress.
RENEE'S POV
I was pacing back and fort inside Bane's office, nervousness overcoming me. Albert sneaked me here but I didn't even bother reading through the documents that were on Bane's table. Something seemed fishy but I had nothing to do. I haven't seen my parents ever since I tried escaping.
Albert made sure that I didn't meet any but guess what it was all nothing because I soon going to be presented in front of the pack in a few hours.
I kept on pacing around the door opened abruptly and I turned my head towards it. Bane and Albert left me here a few minutes, having to deal with a sudden situation, but with a promise that they were going to come back soon enough.
Expecting my mate or the Beta, my heart dropped when I see a familiar face. It was the bitch Carlo.
Her smile dropped as she looked around, probably looking for Bane or Albert or anybody else she knew. When she found nobody, her stance lowered in hostility, ready to attack.
"Who are you and how did you get in here?!" she demanded, pretending like she didn't know, like we have never met earlier. My wolf felt angry immediately and tried to surface, she was slowly learning that she was soon to be declared as the Luna. Having this bitch go against the Luna, an utter disrespect and my wolf had only want to put her in her place.
Thankfully, I managed to suppress her, but not before my wolf let out a dangerous growl. I tried to fake a smile although my wolf was itching to show her who the real Luna is. I breathed in and out deeply and motioned her towards the sofas.
She watched me carefully, sizing me up, trying to see if I was playing any trick to distract her and then attack her. "I really don't want any fight or...." I started, trying to put a smile although malicious thoughts were starting to make their way inside my head. "I'm here for my luna position"
"You're lying. Bane didn't bring you here. Didn’t he read the rules." she bit back, confident in her answer. The way she said Bane's name sent a nerve of pain to me. It rolled off so natural from her tongue, making me wonder how close they were. Because Bane showed that he didn’t like her.
'How dare she look that way towards us!' my wolf complained inside my head, still ready for a battle. She beared up with her last time but this time it was so angry.
I bit my lip and looked down, not sure how to answer her. I hope lan and Alebrrt comes now, I don't exactly know how to defend myself right now. I didn't want to fight with his bitch right now.
She wanted to provoke me again. She was still in her offensive stance and she was ready to attack me, but I just nodded towards her. "I really don't waste my precious energy on ...--" she cut me off me when she sprinted towards me till the next thing that I knew was that her claws were pointed to my neck.
Oddly enough, I didn't feel scared. Although my wolf's desire to fight her just worsened, I was still.. calm.
Somehow, deep inside me, I knew that whatever hurt she was to do or wanted to do would never work against me. Somehow, I felt that I was more powerful than her. If she did me ill, I could return it to her just as much.
Where I'm pulling this confidence from, I don't know, but I liked it.
"How dare you talk to me like that ! Don't you know who the hell you're. If you're not careful with that tongue of yours, I'll be happy to cut it for you. I will beat you more than the way the guards did"
Wow.
I smiled at her. Now that she was closer to me, I took my time to observe her. She didn't only have her bad strawberry hair but she also had the audacity. She was so proud of herself.
"I guess we weren't meant to get along, but I want peace right now", I said lightly and as soon as I said that, familiar scents were coming nearer and fast.
It was Bane and Albert. Soon enough, the two were by the door, catching the scene of Carlo's claws close to my throat. Alebert was quick to pull Carlo's hand while Bane came by me, standing in front of me in act of defense against his future luna.
Carlo's eyes widened in shock as her eyes looked towards Albert and Bane accusingly. She must have felt that it was unfair that Albert and Bane were defending me against her.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Carlo." Albert said dangerously behind her. She turned quickly towards him.
