Breaking her trust again

BANE'S POV

I was all too eager to take my mate up to our bedroom and relax after such an exhausting trip. Well, relaxing was not really my goal. Maybe after. Everyone entered and disappeared off to settle in.

I followed my mate up to our room, my eyes drawn onto her wide bust and firm hips. Then it hit me. That smell. A toxic stench of an unwelcome intruder. I grabbed my mate. She looked at me. I shoved her behind me to protect her.

"Bane?" Renee walked out of the kitchen. "Take her and Renee to my room." I ordered.
"Whats wrong?" Renee questioned.

Un willing to answer anymore questions, I allowed Keira to guide her up to my room where I know its safe for her.
Bane, Aaron, Zeiden- We are close. I could sense them not to far from here.

I was never fond of intruders on my land but in my home? That was just a fucking disaster waiting to happen. Where the fuck is it? I reached into the link. Office Alpha. Someone responded.

I ran up the stairs, down the hall and into my office room. Pack members, maybe ten to twelve of them stood guard. To reduce the crowd, I dismissed eight of them and replaced the numbers with my Beta, Bane and Zeiden.

I sat down. My eyes focused on the intruder who sat across from me but my attention focused on the safety of my mate. "I mean no harm." A small voice spoke. "What the fuck do you want? A death wish?"

"No." She showed no real fear of me. Just respect.
She was small in height. Dark curly hair that stopped just below her shoulders. Her eyes were of a different shade of color, implying that she was new to her world.

She looked as if I saw her before. Why? "Why are you here?" I questioned.
"To deliver a message." "Well, deliver it."

She opened her mouth to speak. Her teeth. I hated them. A vampire's defense and weapon. A weapon used to poison the world. God I hate her stench. Wretched dead odor. Her skin. So colorless and pale but she desperately tried to hide it under her dark attire.

She must have noticed my attention somewhere else so she stopped talking and stared at me.
"Alpha?" "Go on." I ordered.
"My leader has ordered me to come to you. He has been watching."
"Watching who?!"
"Everyone." She admitted. "He thinks you and your family are in danger."

"Danger?" "Yes." "And who thinks this? Who sent you?"
Hesitant at first to answer my question, she finally answered.

"My convent leader."
"Well tell your convent leader I do not need his help."
"But-" "I SAID NO." I roared, forcing everyone to step back slightly in fear. Hesitant at first to speak, she finally responded. "As you wish Alpha. I will deliver this message to my leader."

"Good."
Sensing my anger and carelessness, the woman stood to her feet and asked to be dismissed freely. I signaled Bane and Zeiden to escort the woman out of my home and off of my territory immediately.

Once gone, I signaled the rest to leave me and gave orders to increase patrol on the grounds for the remainder of the night. I did not take kindly to them watching me, my pack, especially not my mate.

I sat back to think, occasionally linking Bane and Renee to make sure there were no problems on the way. However I could not shake her unexpected presence nor warning.

Night was falling fast and the last thing I wanted to do was spend my time escorting a vampire off of the territory through the cavernous woods. I just wanted to get back to the house and relax, hoping to put these past few nights events behind me.

"You gentleman have a lovely land." The vampire turned her head slightly toward me and smiled, exposing her fangs.
Uninterested in conversation, I ignored her compliment and her. "Well thank you." Renee responded jokingly.

"Shut it Renee."
"What?" He laughed. "For a vampire, she has some manners."
"Whatever." I commented. "You know boys, l'am a vampire, not necessarily a monster nor am I ignorant."

"See?" Renee agreed with her. "What do you call sucking the blood from humans, sometimes for sport?" I commented.
"I call those monsters. However, my convent oppose those sort of things. We do not agree with taking the life for game."

"What about taking the life to feed yourself?" I shot.
"Yes, it is necessary for us to feed. Do we take the life of someone? Of course not. We feed, we wipe the memory, and send the person on their way."

"Its still sick." I growled out. "Feel as you wish hun." I could hear the smile and amusement in her little voice. "How old are you?" Renee interrupted with an unnecessary question. "It is not polite to ask a woman her age." She smirked.

"Yeah I know about that but I mean, you dont age so how old are you now?" "Lets leave that a mystery."
"Fine." Renee responded before reaching me through the link. Maybe early or late thirties? She is still hot though.

Thats disgusting. I responded before immediately shutting him out. "Okay boys, do we part from here?" She turned. Her red eyes searched us. We had reached the boarder of our territory and it was time to let her go.

"Yup." Renee continued, feeling the urge to socialize here. "So when did you become a vampire?"

"So full of questions." She found his questionnaire amusing. I found it highly annoying. "Damn lady, tell me something here." He laughed. "I can leave you boys a few words. Something....helpful."
"No thanks." I shot.

"Alright." Damn!
"Okay. Renee." She thought for a moment. "Let today be the day you finally release yourself from the imprisonment of past anger and grudges." "What?" Renee responded. I laughed.

"And you." Here we go. "Never let fear stop you. You are afraid to love, because you are afraid that one day, you will lose that love. "
Her words? Helpful? Not really. More like some hocus pocus bulshit if you ask me.
"Okay bye." I turned to leave. "Okay so what do you mean by-"

"RENEE!"
"Alright." Bane growled. He turned back to say his goodbye maybe but just like that, the woman was gone.

"Bane, you a fucking prick, I didn't get my question out."

"It was stupid." I turned away and continued on through the thick trees that would lead us back home. "Dont get mad at me because her words of wisdom were accurate for you." "They weren't words of wisdom and they were not accurate." I responded.

"Never let fear stop you. You are afraid to love, because you are afraid that one day, you will lose that love. Mmm such wisdom. Would you like for me to clarify the meaning?" Bane continued to nag on.

"Would you like for me to punch the shit out of you?"
"It simply means you are afraid to love because you are afraid something would make you lose that love. Which would hurt you so painfully. Such words. Dont you think so?"

"Nope." I walked ahead, almost seconds away from shifting and leaving him behind to converse with hisself.
"Im not sure what is freakier though. The accuracy of her words or the fact that she knew you had a love."
"I DONT-" I had to calm down. "I dont love anyone."

"Fine." He sighed. "She wouldn't go for you anyway."
Jason was trying to make me angry. Unaffected by his diss, I continued on, struggling to ignore him.
"I mean she is hot and probably find you weird." He toyed. "I have to admit. The girl has a nice body. And her ass-"

I listened to the tree bark crack slightly under his back as I slammed him into it. I was out of my own control at the moment. I hated how the anger pumped through my veins the more he talked about her as if he was interested in her. Just the sick thought of him looking at her had my blood boiling.

Why was I letting him break me?

As he wished, I cracked. Just as he wanted, I showed some sort of emotion for the girl. Damn I wish I didn't. He is going to hold this against me as long as he could. Or at least until I admit it.

"Damn bro." He toyed. "So much anger for some girl you dont like."

Annoyed, frustrated, and agitated, I shifted into my wolf and took off running toward home. I had to get away from him. I just couldn't kill my best friend right now.
