No longer shift
RENEE'S POV
"That won't be possible. You heard the mighty man-l cannot let you out of my sight. Don't make this hard for me, girl." She snapped, giving her head a shake before her eyes clicked onto the sofa beside her. "Sit down."
My hands fell to my sides as I sat down and folded my leg over the other one. Everything in my body ached. I was in dire need to rest but I wasn't sure if this was the place.
At least it was away from the Alpha and his men.
The woman slipped her hand under her cheek and asked, "You don't have a scent. Why is that?"
"I haven't shifted-yet." I replied, fiddling with the hem of my jacket.
A smile spread over her face, "Ah, a runt."
"No, I'm not a runt. I just haven't shifted since I was captured", I corrected her.
"How did you manage to escape from our Alpha? I heard you were captured again when you were trying to escape again," The woman asked out of curiosity. "By the way when you escaped from your pack , whatever it is, why did you come here?", She asked again. She wss kinda talkative.
I swallowed hard while trying to come up with words to explain what happened, "I lost my way. I didn't know I was going to be here," My voice broke a little. I leaned forward and clasped my hands together. "Please, let me leave. You don't have to tell anyone and I promise, I won't come back. I'll go far away from here-"
Before I could finish, she began laughing and shaking her head, "Oh, darling. It isn't that easy. If the Alpha hadn't seen you or if the circumstances were any different, I would've let you go. But he has, and he isn't a merciful man. Be thankful you're still alive."
I sucked in a deep breath, understanding there was no one here who could help me to leave. That poor man died because of me.
She stood up from her seat and walked over to my direction, "Come. Your room and clothes should be arranged by now." Her hand wrapped around my arm and she forced me up.
I walked behind her and we went up the stairs. What was it with the people here? They were all heartless and cruel-or was it me? Being a rogue in this pack was humiliating and degrading. It was hard to ever find someone who couldn't be rude.
The woman knocked on a door and waited for a moment before one of the girl's from downstairs opened the door. The girl was now only wear a night dress, her breasts exposed as a smile hung over her face.
"I've got the bed ready for her," She said, excitement in her tone. "And Ruth is drawing out some clothes. We'll make sure she showers before she rests or touches anything."
"Good," The woman responded before glancing at me and directing me to head inside. "Don't run. It's my first and last warning. I shouldn't see you outside the house. It's just a few hours and then your fate is in someone else's hand."
I swallowed hard and nodded, "Yes."

I ran the ends of the hair brush against my hair and untangled any knots that had been formed. They were many. It took me a long while before my hair was finally straight and clean. There was one issue of having thick hair-it could never be tamed.
The whole morning I spent at the edge of my bed. Sleep didn't cross my mind, not even for a moment. By late afternoon, everyone was awake in the house and they were plenty of girls who began preparing for the night.
"After every battle is won, they come to us for pleasure and we take off their minds for one night. It's how it works over here," One of the girls who had been quite chatty with me said. Her name was along the line of something Angel, but I knew it couldn't be her real name. "We take whoever we want and sometimes, they choose the girls they want. Those who have girlfriends or wives tend to stay away from here on these nights."
I listened to her and became surprised. It was a sort of a whorehouse and the Madam was in the control of all these ladies. It was a lot different than I had imagined, but there were some similarities.
Since their party hadn't started yet, there weren't any men in the house, only women, and most of them half naked wandering around the hall and down the stairs. I stayed in my room, hoping to stay awake for as long as I could.
Anything could happen if I slept.
I didn't want to be in a vulnerable situation again, not after the whole car ride I had to survive just because I slept.
"I heard some of the rumors..." I trailed off.
She giggled and shook her head before applying some stain onto her cheeks and looking at me through the reflection. "Most of the rumors are just plain lies. We do this to serve our Alpha and our pack. Most of us come from terrible situations and this is the only place we find our comfort." Angel continued, explaining to me in a way I actually understood.
"What about the other women?" I asked as my legs dangled from the bed while my hands were spread over the mattress.
"They are many. The ones who find their mates end up with them, carrying pups and getting bred day and night while others remain under their family's protection. Though, none of the women are trained or involved in pack matters. It's a responsibility our men take."
From the rumors I heard, I expected for Silvertails women to be all dead or murdered. It was true, none of them were ever heard of. Even their existence was far away from our knowledge which lead to wild rumors.
Angel slipped away from her chair and sat down on the bed beside me. Leaning against the headboard, she placed the hand mirror in front of her and began to apply mascara to her lashes.
"Tell me something about yourself," She stopped and let the wand brush through her lashes. "How come you come you haven't shifted since you were captured?"
