Mentally sick

RENEE'S POV
"This is good stuff," I whispered while bringing the glass of wine against my lips and taking a quick sip of it. The last time I had drank anything was a couple months ago, when I was in a bar, bored of killing people in the Cade's pack. That drink was merely out of boredom and nothing more.

This one was a reward.

"Do you want some?" I offered to Leander as he leaned over the counter, his one hand resting underneath his body while the other one was under his chin. He gawked at me as if I was drinking someone's blood and not wine.

"Sydney is downstairs..." He trailed off, reminding me.

I rolled my eyes and groaned, "So what?" The words continued to hover me in the silence. I turned to face him and continued, "I'm not going to bother with her but once I go there don't expect me to have any sympathy for her."

"I'm not even expecting." He shook his head and then took the other glass of wine from the table.

We stared at each other for a second before clinking our drinks together and cheering. With every sip I took, I kept my eyes on Bane and how he had been startled with this all. He hadn't expected for Sydney to be caught. But, I knew Sydney. She was going to come for me and she did.

Just at the perfect time.
The sky was dark, the night had fallen and the moon was at its peak. The weather became foggy and cold but to our luck, we returned home long before we were going to get caught in traffic down the main highway.

Sydney was sleep asleep, drugged to sleep. We used a couple doses on her, ensuring she wouldn't wake up until a while. She remained underground, in the basement. While the warriors carried her in, I took a glance of the basement and it hadn't changed. It was the same basement from the pack house, the same grounds.

"Why didn't you change the basement?" I asked Bane as the questioned scurried in my head.

He shrugged, "I didn't want to. Too many memories..."

"Of you killing people?" I cocked a brow at him. This was slowly taking a dark turn. "Is that where you keep your preys? Or your blood bags?"

Leander paused and snapped his head at me, "Who told you that?" He questioned, a serious look gathering over his face.

"Huh," I took a sip of the wine, ignoring the question and not wanting to drag Gwen's name into this. "I guess I just took a guess."

"Hycinth..." He called out my name and it came perfectly out of his mouth. His voice forced me to turn my head around and meet with his gaze.

"Yes?"

"Gwen told you, didn't she?" He asked.
I sank back into the seat and nodded, "Yes. But please, don't kill her. I asked her to tell me. I wanted to know about it-about your lifestyle."

"You could've asked me."

"I was-I wasn't sure." I said softly. There were quite a few things I was no longer sure about. It still terrified me to the core and the entire monster thing was still threatening and new to me. I didn't know how to understand Leander or even if I could but I was giving it a chance.

I couldn't let myself judge him the way he was once.

People changed.

So did he.

I set the wine glass on the table and stood up from the long seat. Falling on my toes, I straightened my shirt and my pants before clearing my throat and announcing what I intended on doing. "I'm going downstairs-to check on her and she if she is awake. If she is, I'll question her and if she's not, I'll come back."

"Do you want me to come with you?" Leander offered.

"No," I quickly said and then thought of a better response. "I just want to see her and question her myself. You can do it anytime later." I added before taking a step down and farther away from the kitchen.

"Okay..." Bane trailed off before returning his attention back to his glass of wine. He sat inside the kitchen, drinking wine while I left to go downstairs, into the dark basement of the house, one I had been a few times.

Basements reminded of the way Bane killed my father and the way he was so ruthless at that time.
Though, now, after all the understanding, I doubted he would ever even think about killing me or any of my family member.

Smiling, I opened the door and took the stairs down.

It was chilling cold underground and there was no warmth or heater anywhere. The basement was fairly large, built decades ago by stones and cobblestones. It extended for miles, for as long as the pack house was once.

There were separate room in the basement, some for prisoners and some for refugees. The warriors had taken Sydney to the first room in the basement, the only room where the light was switched on as it dangled from the roof.

I stepped into her room while following the voice of the water dripping from the tap after every minute.

Upon entering, I found Sydney wide awake, cornered to the middle of the room. She had been restrained with metal cuffs that were attached to the wall. As she saw me, she rose her head and her eyes were dead-shot red. Anger was spread all over her face. I could feel the heat and the fury radiating off her.

"Good morning." I said, stepping in. "Did you have a good sleep?" I asked while standing a bit far away from her. Her restraints were loose enough to allow her to wander around the room but she couldn't leave, not without tearing her limbs.

"What have you done, luna Renee?" She twisted her head and asked.

"Simply-the same thing you did. What did you think? That I will forgive you?" I leaned over her and asked about her thoughts. "I despise you, Sydney. You ruined my life. I have no sympathy for you."

"I haven't done anything, Renee!" She exclaimed, her eyes bulging in anger as she tried to prove a point. "I had done nothing. I was saving you from Leander. I was protecting you. Leander didn't want you so I didn't you to pass through hell with a bastard child",

I shook my head after listening to her. Sydney wasn't mentally fine.

"You poisoned my mate." I spoke calmly changing the subject.

"I only did that after you left. You were heartbroken and it was because of him. You lost your child because of him! If he loved you , I wouldn't have led to it's death",
All her words proved that she was a mentally sick patient.

"I didn't want Hycinth to kill it , I swear." She shook her head. "You're delusional, why did you even come back to him. Do you still love him after all he did to you since you were young?"

"Let me be back", I lost words to say and turned on my heels to leave.
"Be thankful, Renee! I saved you. You can go find someone else now." She screamed behind me as I went to the door.

"Thank you!" I retorted.

"I saved it now untie me" She spoke but I ignored her.
"I SAVED YOU", She shouted like a maniac.
