Mark her
RENEE'S POV
"Alot?" He questioned as my eyes wondered around the room. "Some what." I toyed.
"I know you will not remember a lot of the Alpha's and Luna's here at this moment, nor will I expect you to."
"So many names that I could barely remember my own." We shared a laugh as I blocked out the staring crowd around us.
"It happens." He smiled.
"Can I ask you something? Bane, he seemed a little defensive when you greeted Amira. Why?" I whispered.
"Well, as any Alpha, our jealousy can be-" "Fucking crazy?" I whispered.
"If thats how you want to put it." He laughed. "But for Bane to be put into a large room with a bunch of werewolves with his unmarked woman, everyone could easily be seen as a threat."
"Oh. Even if you're mated already?" "No one is NOT a threat until she is marked for him."
"Why not mark her then?" I asked. He spun me around before he pulled me into him again.
"You are asking the wrong one." He laughed.
We danced together for a few more moments before other people decided to join us on the dance floor however I was too focused on the man that held and looked at me as if I was the only one in the room.
Did I miss some royalty thing here?
Yes, of course I knew this was Renees's first time meeting Bane's family but this was more then a meet and greet. It was more like a presidential inauguration.
"Renee can you explain what the hell is going on?" I whispered over to her.
"A party." "I know its a party but jesus, this is crazy."
"Yeah it seems that way but this family does it big."
"I see."
I began to feel as though I was lost in a sea of unknown creatures of some sort. I felt out of place, unaware, and foreign to this entire situation. Everyone socialized, reminiscing about their connective past and how they knew of each other.
"Renee?" I asked. She seemed a little lost as she gazed into crowd of people.
"Yes?" She turned her attention to me.
"Did the 'royal family' allow liquor in this function?" I needed something to help me mentally disappear from the festivities.
She gasped and placed her hand over her heart in shock. "Of course not." She shook her head at me in disappointment.
"Really?"
"No, Im kidding, the punch bowl is spiked." "Oh thank god." I released a sigh of relief. "You want a drink?"
"No, not yet." She looked away. "I need to be on full alert tonight."
"Okay." Her behavior seemed strange tonight but maybe she is just as lost as me maybe? Who knows.
I walked through the crowd of unfamiliar faces and made my way to the refreshment table. I picked up a glass and tucked my clutch under my arm and reached for the punch bowl ladle.
"Let me get that." A hand grabbed the ladle before I had a chance to. He shot me a cute winning smile as he poured the liquid into my cup.
"Thanks."
"No problem." He was not afraid to look at me. He seemed distracted by me. "May I ask, what is your name?"
"Um Jess."
"Bane." He took my free hand and placed a soft kiss on to the back of it.
"Nice to meet you." I took a few huge gulps of my drink before I looked at the floor.
Calling the punch spiked was a damn understatement. It tasted like one hundred proof liquor. Well Im going to be feeling this sooner then I hoped for.
I realized he was still smiling at me so I smiled back innocently. Even when I tried to look away, I could still feel his eyes burning into me.
"You seem a little distracted." "Nope." I poured me another drink. Drink then disappear to your room. Thats my short term goal here.
"Am I bothering you?" He asked casually. Pearly white teeth, finely dressed, scruffy beard, dark black hair with a little streak of white that seemed tussled around. He's not a bother, he is a damn sexual demon I would say.
Men like him will blind you with good looks and charm and send you down a road of despair and damage.
"Not at all." I answered politely.
"Have you ever been to one of these functions or-" he stopped talking and looked away. He seemed to be lost in space until he suddenly focused back on me. "Oh."
"Oh?" I asked bewildered.
"Um would you like to dance?" "Um Im not really a dancer." I explained.
"Come on. I will lead." He smiled then winked at me. "I wont bite.....hard." Demon in a cute male form. I poured me another drink and drunk it until my glass was clean.
"Okay."
He took my hand and guided me over to the dance floor. I felt a little tense when his hands touched my waist but I followed his guide as he wished and placed my hand on to his shoulders.
As he promised, he took the lead as I followed. I looked around at the other people dancing all around us. Everyone seemed so relaxed and calm but I probably looked like I had a stick shoved up my ass.
"Relax." He whispered.
I soaked in his words and struggled to ease into him and the music. As much as I had tried relax, I just could not shake this weird, uneasy feeling brewing in my blood.
"Come on, relax." His voice seemed a little unfriendly now. It seemed darker, suspicious I would say. "I told you I wont bite hard." His hands slid down my waist and palmed my butt through the material of my fitting dress.
"What the hell?" I pushed out of his hold but he immediately tugged me back into him with force.
That cute little sweet charm I witnessed over by the refreshment table was completely dead to me now. Now he seemed like the man, the monster I desperately tried to avoid all of my life.
A damn snake.
He sent me a devilish smirk before he gripped my ass again, squeezing it until I squealed in discomfort.
