Want to use her for revenge
RENEE'S POV
The voices died down as soon as I was in the room where I had spent most of my day in. Some of the lights came switched on. I held my breath back while turning around to meet the Alpha's penetrating gaze. Blood rushed to my cheeks.
"You'll be staying here till I have other arrangements in place." He said a moment later, not even mentioning why he was still keeping me alive.
"What are you going to do with me?" I asked.
His eyes clicked away from mine, "I've to think about that. In the meantime, don't cause any disturbances here. And don't run-I'll catch you every time." In the end, a small grin lightened his face.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead." He waited.
"Are you still keeping me alive because you know me?, do you want to use me as revenge to one of the Alphas" I asked and then eagerly waited for his response. "You know my real names, right?."
His mouth lined straight before he turned and reached for the door without answering my questions. I waited, but he walked out of the room leaving me to wonder-
How emotionless could one be?
As he left, I sat back down on the bed while putting my hair into a ponytail. My head, tired and exhausted, began to ache from the lack of sleep. I laid down and pulled the sheets over me before getting lost in my thoughts. For the next several minutes, I tried to make sense of what was happening.
What was wrong with the Alpha? He had forced me to shoot at him and in return, he spared my life-for now. Why? What did he want to see? Maybe whether I was courageous enough to shoot him or not. No. There was something else, something more.
"Ah, you're back!" Angel screamed while entering the room. "I thought you'd be gone forever and I'd never get to see you again." She rushed by my side and I sat up straight.
A smile fell over my face, "I guess not." I mumbled.
"Where did you go?" She asked, sounding a bit too intrigued. "Surprised you even returned. No one ever comes back when they leave here. You were gone for a while. Where did the Alpha take you?"
I cleared my throat and responded, "Nowhere."
I couldn't tell her I was taken to a graveyard and forced to stand an inch away from where I was going to be buried if I didn't show the Alpha I could shoot him with a wooden bullet. It was going to sound a bit too wild.
"Ah. Do you know if you're going stay here for long?"
"I think so," I shrugged, still not knowing what was going to happen tomorrow morning. "Maybe some more days..."
"That's great! Well, you should get some rest and I'll see you later in the morning." She gave me a cheeky smile before lifting herself off my bed and wandering back outside.
....
I woke up in the middle of the night when it was all silent and dead inside the house. Glancing to my right, I found Angel snoring under the sheets and another girl sleeping right next to her.
My headache was nearly gone and for a moment, I felt safe till I shifted around and slipped my hands underneath my ears, hoping to stay asleep for longer. But my eyes clicked wide open when I felt my wrists bare.
The bracelet.
It was gone.
I sat up straight while my hands spread under the pillows and all over the bed while I silently prayed to myself I hadn't lost it. But I had. It was gone.
Fuck.
I groaned and slapped my hand over my head whilst getting off the bed and on my feet. I remembered feeling it the whole day yesterday but after I returned from the graveyard, I didn't recall seeing it on my hand.
I must've dropped it there while-all that was happening.
"No, no..." My hands went underneath the sheets, fingers searching every inch of the bed as my heart began to pound hard against my chest. The bracelet was the last thing I wanted to lose. And I had. Again.
I tossed the pillows down to the ground and when there was no avail, I stood up straight with one hand over my hip and the other one against my head. What was I going to do? Looking over at Angel, I found her asleep and it was still late to run.
But the perfect time. No one would know.
I could go to the graveyard and come back before the sun would rise. It was a dangerous idea, but the only one that crossed my mind.
It got quiet in my mind as I looked into the closet to find a coat or jacket for myself. Most of the clothes inside Angel's closet were either lingeries or night wear, but to the end, I found a long black coat. Before any more time passed, I buttoned it up and tied my shoes before heading out of the room quietly.
I took every step with caution while looking left and right at the same time. There was no one awake. No one. All the girls were sleeping. When I reached downstairs, I looked if the Madame was awake, and to my luck, she wasn't. The house still reeked of alcohol and sex.
When I stepped out, cold wind brushed over me and I shivered while wrapping my arms around myself and realizing I didn't even know where to look.
While biting the inside of my cheek, I tried hard to remember the route to the graveyard. It was a long one and without a car, it was going to be even more longer.
Crap.
"Steady breaths, Renee, I know you can do it",. I told myself while heading outside and further away from the whorehouse.
This was totally wrong, I knew it.
