My Family

**Sarah**

The trip to Seattle is exhausting, despite the comfort of Kael's private jet. However, upon arriving at the mansion, everything becomes more comfortable and easier. Kael has hired a team of professionals to closely monitor my recovery process.

Ryan and I had a long conversation. Despite the difficulties after everything that happened, he is still my brother, and we have a lot in common. With Maira, the connection was immediate, and I became fond of her, as well as of our other brother, even before knowing about our blood ties.

Mary is a lovely person, and her presence has been crucial in my adjustment. Sharing the same roof with her strengthens our bond, and her help is valuable in all aspects of my daily life.

Rachel, on the other hand, remained absent, not giving news or showing interest in visiting me. I feel like everyone avoids mentioning her name, including Maira, who is known for her kindness and gentleness.

Hillary is always calling me, and we talk about various topics. Her friendship is comforting. However, she and Lorenzo still haven't been able to truly reconcile, and that saddens me a little.

"Maybe you're the one he truly loves, Hillary," I comment, trying to maintain an objective perspective. "He gave up on Rachel and me too quickly. Do you agree?"

Hillary expresses sadness about her relationship with Lorenzo still being so complicated. He keeps insisting that he doesn't want to lose her friendship, which makes her very unhappy.

"Maybe I shouldn't have more expectations," she says with regret. "Forget the night we had and accept the friendship he values so much."

"Or distancing yourself might be wiser," I suggest, trying to be sensible.

"Yes, you're right."

The subject was always the same, and I felt good about being a supportive friend to someone.

Enrico continues to call me every day, and his constant presence in my life brings me comfort. A week after my arrival, he shows up at Kael's house for a visit, which fills me with joy.

"I can't believe you're here just to see me!" I exclaim as soon as I find him in the living room, next to the fireplace, looking at some photos in beautiful frames.

Enrico apologizes, explaining why he didn't come earlier.

"Don't worry. I understand your schedule is busy," I try to reassure him, smiling sincerely. "I know very well how many commitments you have."

With the help of Kael, Maira, and Mary, the environment has been adapted for my wheelchair, allowing me to be comfortably close to everyone.

"I see you're well adapted to the wheelchair," Enrico comments, genuinely pleased to see me doing well, and he approaches, sitting in the armchair next to me. "I confess I underestimated your wheelchair-driving skills."

I can't help but laugh, and we both share a moment of relaxation.

"Looks like we have a visitor," Kael's authoritative and clearly displeased voice surprises us.

I look at him with irritation, making it clear that I didn't like the way he expressed himself.

"If you prefer that I receive my guests elsewhere, I can go out with Enrico," I say challengingly. "I'm sure he can take me for a ride."

The surprise on Kael's face almost makes me laugh, if I weren't so upset.

"That won't be necessary. Your friends are welcome to visit you whenever they want," Kael quickly tries to correct his arrogant attitude. "I apologize for the way I expressed myself, Bianchi."

"Don't worry about it," Enrico responds, trying to calm the situation.

Despite the heavy atmosphere not having completely dissipated, the tension had considerably diminished, and I admire the way Kael didn't hesitate to apologize for his previous behavior.

"I'll leave you two alone," he announces, even though it's clear he doesn't really want to. "If you need anything, just call."

Kael lightly touches my lips with a gentle kiss and exits the room, and I feel my heart racing with that simple gesture.

"You're shaking your leg," Enrico observes, with a playful smile.

"What?" I was still distracted, thinking about Kael's kiss.

"Your legs... you're moving them back and forth."

Only now do I realize what he means, and a wave of happiness washes over me. It's a simple gesture but represents a significant milestone in my recovery journey.

"I'm glad you followed your heart, Sarah, and didn't let others influence you. I also see that you don't allow Graham's arrogance to dominate you."

"I'm happy, even in a wheelchair, Enrico," I confess.

"That's what truly matters."

We continue talking for a while, and after Enrico leaves, I feel a wave of gratitude for the support I've received from everyone around me.

I'm still processing Enrico's words and our encounter when the door opens again, revealing Mary's welcoming figure. She enters with a gentle smile, and I immediately feel at ease in her presence.

"How are you feeling, dear?" Mary asks with a soft voice, concerned about my well-being.

"I'm adjusting, Mary. Every day is a new challenge, but I'm making progress," I reply with a grateful smile.

She sits in a nearby armchair, crossing her legs gracefully, and looks at me with a loving gaze.

"I'm so happy to have you here with us, Sarah. I want you to know that we're all here to support you in your recovery."

I feel the warmth of her words, and the sincerity of her emotions deeply touches me.

"Thank you, Mary. Your words mean a lot to me."

She reaches out and gently holds my hand, conveying comfort and solidarity.

"I want you to know that, in addition to Kael, Maira and I are here for you too. Kael may seem tough at times, but it's because he cares deeply for the people he loves. And ever since you entered his life, I've seen a special spark in his eyes, something I haven't seen in a long time."

Her eyes reflect tenderness as she talks about her own son.

"Sarah, you've brought a new light into Kael's life, and I can only thank you for that. He deserves to be happy, and I'm glad to see that you're the reason for it."

An emotion floods my heart as I listen to Mary's sincere words. She's sharing with me a side of Kael that I may not have fully realized, and it makes me appreciate him even more.

"Kael has been an incredible support for me, and that's all that matters now."

She smiles, understanding.

"Yes, dear. What's important is how you both are dealing with the issues of the past and how the bond between you is growing stronger every day. I'm sure you two are on the right path."

Her eyes shine with confidence and affection.

"Thank you, Mary, for everything."

She gently squeezes my hand.

"We're here for you, Sarah. And know that this house is your home now. Whenever you need, we'll be here to help and support you."

As she gets up to leave, a feeling of belonging and gratitude fills my heart. I may not have the same mobility as before, but I've found something even more precious: a family that welcomes me with open arms and a love that strengthens me every day.

I push the wheelchair to the elevator and, in a matter of minutes, I'm entering Kael's room.
