Unexpected Visit
**Kael**
I should have been reviewing financial reports and preparing for a meeting with the directors of my branches in the USA, but I wasn't. Instead, I was looking at a photo sent by my private investigator. Sarah and Ryan were in a café, talking like friends. Although I didn't like Ryan getting close to Sarah, I didn't forbid it. There were two main reasons for that. First, he was an employee, and I couldn't control his relationships outside of work. Second, Ryan would be an intermediary to keep me informed about Sarah. If that wasn't beneficial, I had two options: act unethically, force Ryan to stay away or fire him. I didn't intend to do any of that.
So, the day after our conversation in the helicopter, I traveled to Portland while Ryan met Sarah in Seattle. Following my orders, the loan shark gave Rachel a final deadline to repay the borrowed amount, along with interest, within thirty days.
I considered fulfilling my promise to Ryan and helping Sarah find work to sustain herself, as her salary would be limited. Thinking about Sarah raised questions I didn't want to explore but were becoming increasingly evident. I desired her, but I didn't want to get emotionally involved with her.
However, Sarah didn't seem like the type of person who would accept a relationship based solely on sexual pleasure. That kind of situation seemed more fitting for Rachel, although even that didn't arouse desire in me. Her body repelled me. It was strange and inexplicable because physically, they were similar, but my body sensed the difference in their personalities, desiring one and rejecting the other.
At that moment, the phone on my desk rang, indicating an internal call, but I let it ring until it went to voicemail. A few seconds after the phone stopped ringing, my secretary lightly knocked on my office door and entered without waiting for my command.
My eyebrow arched at the unexpected intrusion, but upon seeing the seriousness on the employee's face, I deduced that the matter was of utmost importance. She apologized for interrupting and proceeded to explain that there was a young woman in the reception area insisting on speaking with me.
"Several people arrive at the reception of my company insisting on speaking with me," I pointed out. "What's different about this situation?"
"She claimed it's something related to Mrs. Graham."
The response surprised me. Immediately, I stood up with anxiety and went around the desk, concerned that something might have happened to my mother.
In the midst of my agitation, I asked her to allow the young woman to come in.
"Also, see if you can locate Ryan," I added.
"I will do that. Excuse me."
The anxiety intensified as I approached the panoramic window in my office, trying to maintain my composure. If something serious had happened to my mother, the nurses would have contacted me. The question that tormented me was: what was the matter related to my mother that this young woman was bringing to me? The uncertainty made the wait agonizing.

I wondered where my supposed fortune and millionaire husband was, as we only reap what we sow. At just twenty-two years old, I was fully aware of the many mistakes I had made. I recognized that my motivation had been selfishness, without considering the consequences for others. Now, I found myself facing the situations resulting from these misguided actions. I wondered where my supposed fortune and millionaire husband was, as we only reap what we sow.
I decided to act and play by the rules set by Kael Graham, who had no idea what I was capable of doing to achieve my desires. I was determined to have him in my hands. However, a slip-up resulted in the loss of my safety net due to my father's death, leaving me vulnerable and falling into a trap prepared by Kael Graham and Shirley. I lost all the people who were associated with me and were always willing to do everything according to my will.
I then decided to go to the headquarters of Anglo-X, the detestable company led by Kael Graham, determined to confront him or cause a scandal. As I approached one of the receptionists, I realized she would probably try to stop me if I hinted that I wouldn't take a "no" for an answer. So, immediately, I warned that it was something related to Mrs. Mary Graham, the mother of the esteemed jerk.
"Please wait for a moment, please," the receptionist asked, gesturing for me to go to the sofas and wait there.
I smiled cynically because I knew the receptionist would probably get in touch with as many people as possible when mentioning Kael's mother's name, who was also my father's lover for many years. I discovered this secret when I was just fifteen, but I preferred to pretend I didn't know anything because it was more convenient for me. I wouldn't gain anything by conflicting with Patrick Mitchell.
My own mother said that her husband had extramarital affairs, so why should I judge or want to change that? That wasn't my concern.
A few minutes passed, and the previously brusque receptionist called me in a friendly manner, discreetly waving for me to follow her. She informed me that I should go up to the thirtieth floor, where Mr. Graham was waiting for me.
Upon arriving at the indicated floor, I came across a distinguished lady, the typical efficient and discreet secretary, clearly prepared to escort me to the boss's office.
"Good morning, miss...?" the woman greeted, already seeking privileged information: my name.
"Rachel Mitchell," I decided not to lie about my true identity.
I was on a complicated mission that would require all my talent, and the secretary of Graham was the least of my problems, so let's get on with it.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Mitchell. I'm Marta, Mr. Graham's secretary, and I'll accompany you to his office."
"Thank you, Marta," I thanked sincerely, as unlike the boss, she was quite courteous, and I would need all the patience I didn't possess to deal with that imbecile.
