Men are Idiots
Rachel
I had come to believe that things couldn't get worse than they already were, but I discovered that it was more than possible when I came face to face with Enrico Bianchi at the hotel where I was staying.
There couldn't have been a more embarrassing moment to encounter Enrico, especially after almost a month of absence, and precisely when I was sweaty from the long walk from the hotel where I had met Orion. But apparently, luck was not on my side that day.
Anyway, the worst had already passed, and now all I needed was a hot shower and a comfortable bed to sleep in, hoping to forget that this night had happened in my life. Tomorrow, things would seem different and less terrible than they were right now—at least that's what I fervently hoped for.
I reached the modest hotel room, something very different from the standard I used to choose, but I took into account the little money left in my bank account and opted to make it stretch as far as possible.
I took off the elegant shoes from my dirty feet, just like my hands were, and felt the burning sensation caused by the small injuries resulting from a big fall I had suffered while trying to cover that long distance with those high and thin heels. I also hurt my hands, which used to support me when I was going down. After that, I had to walk barefoot, despite the shame I felt. The fear of encountering some thug along the way made me walk as fast as possible and ignore the people who looked at me with curiosity because I was so well-dressed and made up, holding the shoes in my hands.
In the shower, as the hot water flowed over my body, the memories of what had happened during my encounter with Orion lingered in my mind, and the humiliation was still very much alive.
Hot tears mixed with the water, imperceptible but copiously flowing, as I cried profusely, feeling miserable and dirty. I used the liquid soap to scrub my body harder than necessary. Even though I hadn't given in to that horrendous man, I still felt as dirty as he was, just because he had tried to kiss me without my consent.
I remembered the moment he threw my bag away, breaking my phone in the process, and demanded oral sex, which I vehemently refused, running to retrieve my bag from the floor.
"Where do you think you're going, you slut!?" he shouted, trying once again to prevent me from leaving the suite by grabbing my arm. "I've told you, you won't leave here without giving me what I want."
"If you insist on touching me without my consent, I'll make such a scene that you can't even imagine!" I threatened.
He didn't seem intimidated at all, throwing my bag to the ground again, laughing at me, and making light of the situation.
"I'm not afraid of a pauper like you, Rachel," he said with his filthy smile. "You're no match for me. You won't have any support either."
I stared at that unscrupulous man, something I knew all too well, as it had always been my trademark. I realized he truly wasn't afraid of me or anything I might try to use against him. It was clear that I needed to get out of there as quickly as possible, and I quickly changed my attitude, hoping to escape before the situation worsened.
"Alright, then," I said, smiling sensually. "I'll do what you want, darling."
He released my arm, falling quickly into my trap.
"Finally, you started using your head again, girl," he commented, taking a few steps toward the corridor. "Come on, let's go to the bedroom."
I pretended to follow him, but instead, I ran in the opposite direction. I knew the door was only slightly ajar, and I left that suite so quickly that even if he had anticipated something like this, Orion wouldn't have been able to stop me.
"Deceptive bitch!" I could still hear his yell before slamming the door shut. The elevator was open, and a couple was entering the steel cabin as I shouted for them to hold it open for me.
"Thank you!" I expressed my gratitude as soon as I entered, and the doors closed. I then tried to justify my haste, "I'm running very late."
"It was nothing," the woman replied, and I smiled at her in a friendly manner.
When I left the hotel with no money and my bank card in my purse, I thought it best to walk. I needed to block it as soon as possible, as I had no intention of having any contact with that jerk again.
After walking to my own hotel, I had the displeasure of running into Enrico, which was completely unexpected and frankly quite unwanted. To make matters worse, he was accompanied by a woman who seemed stuck to him like glue.
I had no interest in Enrico and considered him completely unsuitable for me. I remembered the effort he put into trying to win me over and make me fall in love with him, even using Sarah to achieve that. He might be considered a catch, if it weren't for the fact that he expected love from me, something I had no intention of giving to any man. They were all idiots, arrogant, and traitors.
Nothing had changed, and I still believed Enrico could only bring me trouble and complications. This was confirmed once again seeing him with the clingy woman, I thought, feeling a painful twinge in my chest.
After dressing in comfortable clothes, I sat down to reflect on what had happened and make a plan to move forward. Orion might have been an unpleasant experience, but I was determined not to let it define me. From that moment on, I was determined to take charge of my life and move forward firmly and confidently, as I always had.
