Important Ally

I looked at the girl beside me, clearly depressed, and felt a weight on my conscience for having something to say that would only increase her sadness. However, the time would come to reveal the truth; she deserved to know. We were walking towards our pit box, where our team was stationed, while I reflected on what might have happened between her and the guy who had been following us for a few days.
Sarah was clearly in love with him, although she hadn't confided in me about it. It seemed like that night had happened a long time ago.
So much had happened since then!
On the night I left the nightclub with Rachel, we had only ended up sleeping together. Rachel was quite drunk, which was due to the drinks she had at the club. During that night, she let slip some information, revealing that Lorenzo had abandoned her to be with Sarah, claiming to be in love with her sister.
However, I suspected that Sarah had left the club with the American businessman, and I deduced that the relationship between Lorenzo and her hadn't had a chance to blossom. One of the reasons I thought this way was because I witnessed a moment of great intimacy between Lorenzo and Hillary, which surprised me greatly. This scene made me reconsider the whole situation involving Sarah.
I realized that I might have been selfish in leaving Sarah in that situation at the club, especially when I suspected that she and her beloved hadn't gotten along on the night they met at the club due to some interference from my Formula One rival.
However, I understood that I was completely mistaken after seeing Lorenzo with Hillary. I came to the obvious conclusion that everyone seemed to have abandoned Sarah, including myself, even after she had helped me with my "plan."
"It might just be my impression, but I feel like you have something to tell me, but you're hesitating," Sarah mentioned when we reached the point where we needed to part ways.
"How about we have dinner together?"
To ensure a more peaceful conversation, I found this idea more suitable.
"Sure," she agreed promptly. "Maybe then you'll feel comfortable talking."
"Okay, it's a plan. We'll talk better tonight."
After Sarah headed to her post on the racing team, and I to mine, I pondered what to do. Should I tell her about what happened yesterday afternoon, what led me to seek her out yesterday, or would it be better to keep her in the dark?
However, I felt the need to understand who that man was and what his relationship was with the two sisters. Therefore, I decided that after the afternoon practice sessions, I would have an honest conversation with Sarah.
While I trained, memories of the few moments when Rachel stayed in my apartment came to mind: how she treated me the morning after waking up next to me again, and the evident anger at this happening between us once more.
"What's your problem, Rachel?" I asked, genuinely upset with her attitude. "I'm rich, I have as much or more money than Fiori."
"Money has nothing to do with this story!" she protested vehemently.
"I wasn't born yesterday, girl," I said cynically. "I know the only thing that was keeping you with Fiori was his fortune because you're not in love with him, as you made Sarah believe and so many other people believe."
"You're crazy! I loved Lorenzo," she declared but turned away from me.
"Loved? Well, it's all good now; it's over," I said ironically. "Now your heart is free, and I'm the perfect man to fill that place."
"Thanks, but I'm not interested," she promptly refused.
I stared at her, unable to believe her response, and once again questioned the reason for her stance.
I was fully convinced that Rachel wanted to find a man who could maintain the lifestyle she was accustomed to, and I could offer her that. However, she still didn't want to accept that we were the perfect match.
"I don't understand you, Rachel," I said, feeling a bit defeated. "I know you, but I don't really understand you."
After that brief conversation, she went to the bathroom to freshen up a bit, and after coming out, she left my apartment without even saying goodbye.
"Bianchi?" I heard my name called over the car's radio. "You just missed the pit entry."
The information caught me by surprise, realizing that I hadn't heard the signal to end the practice. This negligence worried me because it could affect my performance or even lead to a violation of the strict sports regulations.
I decided to accelerate even more, and after completing one more lap, I promptly followed the team engineers' request and entered the pits. I quickly removed my helmet and balaclava, and after getting out of the car, I also took off my gloves.
While receiving recommendations from the Nessyscar team engineers and technicians, I observed Sarah approaching the team boss. When they met, she handed him some papers. At that moment, my conscience weighed even heavier on me, pressing me to tell her what had happened. It was something of utmost importance that she needed to know.
Finally, when the conversation between Sarah and the boss ended and she started to walk away, I followed quickly, catching up with her before she could get too far away.
"Sarah," I called, my voice revealing the inner turmoil I was facing.
She turned to me, her eyes searching mine with curiosity and concern. "What is it, Kael?"
I took a deep breath, gathering the courage to say the words I'd been putting off for so long.
Now, more than ever, I realized that we needed to come together because I was not willing to give up on Rachel at all!
