Chapter 36

Aria's POV

"The building was on the verge of collapsing! We must save the people on the inside!" I heard Khalil and Lucas look at me, and Elias attempted to add more support to the ground so that the building would not come crashing down.

"Everyone! Do whatever it takes to save the people in that building." I commanded the other protectors to obey, but Ezekiel refused.

"Ezekiel! Why aren't you moving? Khalil's here, don't worry." Ezekiel is worried about me; I ordered him.

"I don't want it to happen again when I abandon you!" Ezekiel added, and I touched both of his shoulders.

"This time is different; I'm commanding you to help the people inside the building; you won't abandon me; just help the people!" Ezekiel nodded and followed the other protectors inside.

"Withdraw, Master! The building is dangerous. It could fall without our knowing," Khalil suggested. As Lucas and Elias balanced the building, we retreated. Later, I saw the people the protectors saved as authorities barricaded the area for the people's safety.

Aiden and Wyatt approached me, and Kai appeared to have escaped.

"I'm sorry, master, but Kai escaped, and I saw him with Erza as they fled," Aiden said. I looked around at how people rushed out of the building as the authorities assisted them.

"Aiden and Wyatt, assist the other protectors in guiding the people outside," I said, and they nodded.

I felt helpless. After all, I couldn't do anything because I couldn't control my power. I look at Khalil, who is serious and ready to protect me if anything happens.

"We can't take it any longer!" I heard Elias, and no one was inside the building.

"The people are already outside, but we need to evacuate them to a safe location so that the building does not collapse and no one is injured!" I told Elias and Lucas, and they nodded.

"Be cautious; Kai may be present, and be alert!" Lucas said, and I nodded as Khalil and I approached the employees of Lucas.

"Follow me to safety!" I told the employees, and they followed me, as did the authorities, who helped evacuate and save Lucas's employees; there were ambulances, medical personnel, and firemen personnel to assist in the scene.

As we got further away, I worried that the building would collapse before Lucas and Elias could escape.

"I need your help erecting a barrier between Lucas and Elias to protect them, Khalil." I gave Khalil the order. He utilized his ability to erect a barrier. Lucas and Elias abandoned their attempt to balance the building.

They ran together, and Khalil used a protection barrier to keep all of us safe here. I heard the ground shake, and when I looked at the building, it collapsed little by little, but everyone was safe.

I felt like it was my fault that Lucas Company was destroyed. I understand how difficult it is to construct another building.

"Aria! Are you all right? Were you hurt somewhere?" Lucas inquired, and I shook my head.

"I'm fine, but your company's building is completely destroyed," I told him, and he immediately hugged me.

"I don't care; I can buy another one. The important thing is that you're safe and that none of my employees are hurt," Lucas said. I hugged him back as we looked at the wreckage and the other protectors in battle outfits approached me.

"Let's hide first because the authorities here are busy," I suggested, and they nodded. I then noticed Christopher approaching us.

"I contacted the authorities! I hope this helps," Christopher said as he took a breath.

"Is that you, Sir Lucas? Thank you for coming to our aid! Are you a hero in this place?" While we were walking away, the employee of Lucas said something, and it appeared that they had no idea who Lucas was.

"You are our savior, sir!! Thank you!" I heard Lucas' secretary say something, and the battle outfit began to wear off.

"This is a secret; I don't want it on social media or the news," Lucas said, shocking everyone.

"But you have a lot of power, sir! We are so lucky to have heroes! But what will happen to us now that the company building has been torn down? What's going to happen to us?" Lucas' secretary said he was sad, so I held Lucas' hand and looked at his secretary.

"Everything will be fine. You heard him, he's the CEO, and you must follow him," I said to Lucas' secretary, who remained silent.

"I'll handle this, Aria. You don't have to worry about it, so knowing us is fine," Lucas clarified, tapping my shoulder.

"I'm not worried, and you need to rest because you use your power too much," I told him.

"First, I need to explain what happened to the authorities and my employees. Then I'll make my official statement, broadcast on the news. Then I'll just redevelop my company's building," Lucas stated. As he approached the people receiving treatment, I nodded.

"Are we leaving now?" Jaxon asked, and I turned to face Khalil.

"Khalil, are you tired of using your protection barrier?" When I asked him, he simply lay down.

"I believe he isn't yet powerful because you haven't used your power, master," Irish suggested. He patted Khalil on the head.

"Logan, teleport the other protectors, Christopher and Khalil, to the mansion; I will wait for Lucas; all of you did a good job; you can now rest," I told him, and he nodded as they teleported.

I look at Lucas, who has finished talking and making a statement with his secretary about what happened to the people and media. When he looked at me, I remembered his sports car was inside the building in the parking lot and had also been destroyed.

"I guess we'll take a taxi; I think there will be an investigation according to the authorities," I said to Lucas, who looked at my back in shock.

"Yes, and you allowed the others to teleport back to the mansion?" Lucas inquired, and I nodded.

"Do you have an issue with that? Khalil needed to rest because he was tired," I said to him, and he took my hand in his as we walked.

"To be honest, I was shocked when I saw you fall into the building, and I remember the past when you died," Lucas said as we walked and stopped to wait for a taxi.

"I'm sorry if I made you worried about me; I was also shocked that I fell, and I don't know what to do because I can't control my power right now," I told Lucas as a taxi pulled up in front of us and let me in first.

Lucas gave his address when we got into the taxi driver.

I was also surprised that I had fallen earlier, but he was in an adrenaline rush when he saved me. After approximately an hour, we arrived at the mansion, and Lucas had compensated the taxi driver due to the incident.

We exited and entered the gate; as we entered the mansion, I saw the protectors waiting. Ezekiel treated Jaxon and Isaac's wounds while Khalil slept.

"Welcome back, master," the eight protectors said respectfully.

"How are you all doing? Are both of you okay? It seems to be a minor injury." When I asked Ezekiel, he nodded, as did the other protectors.

"Are you okay, Christopher?" I asked him, and I believe he was shocked by what had happened earlier.

"I'm fine; I'm just shocked," he said.

"Just rest. Everything will be fine now," I told the protectors as they inhaled deeply.

"Master, I'm preparing some food here; we need to eat to regain our strength!" I heard Wyatt and came into the kitchen to find him preparing his homemade chicken, steamed Chinese dumplings, and pasta.

"You're cooking on your own; do you want me to assist you?" I told him, and he smiled.

"Of course, you can assist. If the steamed Chinese dumplings are already cooked, you can check it," Wyatt said, and I agree.

Lucas approached us and looked at the steamed Chinese dumplings, then picked one with a fork and ate it; I just let him, and I saw Wyatt making a sauce for the steamed Chinese dumplings.

"Can you get the marinated breast chicken from the fridge, Lucas? I'll need it for the pasta I'm going to make and cook," Wyatt said, and Lucas nodded as he picked it up from the fridge.

"Today was a difficult day for us, but I am thankful we could overcome it today. Now I have to fix my company," Lucas said. I smiled back at him for being optimistic about what had happened.
