Second Chance
Elena Pov
The car stopped after fifteen minutes of driving, so I knew we were still in New York City. The car door opened as someone grabbed my arm roughly, and the man guided me to watch my steps.
“Lyra, are you okay?” I asked. The blindfolds still covered my eyes and did not gag my mouth.
“I am fine,” Lyra whispered, coming next to me, and a little relief knowing she was next to me and not away. My butt hit the hard chair as they tied my wrists and legs.
“Do you want money? I can just give you. Name your price, and let us go free. I swear I won’t call the police”. I tried to speak with my abductors, who didn’t utter any interest in my offer.
“Please let us go,” I begged.
“You need to be quiet, lady. If you keep speaking, it won’t do good.” A sharp voice that was that of a man. His words made me shudder in terror.
“What do you want from us? I am sure you don’t want a ransom,” Lyra asked in a growl.
Whack! I gasped at the sound of a hard strike, and I heard a low moan escape from Lyra.
“I am clear to you now. When I say not to utter any other word,” a man hissed.
“How dare you slap her, bastard?” I hissed. Instead of being afraid of the abductor, I know riling him up is foolish, but I felt anger bubble in me as he hit Lyra, and I couldn’t stop.
Whack! A sting of pain rose on my left cheek.
“Asshole, I suggest you let off my ties, and I will show you a good fight,” I snapped as my anger raged at me. Another burn rose on my right cheek, harder than the previous one.
“Stop it, Elena, don’t argue,” Lyra’s voice came, begging me. This time, a slapping sound came next to me, and I knew the asshole had struck Lyra.
“Wyatt, I need you to calm down. The Boss won’t like this,” a new voice of a man entered the room.
“These bitches can’t shut their mouths. You know I hate human voices,” he whispered. What does he mean he hates human voices? This man is not mortal.
“Shut up, Wyatt; they can still hear you before you complete the sentences. Let’s walk outside and wait for the boss.” Their steps faded, and the door shutting clarified that the abductors were not in the room.
“Are you okay, Lyra?” I asked.
“Yeah, I am,” she whispered.
“These guys are weird. They don’t want money. So what else do they want from us?” I muttered, trying to speak with Lyra to calm the anxiety that was getting better with each passing time as I struggled to get out of the ropes that bound me to the steel chair.
“Elena, you need to breathe in and out. You are panicking” Lyra’s calm voice made me realize how hard it was for me to breathe. I followed her instructions, but it did nothing to calm me down.
“Lyra, these guys are not humans. Did you not hear that man say he hates human voices?” I huffed.
“I heard it, Elena. You need to breathe first,” Lyra said calmly again. The rustling sound of the door opening scared me more than something in the air changed, telling me of danger.
“Who struck her face so hard?” A familiar voice came with a hint of annoyance. It only took seconds to identify this voice, Jake. This bastard stooped so low to abduct me.
“Jake, you fucking bastard,” I growled.
“Feisty Little Elena,” Jake said as the blindfold went off and, blinking to see the smirk on Jake’s face, made my blood boil.

Silas - POV
I had been trying to sniff the air to pick up on Elena’s Jasmine scent, like manic, as I searched every abandoned building and warehouse, and next to me, Bruno was huffing as we stood at a dead end.
“I don’t understand why you can’t pick up on your mate’s scent,” Bruno hissed.
“Someone is trying to cloak Elean’s scent, knowing my identity.” I clenched my hand in a balled-up fist. I could hear Ray growling and hissing and cursing at me for not being able to find Elena.
“Who would do that? Could it be someone aware that my master is your mate and wants to have leverage?” Bruno said. His words once again had a point. The pack elders, omega and Beta, are aware of Elena. Could they be traitors, but why would they do such a thing?
“I don’t know what to think right now,” I said. Losing hope here was not a chance, so I pushed myself and kept on searching for her. Fuck, I forgot. I could summon essential magic that helped to enhance my senses beyond the camouflage magic. I did, and my nostrils got a faint hold of our mate’s scent, and I rushed in one direction, with Bruno following behind.
Reaching the warehouse, I paused, trying to pick up on the voice of the abductors, but it was silent. I sniff the air. There was no one around it except Elena’s scent was m. I burst the door open to see Elena’s hand bruised on her hands and legs and rushed to her side to take her to the hospital.
The doctors took care of Elena’s health. Bruno walked next to me as I went back to inspect the area before the police swooped in and tampered with the evidence. There was not Elena’s blood scent, but more scent of blood, and the other chair next to Elena drew my attention, and it was a blood pool.
“Lyra, is she fine, or did they kill her?” Bruno spoke with sadness, lace, as he stood next to me. Who is Lyra? Wait, I remember the housemaid Mac told me, glaring at him when Mac went to pick up Elena. I felt the same dark energy that came to Elena when she was back in the Pack.
“What are you, Elena? Why are such powerful creatures surrounding you?” I questioned myself.
“Did you not pick up one more familiar scent” Ray's words got my attention, and I knew what Ray was getting at. The smell belonged to Jake, so if he uses magic, Jake is not human. This causes more problems than assumed.
Elena’s identity verification is necessary, and I must take her to the Pack. First, she needs time to recover from such trauma she has gone through a lot. Reaching back to the hospital, the police inquire about things from Elena about what caused her to be in a state, and she doesn’t know about what happened to her. I told the officers I had found her lying in the alley, not in a disclosing warehouse. Before entering the ward, the doctor informed me she only remembered leaving the office last night. The trauma has blocked the rest of her memories. It was good Elena wouldn’t have to go through the fear of what happened to her in that warehouse.
“Silas,” Elena said as she tried to sit up and hissed as I lent my hand to assist her.
“Take it easy, Elena,” I whispered. I didn’t know I was caressing her hand until Elena looked at the connected hands. I let go of her hand.
“Touch her. We can heal our mate quicker than this human medicine,” Ray growled. Wolfs can heal their mates’ wounds or bruises through touch, or my wolf’s saliva can heal.
“Elena, do you mind if I hold your hand?” I asked, and she looked at me with a bit of surprise. I treated her coldly and created a wall between us for her safety.
“You know what? Forget what I just said,” seeing her uncomfortable at my question, it was better not to get close.
“Ms. Hayes,” Janice, the secretary of Elena, walked in the worried face. “What happened? Who did this”
“Relax, she doesn’t remember what happened,” I said. She nods, and Janice freezes as she looks at the doorframe. I turned to see Jake standing.
“I heard on the news about you. So I came to check on you,” Jake said. I want to kill this motherfucker who was the one behind Elena’s kidnapping.
“You had better not take another step if you do. I will dent that face.” His eyes met mine and raised in question at my threat.
“Who are you to stop me”? Jake smirked at me and put a docile face towards Elena.
“Asshole, that woman you are looking at. She is our mate, so back off before I rip you,” Ray growled in my head. I tried to calm him down and also kept my rage in check.
“Silas, why are you stopping Jake? Let him in.” Elena’s words shocked Janice and me. As he held Elena’s hand and she let him touch her, it took every nerve to stop me from punching Jake to death.
“I am sorry, Elena, for hurting you and cheating…. I want you to give me a second chance.” Jake acted to be emotional as he had teary eyes in front of Elena. “When I heard you were hurt. I couldn’t stop thinking and knew my heart still cared about you.”
“Elena doesn’t need a douchebag like you,” I said in rage, and Elena’s eyes looked at me and then at Jake, who glared at me.
