The uncovering of illusion
Elena - POV
My pulse beat quicker, and my palm grasped the steering wheel as I saw the wolf, much larger than typical wolves whose canines appeared threatening; the wolf’s saliva dripped from its mouth as it snarled at me. In a split second, I saw Silas dart in front of my car, his speed otherworldly, his garments shredding so quickly that his human flesh changed into fur. Silas morphed into the wolf standing before me, snarling at the growling wolves. The three smaller wolves seemed intimidated by Silas’ enormous black wolf.
I gasped, horrified to witness Silas’ wolf slash the other wolves so viciously, shedding blood and fur and ripping apart horrible body parts. Like something out of a horror film.
I shouldn’t have taken that detour to my shooting route, but I had to go there because I couldn’t find my backpack, and I believe I brought Jake’s old iPad with me. If I could find some of Jake’s acquaintances and get their addresses, I could figure out where Jake went to exact his vengeance on me. I deeply regret this decision right now.
I mustered the courage to step out, and while trying to recover my breath, Silas Black Wolf jerked his head in my way as soon as he heard the car door close.
I cringed as his golden gaze locked on mine. Simply by looking at me, Silas Wolf’s murderous lust dissipated into a warm, fuzzy feeling, and as he took a step toward me, I recoiled.
“Please don’t hurt me,... You can rest assured. I will never reveal the fact that you are a shape shifter, Silas.” He took a step closer to me, and I moved away from him as I saw his clawed hand bloodied and his mouth coated in it, which did not help me calm down but was terrifying.
“Don’t injure me, Silas; if I tell anyone about how you transformed back into a wolf from the human form, they’ll think I’m insane.” The wolf’s eyes became mournful as Silas’ wolf stopped approaching me. I try to catch my breath. The sound of breaking bones made me wince. Oh my god, I don’t know how I got myself into this mess.
I noticed Silas standing naked on his frame, and he looked so fucking hot that I tried not to gaze at Dick or his ravishing abs for too long, instead focusing on his sharp jawline. Silas’s irises held a golden hue to his natural blue hue.
“Elena, you need to take a deep breath.” Silas tried to calm me down.
“You are going to need to cover your dick. It is a distraction for me. I’ve never seen such a massive size before. Besides that, Jake’s dick is on the diminutive side,” I blurted out. Silas stopped and looked at me, trying to hide his amusement for a few seconds. What the living hell am I even trying to say here?
“I’m sorry.... I’m panicking and spouting garbage. Let me hand you the extra towel.” I spoke, walking to the car’s back seat and handing him the towel. He secured his lower frame, and I gave him another hand towel with which he wiped his bloody hands.
“Don’t leave just yet. We need to talk. Let me put on some clothes.” Silas added.
Silas walked to his car, parked at a short distance; Silas got dressed. I sat back in my car, trying not to notice the gruesome image in front of me. I scrolled social media on my phone.
“Would you mind unlocking the car, Elena?” Silas stated. I hesitated for a moment before allowing Silas to enter my vehicle. There were no signs of blood or body when I looked at the scene. I looked at Silas in disbelief.
“Where did that wolf’s corpse and blood... vanish, Silas?”
“Magic,” he mumbled, and Silas gazed at me with concern.
“Oh! I see. I believe I am losing my mind.” I spoke, alarmed.
“Elena, I know it’s hard for you to take in what you saw, but it’s reality. Mythical creatures exist.”
“Why are you telling me this? Aren’t you supposed to keep this information from me? Either wipe it from my mind or kill me since I’ve discovered your secret.” Silas leaned close and placed a warm touch on my face. I stared at Silas with rapt attention as his lips brushed against mine. The unexpected contact startled me, but I returned his kiss.
I pulled away from the kiss to recover my breath, and the fear I had been experiencing in Silas’s presence seemed to vanish. Silas’ vibe told me he wouldn’t hurt me.
“Elena, the Wolf Land is where all wolf shifters live. I’m telling you this because you are my fated mate. Also, the Luna.” Silas explained how the mate bond works and how our mutual attraction is the reason for the fate thread.
“Who would believe me that my life is becoming a cinematic project in which I am playing the role of Luna not behind reels, but in real life,” I murmured. It is challenging to wrap my head around the fact that Silas is an Alpha and that a pack of wolves inhabit the wolf's land.
“I am a human being. How am I to be your Luna...” I inquired.
“I’m not sure yet, but I’m figuring it out...” Silas muttered, trying not to say anything else as we sat in awkward quiet.
“You slaughtered those wolves. If they were fellow line-shifters, then why did you take their lives?” I inquired.
“Those are Feral wolves who harm humans and our kind for Joy,” Silas said disgustingly. I cringed, but he lowered his voice when he saw my reaction.
“I’ll head to my hotel suite...” taking a deep breath. “I need some time to process things.”
“Given your condition, I doubt you’ll be able to drive back. Let me drop you back at the hotel.” As Silas looked concerned at me, I felt as though my vision was getting blurred.
“Elena, your body cannot withstand magic ...” Silas worriedly whispered before I slipped into the void.

Silas - POV
Moving Elena's Frame to the passenger seat, I took control of the vehicle. Taking Elena back to the hotel suite would be a long drive, and she needed medical attention immediately, so I took her to Wolf Land instead. I tried to use some simple healing magic to bring her back to consciousness, but it had no effect; unlike the last time, Elena was okay, but not this time.
Elena's terrified stare haunted me the entire drive. Her reaction to discovering the truth. In that way, Elena was distancing herself from me. I'm at a loss for words to convey my feelings, but I don't blame Elena because any human would react the same way. I told the guard to get my car to the mansion.
Mac and Yuri stepped out of the mansion, their eyes wide as I held Elena inside the estate, and Mac rushed to get the Doctor before I could say anything.
"Why do I always see Elena in such a frail state, always unconscious?" Yuri whispered. I glared at her.
"Elena knows the truth," I explained. I was taking in the sight of Elena's unconscious form.
"What do you mean....? Oh, no... Did you inform her we are wolves?" Yuri inquired, surprised.
"Yes," I whispered.
"How did Elena know Alpha? You made certain she was unaware of our existence."
"Yuri, I've chosen Elena as my partner," I explained. I briefed her on recent events as she gasped. Yuri's face seemed to fill with anguish when he heard Elena's reaction to him. Our Pack's Doctor Rudolf raced in. Doctor Rudolf looked surprised to see Elena; the Doctor healed her with a different spell than usual.
"What is the matter with Elena, Dr. Rudolf?" I inquired. He looked at me calmly.
"Alpha, I believe she should avoid using magic. If it constantly exposed her to magic, she will become weaker. Some humans are affected." Dr. Rudolf clarified. Mac escorted Dr. Rudolf went away from the mansion.
"So, Alpha, what are your plans for the future? While Jake is on the run, the police officer has his sights set on Elena. How are you going to shield her from this mess?" Yuri inquired, concerned.
"Yuri, you must research officer Ted Lawrence and uncover any dirt on him. So if he tries to drag Elena into a mess, we'll have the upper hand. Regarding Jake, set the witch Emily and Mac on the hunt for him." I explained. Yuri stood for a few seconds.
"What about Drake? Doesn't he want Elena to be his bride?" I regret to tell Yuri about Drake, but I added to confide in her to get information about Drake.
"Yuri, stop fucking wondering when I feel like shit, and my mate is terrified of me and wants to get away from me." It's not a pleasant sensation. You won't comprehend because you don't have a friend." I snarled at Yuri; she recoiled at my remarks and looked sad as she went. I felt awful about shouting out at Yuri.
"Doesn't our mate despise us? I could see it in Elena's eyes earlier." Ray spoke gloomily.
"Ray, give her some space. She is a person. Elena had never witnessed a human transform into a wolf. It will be challenging." Even though I was sad, I tried to reason because I knew Elena would try to distance herself from me, and my gut told me I needed to keep my thoughts hidden from Ray, who was already sad.
Elena regained consciousness. Not wanting to frighten her further, I sat far from her. "Wolf Land?" Elena asked in hushed tones. I confirmed with a nod.
"What caused me to pass out?" Elena mumbled to herself. "I'd like to go on a shoot. Could you please take me back?" I nodded, saying nothing to her or giving her the truth about her reason for passing out. I can't scare Elena more.
"I'd also like to ask you a question. Is it possible to break the mate bond?" Elena asked carefully, and I nodded while stifling my pain.
"In that case, could we do the mate's rejection? I am currently not prepared for this or any other form of relationship. Please understand my state, it's too much..."
"No need to explain to me Elena; I understand." Her eyes were filled with sadness, as if she, too, was unhappy to bring up such a subject, but I sensed she had another reason Elena was unwilling to share.
I told Elena we couldn't reject her mate because of her fragile health. Still, in reality, I'm just buying time to make her fall in love with me while simultaneously assisting her in forgetting her painful history and mending her heart.
I will let go of my former mate and go to welcome Elena. Elena and I walked downstairs to get Elena to the shoot.
"Alpha…." Emma and Henry both paused. Letty walks in, accompanied by my in-laws Freya and Terrance.
"What is Elena doing here?" Henry's mind linked to me.
"Elena, what a great surprise to see you here," Letty exclaimed, delighted to see Elena. I could tell Elena was terrified, knowing they were all shifters, so she put up a brave face and pretended to be okay.
"I came here to see how Yuri is doing. Now that Yuri recovered, I was just leaving to get going on my shoot." Elena smiled warmly. I noticed my ex-father-in-law glaring at Elena, and Freya appeared to be disturbed seeing Elena because they must have lately discovered through Henry that Elena was my mate.
"Mr. Ford, we need you for the meeting. We cannot delay it; therefore, can Yuri please drop off Ms. Hayes?" Emma proposed.
"That's an excellent idea," Elena interjected before I argued with Emma. I had to let Elena go with Yuri.
