Anguish atmosphere
Silas - POV
Elena and I, along with Drake, took flight, though Elena said to look for Letty. I couldn't care less about her. After all, she is Alpha. Letty can fight the troubles with her. My mate is my priority over any other woman.
We stepped into the morgue; the officer showed us the body. She came to a halt. Elena shivered, seeing the corpse's countenance disfigured even to interpret the identity.
"Lyra…. this is her corpse… the ring is my gift I gave her on last year's birthday," Elena spoke through tears. I escorted her outside the morgue as she couldn't stand on her two legs. She shivers and cries.
"Elena, I have put the evidence to light." Elena looked through her tear-stained eyes mixed with perplexity. "The video we found on Jake's phone passed to the officers, and they have charged the case against Jake, so he can't have the name and fame in the Human world."
"Jake! That bastard is not human; after all, he will manipulate the human officers and escape again." Elena hissed. I looked around to see any officers, but luckily there were none.
"We will both make sure Jake pays for it," Drake added. Though I wouldn't say I liked the idea of teaming up with Dragon, if Elena wants Jake to pay for his sins and I have to put up with a nemesis, I will.
"Can you help me with burial services? I would have asked Janice to arrange it, but she is in Minnesota," Elena whispered.
"I am on it," Drake said, getting on his phone. This asshole was racing to compete with me. I suppressed my irritation as I sat next to Elena, who wept silently.
"How did you meet Lyra?" I asked, trying to bring the pleasant moments.
"Though she was a housemaid, Lyra stood with me thick and thin. Lyra never cared about my status or money. Did you know I tested Lyra's loyalty until I could trust her? After learning that she was genuine and not faking it, I felt guilty for putting her on a hard test?"
"What test did you put Lyra to?" I asked, seeing Elena's smiling face and a guilty mixed look.
"I had trust issues after my first housemaid sold my personal dating information to the media for extra money. So I hired new maids, and they worked for a few months. I kept leaking some information without letting the other maids get suspicious."
"So I assume Lyra is a housemaid." Elena nodded.
"Lyra was the one who stood up to my tests. Not only that, she helped me through the highs and lows of my emotional rollercoaster. We both grow closer in time. Lyra became my family." Elena seemed to be lost in the track of her memories. She didn't see Drake return the call.
After the burial, Elena looked worn out; I took her back to my penthouse rather than her own home, where she recollects all her memories of Lyra will anguish her more. Drake had to leave, though he didn't want to go to work. I thanked the moon goddess for putting Drake out of my hair for the time.
Elena looked red with puffy eyes. She refused to drink the alcohol I offered her. I wondered why someone would reject alcohol, but I didn't ask her. I could help wipe away the fresh tears. She freezes at my touch.

Elena - POV
"Elena." His husky voice felt enchantment hearing my name on his lips. Silas stroked my cheeks slowly as I leaned. I kissed his soft lips, tasting like whisky. His brushing against mine, the scent of Silas whirling in my senses, His kiss wrapping me around in the warmth I need the most.
I had never encountered such a fervent kiss in my life. Silas broke apart to gauge my reaction. I pulled him again, our lips brushing with starvation for each other. Every stroke of his lips ignited the heat in my body.
"Elena, are you sure about this?" Silas asked before we could strip each other. I nodded. I didn't want our warmth and passion to fizzle out when I felt cold and empty.
Silas' eyes turned with hunger as he got my consent. Seeing his shirt, I could feel the heat building; I could feel myself blush. Silas smirked at me. His fingers brushed against my skin as he unbuttoned my blouse.
His hand squeezed my breast. I moaned as his fingers were magical on my soft skin. I gasped when his mouth sucked my erect nipples, my fingers through his soft night sky hair so I couldn't hold my moan.
The phone rang. Silas ignored it, but it rang back. He grunted in anger. "You should take it." Silas didn't listen but nibbled my nipples.
The phone rang back again. "Fuck." Silas growled as he walked to get his phone.
“What is it, Yuri,” Silas hissed. His scowl changed into shock and then switched to sadness.
"I am sorry, Yuri," he whispered. I put on my bra and blouse back as I see Silas sitting on the couch as he disconnects the call, his palm on his face. He sighed in frustration.
"Silas, what is going on?" I asked, taking my seat next to him. Silas's ocean-blue eyes looked at me, which held grief in them.
"Come, Silas, speak up. Let me be there for you." I said, seeing Silas look at me.
"You are grieving already, Elena; I can't add more," Silas whispered as he gave me a peck on the lips and put on the shirt.
"Fine, Silas, don't tell me. I thought we were friends. We could be honest with each other, but I see I was wrong." I snapped.
"Elena, I don't understand what you want from me. First, you rejected me, compared me to Jerk ass ex-Fiance, and now you want to friend zone me." Silas, lashing out, felt other emotions than I being the real reason.
"I need to speak up, Silas. You look like shit. What is going on, Silas, after the call? You look shaken." I held his hand as I looked for his pair of shoes.
"Damn, you are stubborn. You won't let it slide."
"You should have known by now. Silas," I closed the distance, and Silas's troubled face looked to disappear with warmth.
"Elena…. I need to go to Minnesota."
"I will come along with you. Are you going to Wolfland?" I asked.
"Yes, I…" Silas paused.
"I can take it; Silas speaks up about what is going on."
"You are grieving. I can't add more pain, Elena," he hissed again.
"Believe me when I say I can stand up from everything, though I have fallen and seen failures many times and they dragged my name into the mud. I know one thing is never to give up. I know this is what Lyra would want me to be, not crying at her death, but being stronger than before." Silas stood, hearing my speech. He glimpsed at me with awe, a mixed, proud look. Did I see him reading his emotions, or was it my imagination? We drove to the airport. I planned to stick with Silas because I felt he was in real trouble, and Silas didn't want to let me in.
"It was Yuri who called me," Silas spoke abruptly as we fled.
"What happened? Are Yuri and her mother okay? Also, Mac and his family."
"Gabrielle died and Mac's parents are dead, too." Silas's voice came with suffering. "As you said, Lyra was your family. Yuri and Mac's family are mine. I wanted to kill Letty. She did the biggest thing of her life to harm my pack." His aura changed as I flinched at his colder words. I could see the flight attendants looking at Silas with fear. I felt lightheaded in his presence.
"Silas. I am sorry for your loss… You need to calm down, Console Yuri and Mac." I whispered as I placed my hand in his. Silas' power retreated.
"Fuck! Are you okay, Elena? Your nose is bleeding." Silas looked alarmed. I found a tissue to stop my bleeding, looking up to stop the flow.
"I am okay. Don't be alarmed; it's just because of a little stress," I whispered.
"We are seeing the doctor first thing we land," Silas said. I didn't want my illness to be known to anyone. I must keep it secret for more time, though Silas is my mate, gaining my trust. It is better to take slow steps in trusting him with me. Everything is still a distant journey.
"No, we have to get you checked."
"Silas, I am fine." He stops at my imposing voice.
"We need to go to the doctor. I am not taking no from you." Silas said.
"Who are you to force me? I said I am fine?" I snapped.
"Mr. Ford, we have landed." The attendant quivered. I looked out the window to find the land and saw the floating clouds.
"You don't have to accompany me, Elena," Silas spoke a third time, convincing me to stay in a hotel and then go to Wolfland with him.
"You have a problem hearing my words." I sighed, getting in his car, which Silas had called for him to go to Wolfland, then take another ride, which he had arranged for me to go to my inn.
"Stubborn," Silas hissed as he sat next to me.
The silent car ride turns back into grief. We both step out of the vehicle to see suffering in everyone. It is palpable as the crying voice, Yuri, gets strong as Silas and I walk next to him. The half-town had surrounded Yuri's home and Mac's home.
As they sense their Alpha's presence, the crowd makes way for Silas to walk toward Yuri and Mac, their eyes mournful, looking at the closed caskets.
