Breaking codes

Elena - POV

“My head feels like I smacked my head against the wall,” I said as I stared at the bright sunshine dazzling my vision.

“Fuck, someone put the drapes back up,” I growled. After my eyes had adjusted to the bright environment, I blinked.

The chamber set looked different to me. I looked undercover to find myself naked—the doorknob moved. I saw Silas step in a while, carrying a bag of food and a cup of coffee.

“Oh, my gosh, did I sleep with Silas?” Inwardly, I let out a groan.

“You’ve woken up.” Silas said, “I informed Janice you’d be late for a shoot.” At the same time as Silas walked towards me, I wrapped the bedsheets over my frame and pulled them as firmly as I could.

“Silas, did we?”

“No, we didn’t have sex. I am not the kind to take advantage of tipsy females. When I sleep with a woman, I need her to be aware of everything I do to her body.” A sensual purr from Silas. The mere notion of his touching me caused my face to flush scarlet. Silas handed me a pair of t-shirts from his closet. I wore a t-shirt, and his perfume helped calm and relieve my headache a little.

“Here.” Silas offered me coffee and bagels, and I accepted them gratefully. Though I could feel his stealthy gaze on me, Silas appeared preoccupied with his phone.

“You may freshen yourself here; I’ll have Janice bring your clothing to my room,” Silas explained. Silas was still gazing at the phone.

“I’m going to my room to freshen up,” I said. The cramps made it impossible for me to move. I let out a groan, and Silas’s eyes narrowed.

“Are you all right?” He inquired, racing to my side. I nod. The cramps I was experiencing were a symptom of my sickness. “I think I’ll get some freshen-up in your room,” I said, knowing that my strength to walk to my room seemed limited.

Silas glanced at me before summoning Janice to retrieve my clothing from my room. After sitting on the bed for a few moments, I remembered kissing Silas before throwing up on him. I felt mortified when the recollection came back to me.

“You seem to remember things from last night, right?” Silas questioned, chuckling at my mortified expression.

“I’m sorry...” I muttered. Silas was about to respond when the doorbell rang. Janice came in with the outfit, and I changed into it and got ready to go to the shoot. Silas drove Janice and me to the shooting location, and I noticed Janice was cheerful.

“You seem chirpy. Did you get laid?” I asked as we sat close in the backseat.

“Ms. Hayes, have you heard the latest updates? You’re back in the positive limelight,” Janice exclaimed as she opened the e-news, which included a photo of me enthusiastically lip-locking with Silas and the title. No longer a damsel in distress, Elena Hayes has moved on to a relationship with her partner, producer Silas Ford.

I went down the page to read what my followers had to say about the post.

“You have my respect, girl. You showed to that scumbag, Jake Smith, that you would not accept a cheater back, so set an example for all the other women.” Comment from a fan.

“It broke my heart to learn that you reconciled with the man who had wronged you, but damn, you exact revenge on him by using Jake’s strategies and letting him taste his own medicine. I’m chuckling at the prospect of Jake getting discarded even more viciously. I hope the best for you, and this Silas may be the one who brings you that.” Another fan remarked.

I beamed at the abundance of heartening comments. I turned to gaze at Janice, who was grinning at me in response. I turned my head to look at Silas, calmly driving the car.

Silas took us off at the shoot and informed us he had some work in Wolf land and could not attend the shoot. I see Drake is already in the shooting. At the same time he was looking, he flashed me a quick grin.

“The next shot will be yours and Drake’s, so practice your lines.” Cindy sternly told me, “We want no more retakes.” I nodded as I approached Drake and asked how he felt because acting can intimidate newcomers.

“Drake,” he looked up from the manuscript.

“Elena, are you in need of anything?” he questioned. I had an odd feeling. Instead of smiling warmly at me like he always does, Drake stared at me sternly. This was very unlike him.

“Ugh…. Do you feel uncomfortable acting or need any guidance? I can help you,” I inquired.

“Don’t worry, I’ve got everything under control,” he added. It seemed like Drake’s usual laid-back demeanor had evaporated, and he was treating me much more coldly. I didn’t ask Drake any further questions because it was better to leave him alone and concentrate on my script to memorize.

“Oh, and congrats.” I turned to Drake’s voice. “You broke up with your cheating Fiance and began dating Silas.” Drake’s tone of voice contained a smile that appeared to be a mask of happiness; however, it seemed he was upset about something.

“I’m not in a relationship. It was just a ruse to get Jake out of my hair,” I explained, and his eyes flashed with an emotion I couldn’t quite understand.

“Yes, I see. By the way, Elena, the team wanted us to appear together at the Met gala,” Drake explained.

“Of course, we’ll go together,” I said with a smile, and I could see relief spread across his face.

Drake and I shoot the scene. Giving it the best shot made sure not to irritate Cindy, who was grumpy as usual. Janice and I drove to Dr. Rudolf’s clinic after the shoot to get the reports.

“Ms. Hayes, please come this way.” The receptionist sent Janice and me to the doctor’s office, and Janice accompanied me to provide moral support. Dr. Rudolf looked up from his files and motioned for me to take a seat.

“Ms. Hayes, I saw the test results; your symptoms are deteriorating; I have written some prescriptions for you to follow, and we will see whether this medication improves your situation. The alternative is that we will need to hospitalize you.” Dr. Rudolf’s statements left me stunned. I could see his mouth moving, but I couldn’t understand because I was panicking, and I could hear Janice and Dr.Rudolf calling me from a distance.

Yuri - POV

Following my recovery, I could not get any rest because Alpha was out of town. I needed to ensure that security was in place. I don’t want to let Alpha down again. The car came to a halt, and I recognized Mac. But what was this strange scent? I scrutinized it. It’s Jake.

“What the fuck happened, Mac? How come you brought Jake here? Also, why is he unconscious?” I inquired.

“Would you just lower that volume?” There’s no need to alert the Pack. Alpha informed me that Jake is a warlock and that we need to extract information from him; now, he will help me distract the guards when I drag this sorry ass to the dungeons.” Mac elaborated.

“Fine,” I said, distracting the guards and allowing Mac to pass through to the dungeons near the region. I dispatched the guards back to the area.

Mac had mind-linked, asking me to meet him at my house to discuss Alpha’s directives.

“What’s the matter, honey?” Mother inquired.

“I am waiting for Mac, and I will explain when he comes,” I murmured, gnawing on my nails, and mum sighed.

“Yuri,” Mac said as he walked through the door.

“I am here,”

“Pay close attention. “You need to decode Jake’s phone’s security code and uncover any information that might be valuable to us,” Jake remarked as he drank the water. Mother cast a troubled glance at me. “I need to locate a witch who can assist me in investigating what she knows about this locket,” Mac revealed the locket, crafted out of white gold and carvings of shadowy wings.

“Yuri and Gabrielle, please keep this between the three of us. Alpha has specifically requested that I keep it hidden from the Elders of the packs.” Mac stated.

“Did you cover Jake’s odor?” I inquired. Mac nodded and went to find the witch. I quickly opened the laptop and inserted the USB cable to decipher the security code on Jake’s phone.

“Yuri, I think Alpha is in love with Elena,” my mother interrupted as I worked on my coding.

“I don’t think he’s so frigid with Elena, mum. Alpha wants to ensure Elena is secure because he wants to atone for what happened to our Luna.” I said. An error message popped on the screen as I tried to enter Jake’s phone with the code.

“I never knew my daughter could be so dense,” my mother said, and I groaned. “You didn’t see how Alpha Silas’ eyes glowed with affection when Elena first arrived at the Pack.”

“I didn’t. When I looked at Alpha, he had a worried expression, then affection in his eyes when Elena was in our pack.”

“Who am I to describe romantic stuff?” My mother laughed at me.

“Mom! I want Elena and Alpha to get together. Although she is only human, she is stunning, intelligent, and a badass lady.” I said.

“You’re correct about that. I like Elena as well,” Mother added with a smile. I unlocked the code for the phone and entered it successfully.

“Finally, we’re in,” I remarked as mother drew the chair next to me, and I opened Jake’s information. I discovered a folder on his phone with extra security, but thanks to hacking software, I could break in.

I played the video. Elena and her other women were bound to the chair when I arrived. Mother and I both exclaimed in surprise.
