Act of foolishness

Six months later

Elena - POV

The Pack flourished, but it wrecked my heart in pain as Emily and I kept on trying and using everything to bring Silas back to life. But there was nothing but rejection. I sighed as I stepped out to see Emily.

"Are you crazy?" Emily hissed. Emily's rage flared again when I told her we could create a staged scene to put me under threat as I stepped into the rogues' wolf's den. Silas's wolf can surface, so we can trace it back. Emily didn't like the idea of me getting hurt.

"Emily, we tried everything, and nothing worked. I want to try this. Even if I get hurt, I will endure." I said calmly, and Emily shook her head with a grimace. Yuri and Mac walked in to give reports on the Pack inventory and finance and security details changes.

"Yuri, are you supporting Elena's crazy idea?" Emily asked. Yuri sighed, not happy with my plan either, nor even Mac.

"Fine, don't agree with me," I snapped. I am sitting behind the desk and scanning the papers. If others don't agree, I will work alone to get Silas's wolf to surface, and playing with danger is nothing new for me anymore.

The skyline turned darker, and everyone went to sleep. I sneaked out of the Mansion and masked my energy. I stepped out of the Pack sneakily without alerting my Pack security.

"Celeste, are you ready?"

"I am ready. Also, ready to use Drake's techniques to detect fine magic in the air," Celeste said confidently. I was happy about that, and thanks to Drake for teaching us the magic elements.

The rotten smell got thick in the vicinity, and I knew I had stepped into the woods where Rogues' wolves wander. I let go of my mask and waited for a few minutes to let my scent linger, and I knew soon there would be welcome growling fangs and the feral eyes of wolves staring at me.

The soft twig snapped behind me, and I turned to see the wolves growling, and I shifted into my wolf, and I let those rogues attack me as I took blows and slashed and moaned in pain. I kept my power sharp to keep my senses active, even though these rogues were striking me down.

A strong wind of magic surfaced around me and had a cooling effect, and the rogue wolves were dead in an instant, and I knew this magic belonged to Silas. When I tried to grasp the enchantment, I found myself in places other than a rotten, murky forest. This place is eerie, but it also gives a sense of calm after the storm passes. I stood up in human form.

I walked forward and looked around. There were bones of creatures that were definitely monsters, and two thrones appeared in front of my eyes. They looked like sculpted human bones mixed with shifter bones; they seemed like thrones of Hellfire.

"Hellfire! Hellfire is where I am!" I barked. I frantically looked for Silas and took a whiff of the air. And nothing worked. I'm sure they're trapped, Silas. This is how I am inside the hellfire.

"Silas! Silas!" I called out as my voice echoed back to me.

"Celeste, any sign of Ray or Silas's energy?"

"I can't sense it," Celeste added with anxiousness.

I searched every corner, but nothing. Tears pricked my eyes. "Silas… Please don't make me cry more."

"Elena…. you are here." Silas's voice appeared in my head.

"Silas, where are you?"

"Shift in wolf. You can see me then." I shifted back and saw a soft white hue cloaking Silas as the black creepers shackled his hand. Seeing Silas, I rushed to get close to the circle of the magic barrier and pushed him back.

"Silas"

"El, it's so good to see you." He whispered weakly. I tried to break the barrier to reach Silas, but he looked paler. The barricade broke as I shifted back and still could see Silas's frame. I kissed his forehead and lips as he smiled at me with happiness. My attention went to the Black creepers. "Be careful. Don't touch it with your bare hands, those black creepers. If you do, Janice and Theo could come to bite my ass." Silas said. I shuddered at the thought that it could resurrect Janice and Theo to make our lives harder.

"How should I free you?" I asked.

"I tried using my magic to free myself of this, but it was no use. I don't know myself," Silas added.

"Let me use my magic," I added.

"Go ahead," Silas whispered. The white hue came to life on my palm, and Silas looked at me with amusement and pride as he watched me work the black creepers, slowly recoiling from my powerful presence.

"You have grown to be stronger." Silas's words hinted at pride in me, and I blushed at his compliment.

"I wondered how you sent Ray to help me in such a state," I asked as I kept working on thick creepers that had Silas in their hold.

"I can see everything from here, Elena, and it breaks me to see you sad and also how you held yourself up and protected the pack in my absence," Silas added. My eyes turned up to be moist with his words.

"You still didn't tell me how Ray came to help me."

"Ray couldn't stay still when he saw you in pain, so I could use wolf magic."

"What about you, Silas? You like to see me in pain." Silas glowered in response.

"I hated how you foolishly put yourself in danger just to meet me. What if you___" Silas trailed with grief in his eyes.

"You fear losing me. Consider yourself in my shoes when you send a farewell message via Maya. For six months, I felt dead inside, and it was difficult for me to breathe. ___" I trailed off. Silas's other free hand cupped my cheeks, wiping away my tears, and pulled me to kiss him.

"I am sorry, El," he whispered.

Silas's frame was sore, as he couldn't stand with the remaining strength he used to help me kill those rogues. Silas used my help to stand on his frame. "How do we get out of here as I seal the gates and destroy the shrine?" Silas spoke.

The whirlwind in front of me gave me a start, but I sighed with a look of relief. It was Maya's soul floating in the air. Her eyes gleamed with happiness as she looked down at us.

"Alpha's happy to see your mates can reunite together," Maya said.

"Maya, it's good to see you. I am sorry about what happened to you. I freed Letty from prison, and she knows the truth. Letty cried a lot and went to meet her parents to tell them everything. I returned the Pack title, which Silas had taken."

"I know Alpha Elena. I came to help you both." I raised my eyebrows at her.

"Maya, you don't have to do this," Silas said grimly.

"I have to use my power, Alpha Silas. I did a lot of things wrong, and I have the power to be of help this time." Maya said.

"What is going on?" I asked.

"She plans to use her soul to free us from this realm and when she does that, her soul will perish and never be reincarnated," Silas explained. I gasped.

"Maya, you were not in wrong. Why are you sacrificing yourself? We can't find another way."

"There is no way out, El. I have been trying to find the loopholes, and I knew it was not possible to get out of this place. Until some stay back to keep the seal intact." Silas added.

"Please let me be the one to correct the mistakes and let me be free. I don't want to stay stuck in this place." Maya begged. I nodded with sadness, but for Maya, it was her freedom, and she didn't worry about the cost she had to pay.

Maya shut her eyes, and the whirlwind surrounding Silas and me and her eyes opened up to see us back to our Pack. Silas inhaled the fresher air, and I sighed in relief that Silas was standing next to me. I asked the doctors to tend to Silas's wounds, which were still not healed, and I was worried. Yuri, Mac, and Emily rushed to see Silas; their eyes gleamed with happiness and tears.

"Thank you for bringing me home, El." Silas kissed me.
