Opening up to Elena

Elena - POV

I sat on the couch as Drake changed into another costume, which took forever. Since his dragon shifter secret got out, I think he's hiding from me. Is it possible that the Dragon narrative Drake told me about is based on actual events rather than fiction? I need to ask him. I needed to know more about this magical thing surrounding me, threatening to blow my brains out.

I tried to brush aside the headache that started reappearing at the same time that I felt disoriented when Silas transformed into a wolf. Could it be that my body cannot cope with magic, and I sense this way? I can't help but wonder why these mythical beings are following me; after all, I'm just a human.

"Would you want anything to drink?" Drake inquired as he emerged from the house in his casual dress, his sculpted arms and chest abs visible through his well-fitted t-shirt. I try not to gaze at him like a pervert. He poured the drink for him without looking at me.

"No, I require the entire truth." Drake paused in his pouring and smiled remorsefully at me. Drake answered the door after hearing a knock. I see Silas and Yuri are dressed differently than at the Met Gala.

"You asked for us," Yuri said warily. I stood in my seat.

"I need to know what the heck is going on around me. I can't handle any more secrets coming to light and shattering my sanity." A throbbing head made me hiss.

"Shit, she can't take magic," Silas murmured, coming next to me as Drake approached me from the opposite end.

"I'm OK. It's nothing more than a headache." I tried to distance myself from Silas and Drake, and I sat back down on the couch.

"You don't look well," Yuri added with concern.

"Instead of being concerned about me, how about you say the truth?" I snarled, but quickly regretted snapping at them. Can you blame me? These people keep concealing items and frightening the crap out of me now and then. I have issues trying to get my health back on track.

"Who will go first and inform Elena what's going on?" Yuri addressed her inquiry to Drake and Silas.

"Who will go first and inform Elena what's going on?" Yuri addressed his inquiry to Drake and Silas.

"She is my bride-to-be," Drake hissed.

"What?" I stared at Drake, surprised. Drake is staring at Silas, and Silas is staring back.

"You tell me, Yuri, these youngsters are busy staring." Yuri laughed at my sarcasm.

"First, here is the contract with Letty as Fake Luna. She's planning to harm my pack." Silas brought up the contract that Letty had signed to become the impersonating Luna, and I learned she had lied about everything she said. Silas informed me that Yuri's mother was being kept as a hostage to keep Yuri quiet and to relate to me more deeply.

Silas told me about Jake's Dark Angel, an exiled angel sent to earth as a punishment for their transgressions. Jake is one of them.

Yuri showed me the videotape of when I was bound in a chair with Lyra and how awful it was to witness the torment I had gone through. Tears of grief slowly trickled down my cheeks as memories of that day resurfaced. Jake, that jerk, murdered my close family member Lyra, and she died shielding me from Jake's goons. The video shows Jake's henchman being stopped by Jake before they can deliver a decisive blow to murder me.

"What exactly is the paradise key, they kept asking?" I inquired, having recovered from my ugly tears. Drake hands me a cup of hot coffee.

"We're still not sure. I figured you'd be aware of this," Silas said.

"I am simply a human being; how am I supposed to know such magical things?"

"I believe you have some magical abilities. Your mother begged my father to safeguard you from some unknown powers until you reach the age of eighteen, and my father agreed."

"Let me guess, your father asked my hand to marry you," I remarked. Drake nodded. "When you narrated the story of the dragon king and his son, I'm going to presume it's your backstory." Silas's eyes filled with envy as he gazed back and forth between Drake and me, unable to comprehend the lack of knowledge.

"Yes," Drake said quietly, implying that he, too, had feelings for me. I don't want to ask directly because Silas is already burning holes at Drake. I don't want to heighten the stress any further.

"Did you know why my mum needed to protect me? Wait, I recall my mother's letter from the orphanage that I had with me. She also emphasized the unknown danger." I muttered.

"I'm not sure who your mother requested protection from because it was a private matter between my father and your mother. I can't learn from my father since he is no longer alive." Hearing Drake's remarks, I moaned in irritation. It was a dead end again without knowing the mystery's cause.

"Did you capture Jake, or did he pass away?" I asked cautiously.

"He flees once more. It's because of Letty's intertwining; otherwise, he may be dead for good." Hissed Yuri. I turned to look at her in confusion; when Yuri observed the horror on my face, she informed me that Silas had captured Jake and locked him away in the dungeons because he had assaulted her and fled.

"Alpha, we made a mistake. Did you recognize yourself in the video, Elena? You recovered quickly after those people left?" Yuri continued. Drake and Silas seem startled. So was mine, and when we watched the videotape, we saw Jake do some magic on me and leave, but my bruise healed faster.

"Wait, Jake healed me since my bleeding bruise healed after he did magic on me," I added.

"It makes little sense. Why would Jake cure you when he intends to torment you?" Drake continued.

"However, Elena has a valid point. Jake's magic is removing Elena's memories as much as mending her." Yuri added, and Silas scrutinized the photograph to assess the color hue that encompassed my frame.

"Yuri is correct. This magical spell casts both spells, so we're still in the dark about what Jake wants and Elena's true identity." Silas expressed his disappointment.

Drake and Yuri were asleep on the sofa while I stood on the balcony, staring into the distance and pondering about my life. Silas sat far away from me. He seemed to be in his thoughts, and when he caught my sight, I quickly diverted it. I felt horrible about screaming at Silas and saying useless things to him when all he said was the truth about Letty.

I doubted Silas, believing he was lying to me like others, and it's difficult to rebuild trust when it's been destroyed so many times. Also, because this mating relationship is so powerful, I respond like an amateur, and my jealousy strengthens as I watch Silas with other women. Is it love or merely a rebound or a mate bond?

I don't know what I need. My illness is an important issue. Even when I think of dating, I recall the doctor's comments. I only hope Dr. Rudolf heals me with this medication, and I pray to God to heal me.

"Elena." The sound of Silas' voice startled me. "I apologize for startling you, but I have a question." I nodded in agreement.

"Remember when Emma brought you to Moonflower church?"

"I do. Emma claimed it was a holy site in Wolf Land."

"Well, to be honest, it was to see whether you were a late shifter." I sighed in response to his comments. I saw Silas's regret. "Did you hear anything in your head?"

"I did indeed hear someone's weak voice, and then I had a strong headache and a peculiar sensation all over my body, followed by dizziness," I recalled. Silas' eyes bulged.
