Trinity
Silas - POV
"Can you tell me what the voice said?" I inquired.
"I don't recall."
"Silas, take her back to the Moonflower Chapel. What if she meets her wolf?" Ray's voice carried desperation.
"No, we can't do it. Moonflower magic has adverse side effects if used more than once on a non-shifter."
"Why are you asking this, Silas? Does it indicate I'm a shifter?" As her curiosity gleamed, Elena questioned.
"Not sure." Elena's curious face gleamed, replaced by weariness, as we had no answers. Janice steps in with Bruno, who appears to be overjoyed to meet Elena.
"That cretin! Stay away from my mate." As Elena took Bruno in her arms, Ray hissed at Bruno, who looked smugly at us.
"My master adores me and lavishes me with embraces. To put it bluntly, Ray, she was terrified of you. What a tragic tale," Bruno murmured, prodding Ray even more. I had to suppress Ray from coming to the surface. Ray cursed Bruno.
"Shut it, pup, if you want to live." I hissed, and Bruno cowered in Elena's arms.
An irritated Yuri opened his eyes to the sound of Bruno's barking. Drake wakes up.
"Alpha, we should get going and meet Emily and Letty," Yuri said. I was reluctant to leave Dragon alone with my mate. This guy is doing everything he can to earn Elena's love.
"Alpha, should I bring Emily here to discuss Jake's whereabouts?" Yuri Mind links. I nodded in approval.
"Also, chat with Letty and inform me of her next schemes." Yuri nodded.
"Ms. Hayes, you went to New York?" Janice asked as Elena caressed Bruno's fur. Ray growled in my head with envy.
"I will depart in an hour," Elena stated calmly, attempting to disguise her grief.
While we were standing on the balcony away from Elena and Janice, "How come you're wagging your tail around Elena when she doesn't want you there?" Drake said.
"Drake, you appear insecure about my presence. Worried that you can never gain Elena's love because Elena is leaning her affection towards me." Drake is trying to disguise the frown on his face, and his expression tells me he wants me to get out of the way.
"How will Elena's identity be resolved?" Drake quickly changes the subject as we know Elena is close by; it seems he is attempting to portray himself as a caring individual.
"Don't fret; I'm here to assist her, Drake. I believe you should apologize, Elena. Did you conceal your genuine identity?" Drake cast a glare at me.
"Drake, Silas," Elena said as she emerged from her position, eavesdropping on us. Drake couldn't lash out at me as he saw Elena.
"I'll make a stop in New York first. You can go to Minnesota. I'll catch up with you guys later."
"I'll accompany you, Elena. I can't put you in danger again while Jake is still around." For a few seconds, her irises fixed on mine. I could feel my heart skip a beat at her gaze.
"Would you mind if I also joined you?" Drake spoke out, shattering the trance as Elena nodded in agreement with Drake. This nasty dragon is constantly getting on my nerves. Drake's arrogant expression made me want to smash his jaw. Janice had gone out with Bruno to prepare Elena's bag for departure.
"How long will you take, Yuri? I want Emily to meet Elena." I linked.
"I'll be there in five minutes," said Yuri. Emily and Yuri entered the room. Elena was looking at Emily with curiosity; Drake was frowning when he noticed Emily.
"I despise witches. The witches reek." Drake murmured under his breath.
"Alpha, I'm sorry I couldn't help you get Jake," Emily apologized gently. This witch is charming, unlike the witches I have met, who are primarily nasty.
"It's okay. We can find him again with your help, but first I'd like you to meet Elena Hayes. She is my companion." Emily's gaze shifted to Elena.
"Emily is a witch who is assisting in Jake's capture."
"Oh! Emily, it's a pleasure to meet you." Elena extended her hand, and Emily shook it, pausing in surprise. As Emily glanced at Elena, it enchanted her to the point of confusion. Elena's unease at Emily's scrutiny was palpable.
"Let go of Elena, Emily," I said. Emily remained still. Yuri loosened Emily's grasp.
Elena rubbed her wrists while looking frightened. I wanted to comfort her by reaching out to her, but I remembered Elena's comments and the way she reacted to me, so I pulled my hand back to myself.
Elena even took a step back when Drake sought to soothe her. Elena's anguish from Jake's assault is still raw. Jake, you'll pay for your misdeeds shortly.
"What the heck is going on with you, Emily?" I snarled.
While it still lost her in the enchantment's haze, she said, "She is not human, Alpha."
"What exactly do you mean?" Drake inquired.
"She is a combination of three abilities," Emily whispered. All three of us, including Elena, exchanged puzzled glances with Emily.
"The trinity hybrid," Emily stated once again.
"Snap out of the enchantment, Emily, and explain to us," I said, but it was pointless because she seemed to see something, or the magic must have held her back.
"Should I knock her out?" Elena raised an eyebrow in response to Yuri's offer.
"Why do you want to hit her?" Elena inquired, her voice anxious.
"There's no need to hit Emily, Yuri. We don't want her to sleep any longer." I snarled. Yuri smiled guiltily.
"How will you bring this statue-like witch back to life?" Drake inquired. Yuri laughed; I saw Elena muffling her giggle.
"Are you not the Dragon King? Are you unable to employ magic?" Yuri inquired.
"I am a dragon, not a warlock or a mage," Drake growled.
"What a squandered Dragon King is, our Alpha can also wield magic," Yuri laughed.
"You want to see the power, you grungy wolf. I'll show you. I can roast you with fire breath like a pig." Drake snarled.
I used lighting wizardry to strike Emily. Elena let out a sharp gasp. Yuri and Drake stopped bickering, watching Emily's hair standing up like a line antenna as she spewed black smoke out of her lips.
"Alpha, you're funny." Yuri laughed, and Emily gave me a dirty look.
"I'm sorry, Emily, but you appear to be in a magical haze." Emily gave me an annoyed look. Emily and Drake Yuri were trying their best to hide their glee.
"Yuri, stop giggling and go get some water." I snarled. Emily took the water from Yuri and sat on the couch.
"What did you say earlier? I am Hybrid Trinity." Elena inquired, seeing Emily comfortably seated.
"I sense three kinds of power: wolf power, heavenly power, and dragon power. I've never encountered a legendary creature with so much strength in such a small package," Emily elaborated. My mate was the strongest of all of them.
"Are you certain you can detect magic in my body? My physical being cannot even withstand magic if Silas changes or anybody else uses magic. Why am I dizzy?" Elena murmured, her face pale and her voice unsure.
"I've been a witch for ten decades. I sense magic in you, young woman." Emily's voice was strained with irritation.
"I apologize. I didn't want to insult you, Ms. Emily." Elena apologized promptly. Emily accepted with a faint smile.
"Then why is it that Elena cannot perceive her powers or is weak to magic, Emily? Nobody else can detect, can sense magic in Elena other than you." Emily looked at me and, lost in her thoughts, there was a knock on the door. Janice, on the other side of the door.
"We have to depart, but can we continue this topic later?" Elena said, and we all nodded.
"Emily, I need you to stay in the pack, and I'm hoping you can find out the answer. Can you also discover an antidote to hibiscus poison?" I said to Emily as she stepped out of the room. I found out the poison thanks to Mac, who found out and captured the assassin, but he died on the spot from the poison.
"Did you meet Letty, Yuri?" I asked as we walked to leave the Inn after the backpack was ready.
"No, I did not meet. I knocked on her door, but then I confirmed the staff as they informed me that Letty had checked out of the hotel." Yuri added concern.
"Don't worry, Emily will discover the antidote and deliver it to me so you can save your mother. I'll monitor Letty," I said. Yuri nods, her expression relieved. As I was leaving with Elena, I called Letty to tell her to travel back to Minnesota. The call went to voice mail. Stranger Letty let none of my phone calls go to voice mail. I texted her.
"I am in trouble, Silas; please assist me." Before I could get in my car and drive away, Letty sent me a text message that brought me to a standstill.
"Is everything okay, Silas?" Elena inquired.
"Letty is in danger," I muttered.
"We should check on her," Elena said, panicked. I texted Letty back and waited, but she did not respond. I tried phoning her number, which is not inaccessible. What the hell is Letty up to this time?
