Dragon's Tale

Elena - POV

Drake and I sat together the whole journey to Canada. Drake has a knack for making people happy, and his quips were a big hit with the team. There was a sense of lightness in the air, and with it came a lift in my spirits. I tried not to dwell on Silas' admission, but it kept popping into my head. It was still difficult to accept that the shifter exists and is not a myth. I also wonder what else exists in the world.

"Are you all right?" Drake inquired. I gave a brief nod and a grin to cover up my worried look.

"Hey, I have the next script idea you'd like to hear," Drake said, as I surprisedly raised an eyebrow at him.

"You're also a writer. You have skill." I chimed in enthusiastically.

"Hey, I'm no writer, just an idea if you enjoy the narrative. I can hire a scriptwriter to work on it."

"I'm all ears," I said.

"This fictitious narrative is fine. The Dragons had all stayed and formed clans. Still, some of them were greedy for power, leading them down the wrong path and opting for magic, which ruined all the peace and prosperity of the clan, leaving just the last surviving King to lose his queen because of the magical side effects. Still, the king and his only son could withstand the side effects. The Dragon King had died in his grief for his queen without caring for the infant, who grew lonely. One day, his father leaves him a note, apologizing and requesting that he fulfill his last wish."

"What is your final wish?" The way he told the tale pulled me in. Drake's eyes locked on mine with such ferocity that I felt a delightful shudder race through my body.

"The wish is to meet the promised bride and only marry if you believe she is the one for you. The Dragon King's wish."

"So the Son obeyed the Dragon's King's command."

"Yes, he did what his father had asked and encoded the location of the bride-to-be, and when Son met the promised bride-to-be, he immediately fell in love with her."

"Does that make her the dragon?" I inquired, curious.

"I couldn't figure it out yet, but I can say she is something special and a strong woman who compliments herself and stands stronger against all odds," Drake said proudly.

"I'd like to know more about this story." It's fascinating. It was fantastic." Drake smiles and nods. I gazed out the window and saw the magnificent skyline.

Upon touching down at the airport, I took precautions to ensure that my media and paparazzi would not recognize me, but my efforts were in vain. I couldn't break, could I? Drake quickly directed me to an alternative route.

"What are we doing?"

"You wanted to go incognito, so I thought I'd take you from the other existence," Drake explained, and I noticed the car waiting for us.

"Janice would be so worried if she found out you brought me along; did you tell her?" I inquired. Drake gave the nod.

"You trust Janice too much; isn't she just a secretary?" Drake inquired, which perplexed me.

"What exactly does that mean?"

"Nothing; I'm just saying you always have your guards around people, including Silas and me."

"Isn't it clear Janice has been with me for longer than you two have been in my life?" I met Janice three years ago. She never offered me cause to be skeptical of her." Drake listens to be silent as if something is going on in his thoughts. "Why did you bring Janice up so suddenly?" Did Janice give you any reason to be suspicious of her?"

"I asked, Don't mind me," Drake explained. Seeing the momentum of a moving automobile is a pleasant sight. The reason I enjoy my job. I can travel the world and rarely stay in one area for long.

When I entered my hotel, a concerned Janice greeted me. "Where did you go? I was terrified?"

"Did Drake tell you I was going with him?" Janice gave me a guilty smile as she looked at Drake.

"You're lying to me," I shouted.

"Hey, I forgot to text her," Drake defended himself. I shook my head as I walked in. People were talking amongst themselves as they stared at me. The drama is like a shadow that follows me around.

"So, what's up, Janice?" I inquired. We three stood in a secluded corner.

"The Ted Lawrence story stole Jake's reward for spreading phony news. Also, our lawyer, Saif, had Ted pay for the crime of defaming you." Janice exclaimed while beaming with pride.

Drake's cheeks were furious with emotion, but when he noticed my focus on him, he tried to divert the subject. I entered my room, puzzled by how such news so secretively came to light. I do not doubt that Jake has used every available resource to keep this a secret. He has no loose ends. I can see through Jake's ploys.

I phoned the officer looking for Lyra, but they found no one matching the description. As the days grow darker, I miss you, Lyra, for your kindness, care, and warmth. I'm afraid of learning new things about life, and my illness is getting to me.

I attempt to sleep, but Silas' sad-looking eyes haunt me when I mention separation from... I don't recall what Silas said. Oh, I forgot he stated we were fated to be friends. It's unusual to hear that term, yet it warms my heart.

After having no sleep all night because of bizarre visions in which I see Lyra severely assaulted by unknown persons, her screams terrify me. I had to meet with the designers today for the Met gala dress.

I entered the brand boutique sponsoring me and saw Letty and Yuri standing next to her as if she was defending her, but when she saw me, she seemed surprised.

"What a surprise, Elena. I'm coming to get the dress for myself. I am overjoyed because Silas proposed to me yesterday." Letty replied with a grin of satisfaction, and Yuri seemed as surprised as I was. Silas, you're a sick bastard trying to toy with me.
