Moonflower chapel

Silas - POV

I introduced Elena to the Pack elders as the county of our town. Emma warmly welcomed Elena, unlike Henry, who looked at her hostile gaze, but when he saw my sharp eyes on him, he masked his emotions quickly.

“Elena, how about giving you a tour of our town after you meet Yuri?” Emma asked. Elena looked a little puzzled as she looked at me in question, and I nodded my head to accept Emma’s request. I know why Elena looked at me in question because earlier, I ensured Elena felt unwelcomed and immediately escorted her out of my pack.

After Emma and Henry left, Mac, I, and Elena walked to the infirmary. Mac informed me doctors had released Letty from the infirmary and rested at home, and Yuri gained consciousness. Still, Mac also mentioned that Yuri doesn’t recall who attacked their vehicle.

“Oh, my, what a surprise, Elena,” Yuri spoke, as her mother fed her food as she had broken her arms, which should have healed sooner because of her wolf powers.

“Of course, I will come to see my friend. How are you, by the way?” Elena asked softly as Elena pulled a chair to the seat next to Yuri’s bed. I saw Gabrielle subtly look at Elena. Yuri and Elena kept talking about Hollywood, which bored me to death. Still, on the bright side, the conversation of Hollywood gossip helped divert Yuri and Gabrielle from their sulking mood to a cheery and curious one. As I stood, seeing Elena trying to shift the conversation smoothly, even Gabrielle spoke to Elena with interest; she never interacted with anyone except Emma in the pack.

“Alpha, should we take Elena's mansion first? Before taking her to Moonflower chapel, she must drink the herb first to help unlock her magic if she is a late shifter.” Mac’s mind linked to me.

“I am not sure it feels bad. You know we are technically drugging Elena to send her to this Moonflower chapel, which can give her pain as she exposes her to moon magic,” I mind-linked.

“Alpha, won’t it be good for Elena and us? We learn her true identity,” I sighed as Mac’s words were valid. We can’t avoid this situation at all.

“Elena, let us leave,” I said. Elena looked at me and nodded as she said farewell to Yuri and Gabrielle. We three stepped out and met Emma, who was waiting for our arrival. Elena’s small hand settled on my arm. I looked at her in question.

“Are you sure that you want me to stick around?” Elena asked, unsure.

“Of course, I don’t have a problem, Elena.”

“What made your mind change?” Elena asked. I was quiet, not sure how to answer her. It shouldn’t make her more suspicious of me.

“Emma, take Elena and make sure you give her the herb,” I mind-linked. Elena couldn’t ask me more questions, and I didn’t have to answer her.

“Mac, did you find anything in this Jake guy?”

“Oh yes, I did; I found him speaking to Beta Luke, Blood pack,”

“What, Luke?” Mac showed me the picture of Luke and Jake speaking together.

“I am not sure if Alpha Theo of the Blood pack is aware of his beta speaking with Jake, a human,” Mac added.

“I will speak with Theo and Luke after we get free from Elena’s identity test,” I said anxiously and waited for Emma to come to the chapel. Mac gave me a subtly concerned look. He could feel my anxious sighs now and then.

Henry walked to the chapel with a stoic gaze. Elena and Emma walked with a smile and stopped talking as they noticed our presence. I subtly looked at Elena, trying to see if she was doing fine after the herb drink Emma gave her.

“Elena, this last place I want to show you is a chapel, and we pray to the moon goddess,” Emma said. Elena looked at Emma with interest and followed her, suspecting nothing suspicious.

“Alpha, let us move to the inside,” Henry said gruffly, and we did. We three stood in a different chamber without Elena and Emma seeing us. Emma made sure she stood under the white moonflower rays, a powerful light that healed many sick wolves and helped many late shifters meet their wolf.

As Emma was next to her, Elena stood under the light for a few minutes. If Elena is in pain, she could help her calm down with her healing magic. We couldn’t see the Ray of Moonflower change and tell us what Elena is.

Waiting for a few more minutes, Elena hissed in pain a little, and the light remained the same. Emma ensured Elena was fine as they both stepped out of the Moonflower chapel.

“Elena is Human Alpha,” Henry said, as if he was relieved by that information, or I just assumed. I ignored Henry and walked out feeling sad that our mate was human, and it left me with one option: let her go so she can live a peaceful life with someone, and what about me?

“We will have to find another she-wolf,” Ray spoke with a hurtful voice. We both knew Elena would suffer if we mated her and could ruin her life, but the thought of leaving her didn’t sit right with me. I wonder how the moon goddess fated me with a fragile human and put me in such a state. Emma and Henry left, and Mac went to his home.

“Hey Silas, Wolf Land is a peaceful and wonderful place,” Elena said with a smile, and I smiled at her, hiding my pain.

“Do you want to stay for dinner?” I asked. She nodded. I looked at Elena. She looked more relaxed here than in the human world. Elena is always on her guard.

“Elena, do you recall what happened to you?” I paused at first, gauging her reaction. She looked a little puzzled, but she realized I was asking her about how she landed unconscious in the warehouse.

“It is strange how hard I try to remember what happened to me in those blank moments,” Elena said dejectedly. Everything is getting weird. Yuri doesn’t recall, nor does Letty remember who the attacker was, nor does Elena remember who abducted her. Could it be Jake behind all this or someone else? This Drake guy is also suspicious as he pops in front of Elena suddenly at the same time.

“Hope you like the food,” I asked. She nods her head.

“Silas, Can I meet Yuri before leaving for our Inn?” I nodded my head, and she smiled a little. I walked her back to the Infirmary. Elena didn’t speak at all. She was quiet, as Elena looked as if lost in her thoughts.

“Elena, we are here,” I said. She broke out of her stupor. I waited for her outside as she went to speak with Yuri. Through my shifter ears, I could hear Elena and Yuri talking. I had planned to meet the Blood Pack Alpha Theo and Beta Luke to ask what they knew about Jake.

Elena seemed to be lost as we drove back. Could it be she felt something in The Moonflower Chapel?

“You seem to zone out. Are you okay?” I asked. Elena looked outside of the moving car.

“I am fine, don’t worry, just a little tense about work,” Elena said. I could read her expression as she was hiding her face from me. “But it was a pleasant day today,” Elena smiled genuinely. I felt relief at her smile, but something felt amiss, as if she was hiding her pain. Or was it only my assumption?

“You are worried about the shooting. This isn’t your first time working,” I asked.

“I know it isn’t my first time, but whenever there is a first shooting day, I feel the jitters the day before,” Elena said; her face held embarrassment for seconds before it turned normal. Accidentally, my hand rested on hers, and she looked at me with red cheeks. The simple touch melted me, and my thoughts ran wild again, which I pushed back.

“I think you will be amazing. Just take a deep breath and try to think of pleasant moments,” I said. Elena gave me a slight sadness and looked again outside the car’s window.

After dropping Elena off, it was late already, and I knew Theo wouldn’t like my late visit, but I didn’t give a shit about it anymore. I passed through the Drake door, came to a halt, and knocked before thinking straight.

“You came to meet me after all, Alpha,” Drake said as he led me into his room.

“What is your goal, Drake?” I hissed.

“Easy Alpha. I don’t like people who speak with Voice Louder,” Drake made a drink for us.

“I need to know why you are here, Drake, and what are you up to?” I glared at him. He sighed at me.

“I don’t blame you, Alpha. Elena is your mate.” Drake said as he handed me the drink, which I ignored. Drake sighed. “I am here to get my promise, mate.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Not your business to know. I asked you why I am here,” Drake sipped his whiskey as he stared at me.

“You want me to believe you, Drake?”

“I don’t care if you believe it, Alpha.”

“How the hell do you know Elena is my mate?” I grabbed him by the collar and pushed him against the wall.

“The dragon can see through. The mate links.” Drake said; through their eyes, the color changed, and I could feel his Dragon’s surface, just like a wolf surfaced.

“Why are you next to Elena if you know she is my mate and what is your purpose, Drake? Speak,” He shoved me off him as he snarled.

“I don’t want to create chaos, Silas. I suggest you walk out before you get burned by my dragon,” Drake hissed.

A knock made her animals retreat because we knew Elena stood on another side of the door, and it was hard to calm down when I was so close to pushing Drake to speak the truth.

“Elena, look, the producer joined me for drinks and would want to,” Drake said with a calm smile, and Elena looked at me and then at Drake.

“No, I am just here to give you the script. Be on time.” Elena said as she left with no further words. I could see Drake holding a flicker of sad gleam as he stared at Elena's back, but he recovered quickly from the emotion as if it had never appeared.

“You better leave Silas; I won’t tell you anything either,” Drake said. I stepped out of the room because I knew Drake was not fucking around and wouldn’t speak even if I struck him.

Drake is looking for the promised bride, but who would that be? I am sure it’s not Elena, as she is human. Then who and why he plans to stick next to Elena?

I drove back to meet Theo and Luke without informing them of my arrival. What if they are with Jake and trying to harm Elena? I couldn’t breathe as so many thoughts surfaced in my memory, and I remembered something suddenly before I left for a business trip. Maya acted slightly distant, but she said she was okay. I believed her and went to her, and next, when I saw her corpse. I pulled over, not able to drive.

“Fuck this mystery,” I hissed, not getting anywhere and stuck with pieces of the puzzle. I think they relate somehow to the past and present, and I need to figure it out.

Standing at the foot of the Blood Pack, the guards looked at me, alarmed at my presence, as they howled their Alpha and Beta. They led me to the Mansion of Theo, where I met Theo, who looked at me calmly but held a puzzle in my presence.
