Chapter 124
After the doctor Carlos had called over check her up, he shook hands with Carlos and left, it was already morning now, but Triffany was still fast asleep, could be the effect of the drip and injection used to calm her down.
He sat next to her and stare at her delicate face, she was now peaceful in her sleep and was no longer frowning or in tears, Carlos couldn't help but wonder what she dreamt of this time.
His phone rang and he got up to answer it, walking over to the balcony. "Hello, Blake."
"Carlos, I heard you asked us to stop the process for now, what is wrong?" Blake asked from the other side of the line. "Are you already having a change of heart?"
Carlos runs his hands through his hair and look at Triffany that was still asleep. "No Blake, I feel I shouldn't act rashly, since I still don't know all the details yet, the process is just on freeze for now, everything should go back to normal, I will let you know if you should unfreeze it or stop totally."
"Carlos, we are so close to winning the heart of some board of directors here, so close to end all this."
"After that, what next." Carlos said and Blake was a bit silent. "I don't want to lose myself to all this, Triffany doesn't even have any idea of what am doing, how will she feel if Jimmy lose two things because of her, Triffany will never forgive me, if I do this."
"What do you mean Carlos?" Blake was confused.
Carlos look at Triffany once again, she was blaming herself for an accident she didn't cause, what will she do if she finds out he was trying to take over Jimmy's company too, just to protect her.
It will all be a mess, and whereas Garrett had told him to think before he act, this was why he will have to do more finding in all this before doing any other thing.
"Just do what I say Blake, I will explain with more details later." He hung up and walked back into the room.
"Don't get up." Carlos told Triffany who had just woken up and was trying to get up, he sat next to her and put some pillow in her back when she insisted to sit up.
Triffany looked at her hands that was connected to a drip, she then look at Carlos for answers. "You were running fever, so I called the doctor." Carlos held her other hand.
"I am fine now." Triffany look into his eyes, but Carlos shook his head.
"No you are not, the doctor said you need to rest, and also, you shouldn't stress yourself, by doing so you maybe endangering the child." Carlos told her softly.
"You have to lay down, I will ask someone to bring your breakfast up here, you also need to eat." Carlos was about to stand up, but Triffany held his hands, he look at her.
"I am so sorry Carlos." Carlos stare into her eyes. "I am sorry to be putting the child in danger, sorry that I have to make things hard for you too."
"No, you aren't making anything hard for me, what do you think marriage is, what do you think a couple is? We have to be strong for each other no matter what." He held her cheek with his two hands and flashed her a smile.
"Let's only think of our baby and be happy for each other." Carlos phone rang and he look a the caller ID.
"Take it." Triffany said softly, he look at her face and she gave him an assured smile.
Carlos let her cheek and picked up his phone. "Hello Philip." He said and got up, heading over to the balcony.
Triffany leans back on the bed and close her eyes, after last night, after telling Carlos about the incident from three years ago, he had only told her it was not her fault, she knew she have to find out what he will do next, because at the moment, she knew Carlos will not stay still, neither will Jimmy Billy.
Carlos came back into the room and Triffany open her eyes when she heard his footstep, he put down his phone. "I will go get you something for breakfast."
"Aren’t you going to the company?" Triffany asked him, she knew what he had discussed with Philip must be very important.
"I can't leave you alone at home, not when you are sick." He turn to leave.
"I am okay now, whereas I have Allison here with me, she will keep me company, you have to go, I will be alright before you come back." She told him and Carlos look at her.
"I want to stay by your side Triffany."
"I know I come first for you, but, the company needs you, I will be sad if you lose an investor because of me, or if something you didn't attend to go wrong."
"Why do I think you are trying to push me away Triff?" Carlos asked her and she look up, not understanding where he was coming from. "I am the boss of my company, I can do whatever I want to do, and whereas the file you sent to my email did help our company."
Hearing this made Triffany smile, he must have looked into it, this was what she has started but, not finished because of all that was going in now.
"Now, you should let me stay by your side today." Carlos phone rang again and Triffany look at him with a serious expression.
"You should go." She told him and Carlos looked at the caller ID, this time it was the chairman, his grandfather.
"Are you sure you will be fine on your own?" His eyes were filled with worry and concern, Triffany nod, she does not want to be the reason he miss something important in the company.
"Alright." He kiss her lightly on the forehead and walked into the bathroom to take his bath after taking Ethan Zack call.
