Chapter 60

Carlos sat down in his office smiling as he remembered last night in the bathtub and this morning.

He was in thought without noticing when someone came inside his office. "She's really funny." He grins. "Even when she's pissed up she still looks pretty."

"Sir, sir...sir." felicity who have been standing there for a while now called out. Carlos looked at her and sat up, surprised. "Sir."

"Felicity, why are you here?" He asked sitting upright as he stopped smiling.

"Someone is here to see you. Elvis Daniel." She told him.

"Elvis Daniel?" Carlo looked at her quizzically.

"Yes sir. You made an appointment with him." She remained him.

"That should be by 11:30." He said as he remembered.

"It's 11:30 sir, so he's here," Felicity said and he looked down at his wristwatch.

Carlos looked up. "Let him in."

"Okay, sir." Felicity went out and Elvis Daniel stepped in.

"Elvis Daniel." Carlos stands up and gave him a handshake.

"Carlos Zack." He shook him.

"Have a seat." Carlos nudges him to a seat and joins him, sitting across. Felicity came in with two cups of coffee, she puts them down on the desk and left the office. "Let's go straight to business," Carlos told him.

After Elvis Daniel left, Carlos sank on his chair as he looked at the file left on his desk. "Chixobest company. Where have I heard this name before?"

He thinks for a while. "I'm sure I've heard this company's name before." He closed the file and smile. "Triffany has made me completely forget few things." He said to himself.

"How can she be should in my head and I'm missing her troubles already." He wonders if she is using that her hands now.

He picked up his phone and went through it, contemplating if he should call her or not. He shook his head and puts down his phone. "Carlos focus on work now." He told himself and pressed the extension button and Felicity came in...

"Yes sir." She looked at him.

"Have you heard of Chixobest company?" He asked her.

"Yes sir. It's a publishing company not so far from ours." She told him.

"Gather all the information about the company and place it on my desk by tomorrow."

"Okay, sir."

"And felicity, cancel all my evening schedule." He told her and looked down to finish up the document he was signing.

"But sir, the meeting with the directors is important." Felicity reminds him.

Carlos looked at Felicity and puts down his pen. "It can be shifted. Inform them."

"Sir, yesterday you were to have the meeting but you cancelled it and I had to move it to today evening," Felicity explains, hoping to convince him.

"Felicity, my wife is injured. And which is more important, my wife or the meeting?" He raised his brow as he asked her.

Felicity was surprised to hear him say that, she swallowed and then smiled. "Okay, sir. Then should I move the meeting to this afternoon?" She asked.

Carlos touched the space between his brow and looked up at her, this time with a cold expression. "Maybe you weren't listening. Tell Shanne to prepare the car. I'm going home right now."

"Okay, sir," Felicity said without hesitation since she knew he was getting pissed.

"You may leave now," Carlos told her.

Felicity left his office and went over to her desk." He's acting weird since today. She smiled as she recalls the question he asked her. "Well, his wife is more important."

She wonders if her boyfriend will be more caring to her just like her boss.

Inside the office, Carlos was wondering why he said that. He scoffed as he recalled his question. "Carlos you're losing it." He told himself but he knew deep down that he wants to see her.

He picked up his coat and his phone, putting some files into his briefcase. "I'm responsible for her injury so I should take care of her." He said to himself finding an excuse.

He has to go home and make sure she was not using that hand and he wants to see her pretty face too. He giggles and walked out of the office.

Gabby came out to the sitting room where Triffany sat typing with her hands that were hurting her. "You're trying so hard," Gabby told her as she sat down next to her.

"I need to." Triffany glances up and continues typing.

"It hurts, doesn't it?" Gabby pointed at her hands, Triffany looked at the hands that were banded and shook her head.

"I can manage." Triffany paused as she saw some dark circles on Gabby's face. "Gabby you look pale. Are you alright?"

"I just have a headache. It will be home after I take some pills."

Triffany studies her for a while, she can't just let this go. "Are you bothered by anything? You can tell me."

Gabby shook her head. "You will find me insane if I tell you."

Triffany puts her laptop down on the desk and sat up straight, facing Gabby. "No, I won't."

Gabby exhaled softly. She looked at Triffany with her big eyes. "I'm having nightmares and I wake up crying lately."

"Oh my!" Triffany looked at her with a worried expression. "It must have been so hard for you. You should have told us or come stay upstairs with us."

Gabby laughs it off. "Triffany, I'm no longer a kid and whereas I can't just barge into the room of a married couple because they stay upstairs."

Triffany knew she was right. "Well, you should tell me about your dreams then."

Gabby scratched her hair, she hesitated for a while. "That6the crazy part Triffany." She looked at Triffany who was seriously waiting for her to continue. "You better not hear it."

"Tell me, I can help."

Gabby closed her eyes as if gathering words. "Okay. In my dream today, I saw this who I know and should I say, love." She paused to see Triffany's facial expression.

She was listening attentively so Gabby continued. "In my dream, we were both so happy together, we even had fun at the amusement park and beach but just then another lady showed up.".

"It was his first love and he had to leave me for her. I cried and begged him to stay but he told me he can't, he left my hands and went with her. I cried and woke up crying."

She looked at Triffany again who was still facing her. "I'm insane right?" Gabby asked as she pressed her lips together with a weary expression.

"No Gabby." Triffany shook her head. "You went through all that alone." Triffany held her hands gently.

"That... I have someone I met recently, I like him but Triffany he loves someone else and he told me he had even seen her, his first love and they work at the same company now and he was going to start over with her."

"That's so cruel." Triffany furrowed her brow.

"Which part of it."

"Him telling you all these."

"Gabby shook her head. "It's not his fault. He doesn't know I love him." Gabby heaves a sigh.

"How then are you holding up." Triffany searched her eyes, she had thought she was going through a lot but not aware that Gabby was also going through all these.

"Barely." Gabby chuckled lightly. "I have to find a way to cheer myself."

"Gabby!" Triffany called out worried. She knew what Gabby meant by finding a way to cheer herself.

"I know Triffany. I know. I'm not going to sit around sulking. A few drinks will cheer me up and meeting a new man will get my mind off him.

Gabby got up from the chair and looked down at Triffany's worried face. "Gabby shouldn't be this way." Gabby winks at her. "And please don't tell my brother about what I told you. I hate it when he nags me."

"I won't," Tiffany said softly, she admires Gabby for acting so strong even at this moment.

"Thank you." Gabby flashed her a smile. "I'm going out now. Later." She left the house and a few minutes later Triffany's phone rang.
