Chapter 139

Nick scratched the corner of his hair as he licked his lower lips, rubbed his sweaty palm together and exhaled sharply before pushing the glass door of the office he was working at.

He swallowed hard and his eyes darted to the left corner of the room. It was lunch break and everyone had left already, but only a lady in a white shirt and pale blue straight skirt sat down by her desk making the most astonishing game ever.

Her lips moved, her eyelashes flickered on the screen of the monitor and her fingers clicked on both the keyboard and the mouse.

Nick stood there staring at her for a while, her long hair that falls perfectly behind her back and her feet that dance to the beat of imaginary music, Nick's lips curled up, he swallowed hard as his eyes settled on her lips that moved softly, her rosy flawless cheek, she was like an angel and never in his life did he believe that some lady could sweep him off his feet.

How he met her was a mystery, she has come to the company two weeks ago and was introduced to the other staff by their team leader, he never knew a lady could catch his attention in just a few days, but he couldn't stop himself from staring at her, from admiring her and her love for games made him feel they were compatible.

Nick blew air from his lip, his only interaction with her was just a hello in the morning or when they talk in a meeting, he has not dared to approach her and trying to do that now was making him anxious.

Allison had caught on because he had secretly taken a picture of this lady and couldn't stop himself from staring at it all day when he wasn't at work, she had sneaked in and seen her and she could still remember how he had jumped when she caught him, it all felt like he was committing a sin, and Alison being Allison had told him to go for this lady else she was going to tell Triffany about it and they would take a step for him since he was being not only a stalker but a shy man, she has nagged him about being coy and he has placed a bet with Alison that he was going to approach her, which brought him to this place now.

Nick cleared his throat hoping that the lady would turn but just like he was usually immersed in his games when Triffany calls him out, she was that way too and rather than finding it annoying as Tiffany did, he smiled to himself and thought she was cute.

Nick made his way over to her desk and he placed his hand on the desk and sensing someone next to her, the lady raised her eyes and glanced at Nick.

"Hi." Nick raised his hand and waved at her with a goofy smile and she pursed her lips and her forehead creased as she looked at him as if he was a moron and Nick quickly put his hand down and behind his back when he realised how stupid he was acting. "Umm..." Nick gently touches his hair. "I am Nick---"

"I know who you are." The lady spoke and Nick pressed his lips together, it was stupid that he was introducing himself again to her when they had already done their introduction the first day she came.

"Oh, I see... you are Katy right?"

"Why ask if you already know?" She quickly questioned him rather than replying to the obvious question. "I have been here for two weeks already and you have been sitting over there." She pointed at the desk next to hers. "Why are you acting awkward?" She placed her hand on her chin and pretended to be thinking before turning to Nick who was silently cursing on himself. "Don't tell me you are acting this way because you have a crush on me?" She pointed at herself, her eyes fixed on Nick who lowered his gaze. "It's obvious since I noticed you have been staring at me all the while I work here, to be precise, you have been staring at me for two weeks, are you perhaps a---"

"No, I am not." Nick quickly said thinking she was going to call him a pervert, he has never been in love with anyone in his life apart from his games, in high school, he was just like Tiffany, they had a slogan actually, not to fall in love until graduation, but that wasn't the reason he didn't fall in love, his reason was that he saw no girl that attracted his attention, no girl made his heart race and no lady made him leave gaming even for a day, but this lady did.

Katy's lips paused and she exhaled sharply, she has received love confessions from a lot of guys and also in this company, the first week, she has turned down ten men who had approached her with drinks and presents, but as she looked at Nick, she saw he didn't come along with anything.

Katy exhaled sharply. "If you are here to confess your feelings for me, then you should better leave since I am rejecting you." Katy turned to the monitor again and Nicholas' face fell.

He closed his eyes slowly and immediately opened them. "Why?" He asked in a rush and Katy turned her eyes to glance at him, she raised her eyebrows slightly wondering what he was talking about. "Why would you reject me when I haven't even confessed my feelings to you?" Nick asked, seeing she was curious at his sudden outburst.

Katy smiled softly, it was the first time a guy was acting naive in love. "I am sure you haven't dated anyone right?" She questioned.

"Yes, I haven't." Nick didn't hesitate to say the words.

"Then that rules it out." Nick was confused with the last words.

"Rules what out?"

"The fact that you can't force a girl to fall in love with you when you get rejected, you should walk away and not act this way." Katy shook her head and exhaled sharply as she glanced at the monitor. "Shit, I thought I could make this game while you all away for lunch, but I guess I can't since you showed up." She turned the monitor off and got to her feet to leave.

"What if I can make you fall in love with me?" Nick was not ready to give up, he didn't want to be mocked by Tiffany and his sister and to add to it, he didn't want to lose a person he feels connected with, he was not going to stop now.

Katy halted in her track, it was the first time a man had said these words to her and it was not only funny but impossible.

Katy gently turned around to look at Nick, she didn’t chuckle right now, she only took a good look at the man who had just said a hilarious word to her.

"And, how do you intend to do that?" Katy tilted her head as she waited for him to say the words.

Nick flashed a smile. "Why don't we start with you giving me a chance to make you fall in love with me?" He locked eyes with her and was suddenly finding his boldness again. "Go out on three dates with me, and if by chance you don't fall in love with me, I will walk away." He said seriously and Katy placed her hand on her chin again, contemplating on his words. "Give me the chance to make you love me." A small beam spread through his lips and his eyes twinkled.

Katy exhaled sharply. "Three dates with you and you promise to let me go if I don't fall for you?" Katy asked for confirmation.

Nick took a few steps towards her and he stopped when he was a foot close to her, he put his hand into his pocket and smiled. "Yes, but I assure you, you will definitely fall in love with me." He winked at her and gently touched her shoulder before walking past her and Katy scoffed as she turned and watched him leave, Nick made a happy fist in the air, all he had to do now was make research on how to make her fall in love with him, he was going to make Katy his girlfriend.
