Chapter 73
Triffany woke up the next morning, she looked over to the sleeping Carlos who was on the bed, she signed. She thought she have become more than someone close to him but she is only a stranger to him.
Even her feelings which she opened up to him, still all she was, is a stranger and then what was the bathing together and the sleeping on the same bed together for.
Well truthfully he had been honest to her, he told her that she's like a bathtub and a pillow, and now they are even strangers. She exhaled softly.
She looked at the time. "Oh my god!" She exclaimed. "I'm going to run late." She rushed into the bathroom, brush her teeth, took her bath and dressed up.
She applied light makeup, then she took her system and the things she had worked on.
She looked over at Carlos one last time before stepping out of the room and was greeted by Gabby who just came out of her room.
"Morning Triffany." She got the same smiling face Triffany had seen the day she got back from the honeymoon trip with Carlos.
"Morning, how was your night?" Triffany asked, happy to see Gabby this happy after yesterday's tears.
"Very good." Gabby smiled. "No nightmares." She added.
"I'm glad."
"Going somewhere?" Gabby looked at Triffany who was dressed in a white shirt and black straight skirt, looking all business-like, and with her bag.
"Yes, to work," Triffany told her.
Gabby smiled broadly and gave her a big hug. "Good luck." She knew how much Triffany want to dress up each morning and go to an office for work and it seems that wish had finally come to pass.
"Thank you, Gabby.."
Gabby looked around. "Where is Carlos?"
"He's still asleep," Tiffany told her.
Gabby closed her eyes and opened them back. "Tsk, he should wake up and tell his wife good luck." She was expecting Carlos to be good to Triffany from now on, but he keeps on disappointing her.
Tiffany smile. "Your word covers for him." She was not even expecting someone who thinks of her as a stranger to tell her good luck.
Gabby held her hand and smile. "You're too good for Carlos." She said seriously and wink her with a smile.
Triffany grins, at least Gabby doesn't see her as a stranger. "I'll take that as a compliment then."
"You wouldn't want to be late, give them your best shot okay?" "Okay." Triffany winks her. "Thanks." With that, she left the house.
The maids prepared and served breakfast, few minutes later Carlos came downstairs. "Morning boss man." Gabby greeted him.
"Hello, tiger." He peeked his sister's cheek. "How was your night?"
"Awesome, let's eat breakfast." They sat down to eat as Carlos looked at his sister.
"Any plans today?"
Gabby shook her head. "No, not really. I'll just stay at home today."
"Then let's go stay at home together, watching movies," Carlos told her with that cute knowing smile.
Gabby looked at her brother surprised. "Why? Aren't you going to work today?" She asked him raising the corner of her brow.
"I have missed the times I spend with my kid. sister." Carlos said this thing to make up for all those times he had been overworking himself and not spending more time with his sister.
Gabby smiled happily. "Then let's have a pool party." This always happens once in a lifetime. "And invite your friends over." She giggles. "What do you say about that?" She looked at her brother expectantly.
Carlos pretends to be contemplating for a while before he flashed her a cute smile. "Okay, let's do that."
Gabby was so happy that she made a little dance with her shoulders. "All right. I'll invite Blake, you invite Eric and Garrett."
Carlos paused and look up at her. "Wait a minute, why are you going to invite Blake yourself?" He raised the corner of his brows. "You're acting suspicious Gabby.
"Well..." Gabby looked down at her meal. "I don't want you going through so much pain or stress inviting all three of them, let me help you with one."
Carlos studied her for a while. "Okay. I hope you're not doing what I'm thinking?"
Gabby rolled her eyes at him. "We are no more in the 90's so stop acting like a detective." She looked up at his face with a frown.
"Okay, fine." Carlos smiled.
Gabby put her hands on her chin. "I wish Triffany was home too."
Carlos paused, he looked at Gabby. "Where is she?"
Gabby looked at her brother because he was unbelievable. "Oh my! Carlos come on..."
Carlos chuckled. "Okay." He narrowed his eyes. "I'm aware she went to work so.."
Gabby shook her head. "Just eat your breakfast, you didn't even wish her good luck." She frowned, after all Triffany had done yesterday he was still acting like a jerk."You should change Carlos, and for good."
Carlos sips his tea. "The tea tastes delicious." He smiles.
Gabby shook her head, she knows her brother was trying to change the topic, he was unbelievable. "Changing the topic again." She just focused on her breakfast, knowing that whenever he acts this way, it means he was no longer interested in the topic.
Carlos Zack mansion was lively that afternoon as his friends came over and they decorated the poolside for the pool party.
Gabby was already wearing her bikini suit and the others were wearing their swim shorts as they drink wine while chatting.
"Carlos." Garrett turned to him.
"Yes."
"Who came up with this idea?" He pointed at the pool party stuff.
Carlos looked at Gabby who was swimming in the pool with Blake and Eric. "Me." He smiles. "I wanted to spend some time with my sister."
He looked at Garrett. "You know, after yesterday's memorial. I need to cheer her up and there she is smiling." He watches Gabby laughing as she threw a ball with Blake and Eric.
"You're a good brother." Garrett smile. "So thoughtful, but you're not a good husband."
"Huh!" Carlos frowned as he turned his face to Garrett. "Why did you say that?"
Garrett seems calm, he had been friends with Carlos since childhood, so he doesn't feel scared talking to him this way. "Look around, Triffany is not here. Don't you feel that something is missing?"
"No." Carlos sip his wine slowly. "Everything is just so perfect." He said nonchalantly and smile as Garrett was confused. "I'm with my sister and friends." He smirks.
"But not your wife..."
"She's probably at work having fun." Carlos cut him off. His brow knitted as he looked at him.
