Chapter 38

Triffany went to her family house. Tanner opened the door and was happy to see her, he gave her a big hug. “Wow, you have grown so big, Tanner.” She looked at him with smiles on her face, it’s been a long time since she had seen him.
Tanner tilt his hair to the side and looked at her all over, she was wearing a yellow floral dress and light makeup, her hair was tied up in a ponytail. “You’ve enhanced your beauty.” They both chuckle.
She scattered his hair playfully. “You’re funny.”
Tanner frowned and glared at her. “Hey miss, men don’t like getting their messed up,”
Triffany scoffed, she looked at her brother who was feeling like a man now. “Wow, he is matured too.” She smiled.
“I have always been matured.” He boasted.
She laughed, folding her arms across her chest. “Who do you think fixed your diapers?”
Tanner’s face turned red. “That’s embarrassing.”
“Got you there!” Triffany smiled victoriously. She looked around the house it was unnecessary quiet. “Where are mom and dad?”
“Mom went to get something, she will be back in thirty minutes and dad went to work,” Tanner told her as they walked into the sitting room.
“Okay. Guess what I got for you?” Triffany looked at him with a smile on her lips.
“Chocolate!” He exclaimed happily as Triffany hands him a box of chocolate. “Thank you.”
“I told you I will buy tons of it for you.” Triffany watched him take a bite of the chocolate.
“Your husband is wealthy, that’s the reason.”
Triffany hits his head gently. “This is my money.” She glared at him.
Tanner looked at her with a surprising look. “Have you gotten a job?”
“Yes.”
“Liar.” He was not going to believe her.
“You don’t believe me?” She frowned.
“I don’t,” Tanner said honestly.
Triffany showed him the message she received. “Check this out then.”
Tanner’s eyes grew wide. “Wow, you’re telling the truth.” Triffany gave him the I told you so look. “But,” tanner looked at her. “Why then are you here? You should be at work now.”
Triffany looked at him and shake her head. “Why are you this smart?” Tanner looked at her. She knew he wanted to say something but she stopped him. “Hey, I came because I missed you all and to also tell you all the good news.”
“Okay, I believe you.” He surrendered.
“Tanner, I’m home,” Laura called out as she walked in through the door.
Tanner put down the chocolate and ran to hug his mom by the door. “Mom guess who’s home?” Laura looked at him in surprise.
“Mom!” Triffany hugged her tightly.”
“Oh! My baby girl.” Laura hugged her. “How have you been?”
“I’m good mom.” Triffany was on the verge of crying, she had missed her mom so much. “Mom I got a job now.”
“That’s awesome.” She looked at her. “I’m happy for you dear.” They both walked into the kitchen where Laura put down the foodstuff she bought.
“Mom, is there food in this house? I’m starving.” Triffany held her belle and looked at her Laura looked at her with a smile. She looked just like a kid now.
“Why not.” Laura opened the fridge for her. “Take anyone you can finish.”
Triffany smiled as she picked her choice, she heats it and then sat on a stool in the kitchen eating. “Mom you always make the best meal.” She lifts her thumb for her mother who chuckled.
Laura drew out another stool and joined her. “Tell me, do you have the job at his company?” Laura asked.
“Hell no.” Triffany looked at her mom with an arched brow. “ I would never stoop that low. He is a Jerk.” Laura hit her daughter's shoulder for calling Carlos a Jerk. “Ouch!”
“He’s your husband now.”
“He’s is not caring at all, we hate each other,” Triffany said softly almost in tears.
Laura looked at her daughter with sympathy, but a mother has to act like a mother. “He is still your husband no matter what.” Triffany scoffed. “Anyways you should start by knowing that.”
“Okay.” Triffany knew nothing she says will make any difference. “Yes, he is my husband fine. I’m’ aware now. Can I eat now?” Triffany said softly, her voice showing the pain she felt in her heart.
“You’re free.” Laura got up to start preparing dinner.
Triffany looked at her mother and smiled a little, she wishes being with Carlos was just a dream but it was not. “Mom, I miss you.” Triffany got up and back hugged Laura.
“I miss you too.” Laura turned around and hugged her more closely.
Gabby sat down drinking close to the swimming pool when Carlos returned home in the evening, he walked over to where she was.
“Welcome brother.” Gabby greeted when she saw him come closer.
“Hi, miss.” He sat close to her.
“You’re acting like a gentleman.” Gabby smiled.
“I am,” Carlos said softly.
“Only to Kelsey.” Gabby corrected him.
Carlos pecked her cheek and sat close to her, he studied her a bit and looked around. “Why are you alone.”
Gabby looked at his surprise at the question. “Who else should I be with?” Carlos was silent, Gabby smile a bit. “Triffany is not home.”
“I didn’t ask of her,” Carlos said nonchalantly.
“She’s the only one I could be with.” Gabby still had that amusing smile on her face.
Carlos raised his brow to look at her. “I don’t know when you started being so fond of that crazy lady.” He had noticed how Gabby has been treating Triffany lately.
“Your wife.” Gabby corrected him but Carlos scoffed at the word.
He took a close look at her and noticed something. “You don’t look bright today water princess.”
“I’m fine.” Gabby looked over at the swimming pool.
“You can tell me what’s bothering you, I might be of help.”
Gabby scoffed. She looked at his face and shake her head. “ This is beyond you.” She looked away.
“I’m serious.”
Gabby turned to him, she crossed her legs, resting her chin on her hands. “You know nothing about relationships.”
This would have been an insult if it had come from someone else mouth, but, since it came from the lips of his sister. “I sense someone broke your heart.”
“Then I’m sure you don’t know me so well, no one could ever break my heart.” She told him with a bold smile, this has been the Gabby they all know.
Carlos exhaled softly. “Then why are you feeling down the cause of relationship stuff, when you should be a professional?”
Gabby smiled and sip her wine slowly. “Brother, I’m fine but I’m not sure you are.” She turned the cards around to Carlos.
He looked at her skeptically. “I’m good.”
“No, you’re not.” She faced him, looking serious. “No married man will overlook his wife and still chase after a relationship that won’t work out cause he’s married. You should start by loving Triffany and let Kelsey go so that she wouldn’t end up hurting more.”
She ignored the look on his face and stand up. “The sooner you listen to my advice the better.”
Carlos scoffed. “Stop saying silly things, you should tell me about your love life so I can help you.”
“A blind man can’t l ad another blind man. Carlos, I appreciate your help me, but fix your relationship first, that is when you can help me.” She flashed him a smile before walking away.
Carlos watched her walk away. “If she can’t share thing with me, she should at least get a friend, then keeping it in all by herself.” He got up and walked inside the house.
