Chapter 144

Nick walked into the company with his head held high, his chest puffed out and with boldness and smiles on his face, he was confident as he walked in, he had stopped by at a beauty store and had groomed himself up.

He was wearing shiny well-polished shoes, a navy blue coat and a matching back button-down shirt and his hair were styled back, he looked just like a totally different person.

He has browsed all night searching for how to make a lady fall in love with him, and he has found out grooming could give him a chance to be looked at or better yet admire by Katy.

Smiles plastered on his face seeing his other female staff and colleagues admiring him as he made his way into the office, some of his male colleagues also turned their head in his direction and one has to ask if there was a special occasion today, but Nick smiled at them and walked past all of them, he located Katy who was clicking on her laptop.

She walked over to her front and sat on the edge of her desk hoping she would look up at him but she didn’t and he gently called out her name and she glanced up at him, she glanced down at him too and paused.

“Nick.” She said softly to confirm he really was the one and he blushed as he touched the corner of his hair.

“I look like a totally different person right?” He placed his hand on his cheek with a grin. “Do you feel yourself falling in love with me little by little?” He questioned and Katy glanced over her shoulder as she noticed the few people staring at her, she turned back at Nick whose eyes were still on her with a goofy smile on his face.

“Nick, can we not do this here, how about a coffee during lunch break?” She asked and Nick grinned so much that his lips almost parted.

“Of course, sure.” He got to his feet and made a happy fist as he walked back to his desk, staring at her with smiles on his face while Katy exhaled softly and let out a sharp breath before turning to focus on what she was working on while Nick kept staring at her with no focus on his job.

During the lunch break, Katy kept her promise and she l with Nick to a nearby coffee shop as they ordered coffee and a sandwich, Nick glanced at it with a smile on his face while she sipped her coffee slowly.

“Umm… Katy, this coffee isn’t included in the three dates of making you fall in love with me right?” Nick asked her with big pupils since the question popped into his head when he was about lifting the coffee cup for a drink.

Katy placed down the coffee cup and looked directly at him. “No, it doesn’t.” She told him softly and Nick’s smile broadened, he was overjoyed right now since he will have to spend more time with her and since she has invited him out first for a coffee together, it means she was interested in him, he did a little research and this matched up. “But I am sorry to say, I won’t be going with you on any dates.”

Her words made Nick pause his lips as he looked up at her with enlarged pupils. “But you promised.” He quickly said not understanding what went wrong a second ago.

“I took you to a place far from the working environment to tell you this since I can see you have not dated anyone but yet have a strong crush on me, but I will love to tell you to drop every feeling you have on me right here since I won’t be staying in this country for so long…”

“You are leaving?” Nick looked at her in confusion. “When are you leaving? We can start something, why are you leaving? Is it because of me?’ Nick questioned quickly but she shook her head and exhaled softly.

“I am leaving the country next month and it’s not because of you Nick, my only reason for coming to this country is to make a game and sign the deal with the gaming company we currently work at, I am not here to stay and I don’t want to prolong your waiting, I don’t want to give you false hope when I will still leave, it isn’t going to be right to break your heart just that way, this is the reason I am saying this to you, let’s not go further with this, you are a good man and I hope you understand and find someone better since I really am not ready to be in a relationship right now,” Katy said all these words while looking into his eyes and Nick couldn’t hold back the tears in his eyes, it was the first time he was crying and for a lady who was no even yet his girlfriend, life and relationship might never be for him, his heart has sunk right before it started swimming, he was not rejected but it felt as if he was and now it has left him shattered.

Katy waited for him to say a word but he never did, she felt sorry, but she couldn’t help it, she just had to be honest about how she felt and that was the only way to do it.

“I am sorry Nick.” She said softly and got to her feet, placing a dollar bill on the table for the drink, she looked at Nick who looked lost. “I will head back to the company first then.” She bowed her head and gently walked away leaving Nick who lowered his head as tears rolled down his cheek.

Tiffany sat down by the garden reading novel, a romance book that just made her remember Carlos Zack over and over again. He had left for the company to attend a meeting, he had told her it was the final strike to achieve what he wanted and she had waved him good luck earlier today before he left.

She has decided to be more understanding, pregnancy hormone could also be the cause of having so many negative thoughts, she was going to love Carlos just as he loves her since all he does show how much she means to him over and over again.

She was going to wait for him to come back and it didn't matter who Adrianna was and if she had a crush on Carlos back in high school, Carlos was her husband and that was all that mattered.

Her cell phone buzzed and she glanced down at it to see Nick’s name flash on her screen, she took the call lifting it to her ear with a smile on her lips as she recalled how he had talked about his crush. “Hey, Nick,” Scarlett called out in her cheerful voice but unlike Nick on the other side of the line, he was quiet as he spoke softly.

“Tiffany, was this the way you felt when it all ended before you even started?” Nick questioned with a hoarse voice and Tiffany read the meaning of his words and realised what had happened. She had rejected him and she was silent as she listened to her cousin brother explain everything to her while he sobbed.

“Will I find another love like her?” He asked after he finished expressing himself and narrating how it all turned out for him.

“Cheer up brother, you will find someone better, someone, who will love you and stay with you as much as you love her and want to be with her, so don’t give up.” She comforted him by sending him a few words. She and Nick were like best friends and no matter how well they argue with each other, they still find comfort in themselves and right now they both understand each other and Nick was silent on the other end, the same as Tiffany.

Carlos returned home with smiles all over his face, he ran over to Tiffany and planted a kiss on her lips and she looked up at the happy man since he had taken her by surprise.

“Okay, you look so happy, can you tell me what is going on?” She asked and Carlos beamed and picked her up as he took her into the room. "Carlos?" Tiffany called out with a smile but he put her on the couch and poured two glasses of red wine and presented it to her as they clicked glasses. "What are we toasting to?" She questioned before sipping the wine.

Carlos sat down next to her. "Well, the Glammaly company has finally struck a deal with Chinese cooperation." Tiffany's eyes dilated since she knew how eager Carlos had been to sign this group and her eyes dilated.

"Oh my god! This is awesome, how did you?" She questioned for the full gist and Carlos had to go on narrating how his classmate from High school has to be I'm the frontline because of old days and has helped him in striking the deal and Carlos never failed to also add that Arianna is married and both she and her husband have helped him in achieving what looks like his greatest goal for Glammaly estate.

Tiffany began to laugh and Carlos, who had just finished explaining how everything turned out for good, blinked in confusion as to what was amusing her.

"Is it funny?" Carlos asked with a hint of a smile and Tiffany turned to him, she had decided to be honest.

"Carlos, I am laughing at myself right now." She chuckled softly and he raised the corner of his brows curiously while she went on explaining to him how she had had those negative thoughts about that lady since she asked and was told Carlos was her crush back in high school, she also told him how sad she had been when he didn't show up early at the hospital and how she imagined him spending time with a lady she knew nothing about.

"Oh, sweet Tiffany." Carlos put down his glass and leaned forward as he also took her glass cup from her hand and placed it on the table. "I am sorry for making my lovely wife have those thoughts, how would I correct my mistakes." He glanced down at her lips and Tiffany beamed, knowing what he was about to do, all was said and all was explained, he was her husband and she gave him a chance to kiss her lips and he lifted her as she chuckled and he took her fo bed to finish what he has started, all to make her realise she is the only one for him.
