Chapter 65

Triffany sat on her couch playing a game with her phone, she got tired and puts the phone aside, today had been a boring day for her.

She looked around the room, it was too big, not to say about the living room and the whole house.

She was alone at home with no place to go, Gabby left early this morning and Allison is at school preparing for exams. Nick now have a job.

She looked at the file in her opened laptop, editing this chapter was what will determine if she would keep the job or not.

She walked to the mirror thinking her life is so pathetic but on second thoughts she poses and smiles. "I'm a pretty girl." She consoles herself with the word.

Carlos came into the room without her notice and saw her posing by the mirror, he folds his hand and leans close to the door.

She stretched out her legs. "I have sexy legs and collar bones." She turned whirled around. "Magical..." She saw Carlos and was startled. "You're...back." She stammered.

Carlos scoffed. "Should I send you a ringing note each time I want to come back?" He asked sarcastically.

He unfolds his hands and walked over to his sofa. Triffany who was embarrassed knowing very well that he had been watching her, walked over to her couch.

"You look silly and horrible posing close that mirror," Carlos added as he took off his tie, making her more embarrassed.

"That's more like you...and more like it." She raised her head. "You know what?" She curled her lips upwards. "I'm getting used to your insults every day."

Carlos, calm as ever, took off his suit jacket. "You think it's an insult?" He went close to her. "No. It's more like a piece of advice. Telling you to change."

"Advice my butt." She rolled her eyes. "If that's your way of advice then you have a low IQ."

Carlos smiled. "I'm not interested in your talks." He unbuttoned his white shirt and took it off. He looked down at Triffany who has her eyes on his body. "Don't stare."

She looked away. "Who's staring?" She left the room.

Carlos smiled, this was more like her. He picked up his towel and walked into the bathroom.

A few minutes later he came downstairs, well dressed. Triffany looked up from her phone. "Are you going somewhere?" He was wearing suit trousers and a white shirt and was looking charming.

"Why do you ask?" His tone was indifferent as he stares down at her.

"Nothing." She looked down on her phone.

"Okay." He was about to leave but suddenly stop. "Do you want to tag along?"

Triffany lifts her eyes. "I better not. I don't want to cause troubles." This was what he always tells her, and she was avoiding his insults.

"Good thing you know." Carlos smile, but Triffany scoffed. "Well...I'm good at fixing your troubles, so I don't mind if you tag along." He put his hand into his pocket. "I'm going for dinner."

Kelsey's face fell. "With Kelsey I guess." She looked down at her phone. "I better give you both your privacy."

Carlos frowned. "I'm going alone this time." Triffany was surprised. "Do you wish to tag along?"

She hesitated for a while before standing up. "Well, getting some air would be nice. Let's go." She walked ahead of him but Carlos pulled her back. "What?"

He scanned her all over with his eyes. "Are you going out like this?"

She looks down at her dress, not seeing anything wrong with it. "Yes, it's good." She lifts her eyes to see his expression. "Isn't it?"

Carlos shook his head. "Where is your style?" He held her hands which was a surprise to her. "Come with me."

He leads her upstairs into their room and then to the room he forbids her from entering.

Triffany has always been curious to know what was in there, what he had prohibited her from. On entering her eyes widens in surprise.

"Why are these here?" She looks at him. "Are you..." she blinks, unable to complete the words. "Why do you have many fancy females dress in here?"

Not only were they pretty, but they also look expensive and it made her wonder why he had them here.

Carlos folds his hands as he watches her admire the clothes. "I bought them to surprise my wife when I get married."

Triffany stopped, she looked up at him. "I guess you weren't expecting it to be me." She looked around the room. It was like an entire boutique was in here

"You bought them for Kelsey." She pointed at the dresses. "I'm sure, all of them are the same size."

"Yes," Carlos said honestly, he is a man who was honest and there was no point lying when the truth is so obvious.

He saw Triffany's expression changed and quickly continued. "They are also your size and I'm not married to Kelsey, but you."

"Whereas she did not see these clothes or tried them on." He went further to say but Triffany's expression didn't change, her heart even sank more.

"It still belongs to Kelsey. You love her and should give it to her." Her voice came out hoarse this time.

"I was not on the page when you bought all these and you even banned me from entering this room." She looked at him with tears in her eyes, no matter how hard she tries to suppress it, she couldn't.

"Triffany..." Carlos tries to explain but she held her hands up and stop him.

"I don't need what belongs to someone else." She walked out of the room, Carlos closed his eyes, putting his hands in the space between his brow.

This wasn't how he wants things to go. He followed her out of the room and saw her going through her wardrobe. "Triffany."

Triffany turned around with tears in her eyes, rolling down her cheek. "I am sorry I spoiled everything. Am sorry I ruined your life. Am sorry for replacing someone so dear to you."

"And am also sorry that am getting offended at that. Am truly sorry that you can't be with the person you love, but it hurts me too." She pointed at herself.

"Knowing that you love someone else, but turning a blind eye to it. Knowing that am married to someone who doesn't seem to love me, someone I can't help but see and always think of."

She placed her hands on her forehead with tears rolling down her cheek uncontrollably. "Carlos am sorry but I don't know why my heart is getting so silly. Am not able to control it anymore."

"I love you." She closed her eyes as she said the words as Carlos looked at her shocked. He never knew that she will love him or even say the words to him.

"Even if you don't." She looked at him with her eyes filled with tears. "I have fallen in love with you already."

She sniffles and wipes her tears with the back of her hands... "But you know what hurts the most? is that you don't love me. All you know and think of is Kelsey." She finished and walked out of the room.

Carlos was still shocked by the confession. His heart felt happy when he heard it. He smiled and then turned to the door.

This was the time to tell her that he doesn't love Kelsey anymore, maybe after saying that to her she would understand.

He came downstairs and saw her trying to make dinner for herself. He rushed over and took the ingredients she was carrying in a tray.

He took her hands. "Hey, you shouldn't carry things with your hand yet. Don't you feel pain?" He looked up at her.

Triffany pulled her hands away from his. "I'm fine. You don't have to act as if you care."

"Back in our room, the words I said..." Carlos looked at her. "I was too emotional, you don't have to process it in your brain. I will be fine." She feels his acting nice as a result of what she said to him.

She walked away as Carlos stood still, only with his thoughts. This wasn't the right time to tell her about Kelsey. Maybe some other time.

He called the maids and ordered them to clear the clothes in the room and went in search of Triffany.
