THREATS
FREDA'S POV
I was almost falling asleep when the door creaked open, and I woke up immediately. My eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the light that was now in the room.
A young woman stepped in, and I could recognize her right away, one of the maids from the vampire kingdom. Why is she here?
It wasn't surprising to see that Williams would Kidnap me but her, the maid who worked in the kitchen was part of Williams crew. How is that possible?
She was carrying a tray of food and water, her hands shaking so badly that I could see the water sloshing over the rim of the cup.
Before I could say a word, she fumbled, and the tray crashed to the floor, spilling everything. The dried bread, water, plates, all of it scattered across the cold floor.
I quickly removed my back from the wall as I sat up, confused and trying to understand what was happening. Was she here to help me? Or is she part of the Williams crew?
I opened my mouth to ask her what she was doing here, but then the door opened again, and Williams walked in. He looked at the maid, then at me.
“I heard from the guards,” he said slowly, as he took another step towards me, “that you tried to escape.”
I stared at him, my throat suddenly became bitter. My heart, beating really fast in my chest, but I kept my face blank, trying not to show that I was scared of him.
He stepped closer, bending down to my level. “Let me make one thing very clear, Freda,” he said, whispering in my ears. “There will be no escaping for you. Maybe when I get the throne I might end your life.”
I didn’t flinch. I kept my eyes locked on him, even though every part of me wanted to look away and cry in the corner.
My heart thudded louder in my chest, but I refused to let him see how much that threat affected me. I’d already failed to escape once, and now I was trapped, but I wasn’t going to give up, no matter what he said.
Williams stared at me for a moment longer, then turned his attention back to the maid. “Feed her,” he barked, waving dismissively at the food scattered across the floor.
The poor maid flinched at his tone and hurried to pick up the mess. Her hands were shaking so badly that she almost dropped the tray again as she held it out to me. I can't believe they want to give me the food that was once on the floor.
Her eyes met mine for a second, begging me silently. I could tell she just wanted to do her job and get out of here, but I wasn’t going to make it easy for either of them.
I stared at the dead looking bread, my stomach twisting. I can’t eat that. Not like this, not with Williams standing over me, acting like he owned me. The thought of eating anything under his watch made me sick. I turned my head away, my lips clamped shut.
The maid tried again, her hands trembling as she brought the dried bread to my mouth again. Williams noticed this, his jaw tightened, and without warning, he snatched the plate and bread from her hands, shoving her roughly to the side. She stumbled back, almost falling to the floor.
Williams brought the bread to my mouth again “You’re going to eat,” he said, I could sense the impatience in his voice.
I didn’t respond. I just sat there, staring up at him, refusing to eat the food but keeping quiet only made him more angry. He shoved the food towards my face, pushing it against my lips, trying to force me to eat. The moment the stale bread touched my mouth, I reacted without thinking. I bit down, hard, sinking my teeth into his fingers.
Williams screamed as the bread fell to the floor. For a second, the only sound in the room was the harsh breathing from Williams. The maid gasped, bending down immediately to pick the bread from the floor.
“You little bitchh, ” he started, handing the plate to the maid. I knew he wanted to hurt me. It was written all over his face. But I didn’t care. I didn’t flinch, didn’t look away. I just stared at him, my heart still pounding, but my face calm.
I could see the mark of my teeth on his fingers even though they were gradually fading away they was still a part of me that felt satisfied and accomplish. I just wish he could feel the pain more.
I wanted Williams to go through all that I was going through but he's a vampire and I'm just a little human girl with no much strength compared to a vampire but that didn't stop me from trying.
Williams stepped forward again, this time closing the space between us. His fist clenched so tightly I could see the veins bulging on his arm. For a second, I thought he might hit me. I braced myself, but I didn’t move. I wasn’t going to give the satisfaction of seeing me cower.
The maid, still pressed against the wall, looked like she wanted to disappear. Her eyes were wide with terror, darting between me and Williams, as though she was trapped in the middle of a battle and had no idea what to do.
Williams’ chest rose and fell as he struggled to control himself. His face was red, and he looked at me like he wanted nothing more than to rip me apart. “You’ll regret that,” he spat through gritted teeth.
"Trust me I won't hesitate to snap your neck, dead or alive you're of great use to me" He whispered, his fangs almost entering my skin.
Without thinking twice I spat on his face and immediately regreted it as he wrapped his hands around my neck.
